Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and comfortable, excellent service! I booked our suite online and was very happy with the ease of my check in when we arrived. The two suites next to us were booked with a teenage girl gymnastics party. We never heard a peep from them through the walls. I'm sure they were up all night giggling and having a great time, but the only time we heard them was when they were in the halls, which was still pretty quiet, perfectly understandable and not disruptive to our stay at all. The room smelled and looked clean. The bed was immaculate and incredibly comfortable! The jaccuzzi was warm and roomy. The pool was warm. We took advantage of the breakfast bar as well and it was delicious! Filled with many choices to fit every taste. Food was warm and tasty. The staff was very pleasant while we waited only a short while for them to inspect our room upon leaving (because I chose to pay with cash and was awaiting the return of my deposit). If I had to pick one thing that was not quite right, the warming bulb in the bathroom was out, but this was insignificant and mattered so little that I forgot to even mention it to the staff..which I am sure would have replaced it if I had. I also enjoyed that we were in control of the temp in the room, it was perfect all night! We will definitely be going back!! February 26, 2014

The front desk was extremely courteous and helpful when checking in that evening after a long day and in recomending a local restaurant. She was very pleasant when assisting me that evening. I was working in my room when housekeeping came to clean it, again very courteous and pleasant. This will become my hotel of choice when in the Auburn Hills area!!!! February 24, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Heater needs fixing. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Waterford, MI and settled on a handycap room (RM 216) which I requested since it was the last King bed available. The room was very hot. I tried to change the thermostat on the window unit to cool but it did not work. The fan setting did not solve the problem. I even tried to turn the unit off but to my surprise the unit came on by itself in the off setting. The unit must have been wired to bypass the controls in the room and connected to some other thermostst setting that I did not have access to. I had to sleep on top of the covers, otherwise it would have been too hot. Also, there was no mini fridge in the room when I opened up the cabinet where there usually is a fridge and microwave. I had some food items that needed a fridge and I could not leave it in the car otherwise it would have froze. Lucikily I had a cooler I filled up with ice for my food. I usually have a pleasent stay at the Hol Inn Ex but this location had a few problems. February 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice... Still Remodeling, Underground Rooms We stayed here before a flight out of PTK, the airport just around the corner. Parking was easy. Check in was simple. Everyone was polite. When we stayed there they were still remodeling, so we were still in one of the "old" rooms. The hotel was clean and if you can ignore the items that were clearly just for the remodel, it was a very nice hotel in the public areas and I am sure the new rooms will be great. My room was on the bottom floor, which is partially underground. Not something I am crazy about, as it makes you feel a little cramped compared to being at ground level or above. All in all, I would stay here again, without question, when I am in the area. I look forward to checking it out once the remodel is complete. January 20, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed Bag Pros: The room was very nice and I slept well. Two out of the three front desk clerks that I encountered were friendly and helpful. Cons: the breakfast was unappetizing with very few healthy choices, one of the front desk clerks yelled at our group rudely, and there were no room guides as to how to use the technology (i.e. wireless password, tv channel numbers). I also had a horribly unprofessional experience with a front desk clerk when reserving my room over the phone- she was very rude and not at all helpful. I was in town for two nights for a wedding, but when I return I plan on staying elsewhere. October 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FABULOUS CUSTOMER CARE We used this hotel as a home base while we were dealing with a relative's estate. I can't express enough how helpful and thoughtful the staff were. Each and everyone of them went out of their way to help us with whatever we needed - faxing, directions, restaurant choices, etc. The hotel was under renovations while we were there and this never interfered with our stay at all. We were given one of the rooms on the upper level that had the renovations completed and the room was absolutely gorgeous! I don't anticipate being in Waterford, Michigan again but if so would definitely stay here and highly recommend it. October 23, 2013

Our latest stay was October 11 - 15 of this year. Generally speaking, I know which rooms to stay away from in any hotel (next to ice machines, elevators, game rooms, exits, etc.) and appreciate it when hotel staff accommodate my preferences. The staff at this Holiday Inn Express know me by name and never fail to go out of their way to give me the room I ask for. The manager, front desk clerks, cleaning staff, everyone who works there, are all friendly and helpful. My work in the immediate area of the hotel has diminished the past year or so but I still like to stay there and drive a little further to my accounts due to the staff. September 23, 2013

The people on the other side of the door spoke very loudly, thereby waking us up after midnight. Had to put the air conditioner and fan on high to help drown out their voices. Restaurants, drug stores, shopping, etc. I went down to swim in the pool and the key card would not work. In my experience the problem was because batteries in the box are bad. When I brought it up to staff they said It has been that way for weeks, they don't know what is wrong with it and I would have to pull on exit door and it will open. Well, I did and it worked I got to go swim. In the process of me trying to get in the pool other guests where checking in and asking questions of staff. I was very frustrated by the time I was able to ask about the pool 30-45 min later. September 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Surprised - Positively The Waterford Holiday Inn Express is a hot property in the Waterford, MI area and specifically in the HIE catalog. I was afforded a luxurious experience via the King Room Suite with in-room Spa Tub. This allowed me and my gorgeous traveling companion to achieve a level of relaxation rarely experienced in any Holiday Inn context. Really great. The room looked like what I imagine Julius Caesar would expect were he traveling in Waterford, MI in 2013. Beyond the room - I felt that the staff was extraordinarily accommodating. They knew we were there to party and, rather than rain on our parade, helped us facilitate a pretty rocking post-wedding Fete. If you find yourself in Waterford, MI or nearby and NOT staying here you've made a serious mistake. Thank you Holiday Inn Express for an unforgettable evening - and a surprising paradigm shift from what I would traditionally expect from a hotel in this area/category. September 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Strongly Avoid I stay at about 50 motels each year, primarily Holiday Inn Express. This place is a total dive! The worst that I have EVER seen. The carpets in the hallway and rooms are stained, sticky and totally negeloted. The front desk staff is rude with no understanding of what customer service means, they just don't care. The AC in my room sounded like a broken cement mixer. The mattress and pillows must have been more than 20 years old and smelled like urine. The toilet seat was filthy and the room light bulbs were burned out. Breakfast was 45 minutes late, again a rude staff that did not seem to care. Run down, worn out, dirty avoid this place at any cost a total dive! August 26, 2013

But I can't think of any reason to have the walkway into a persons room so filthy. The staff was excellent. August 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfy bed clean fresh My stay was very last minute I called 1-800-holiday the gentleman whom made my reservation was more than helpful not only with getting me a room but one very close to where I was plus gave exact directions on getting there Once there I was greeted with kindness my room was clean fresh and cool. The bed was very comfortable it was thee best night sleep I've had in months. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choices Thank you to all I had a wonderful stay and I will return and I would highly recommend your hotel Thank you again August 21, 2013

We checked OUT of a competitor just down the road, where we had booked five nights, and moved over to Holiday Inn. What a difference. We spent remain four nights here. The staff were wonderful and the room was just what we wanted with good service and quite night's rest. August 19, 2013
