Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible customer service-manager on duty I always stay at HIE hotels, they are usually great and have the best staff. I also choose them because my schedule offen changes because of work, and they always adjust my stays, I have never had an issue canceling a reservation. I needed to cancel this room and stay the night in Wichita. When I called the hotel, the woman who answered the phone told me I would be charged for the room since I was calling after noon. It was around 2pm. I told her I have never had an issue at this hotel before and that I stay there often. She kept talking over me repeating the policy, I asked to speak to the hotel manager and she told me she was the only one there. I told her I would not stay there again if this is how I was going to be treated, she kept repeating the policy, so I told her to keep the room, I would stay there this time and never again. She then hung up on me. I ended up keeping the room to avoid the charge, didn't get to town until late. Hotel wasn't even close to being sold out. All other associates are nice, not sure what this ladies problem was... Didn't catch her name since she hung up on me. This hotel isn't on my companies preferred list anymore, but I still stayed there. I stayed there because of the location. I know other people in my company still stay there too, I have informed them of this issue. I will just stay at the HIE in Lawrence, it is only 23 miles away and owned by someone else. I and many of my associates stay in this hotel, this is a large amount of stays. June 18, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by sullen desk clerk Arrived at 5:00PM and had to wait for a while before the desk clerk came. Check in went smoothly. Cookies had been put out so asked if there would be any when we arrived back from dinner. Reply was "If there are any left" Came back from dinner about 6:30 and the cookie tray was gone, so I mentioned it to the desk clerk who curtly told me "They had run out!" Breakfast was a total disappointment. Sticky buns were stale and cold. Breakfast was dry. June 17, 2015
