Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and comfortable bedroom I drove to this hotel, difficult to find with limited parking. I parked on the road outside hotel, so had to move my car by 8 am. The hotel seemed new and staff were welcoming. I was a bit surprised with room service, there wasn't any! The menu selection downstairs was very limited. The breakfast selection was ok, but hot food was only some semi cooked sausages and scrambled egg. Overall hotel served its purpose. March 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent service and value for money Staff were excellent - very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The location was perfect for our needs and we found the hotel very comfortable with excellent cleanliness in our room and in the public areas. The hotel really is excellent value for money and we would certainly stay there again. February 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic!! After reading a few of the reviews I was a bit apprehensive after my booking however I could not recommend this place enough, especially with the low prices!! The staff were fantastic and after a disastrous few hours when we arrived in London it was a breath of fresh air to arrive at the Hotel and be let check in a few hours earlier!! The breakfast was great and I really can't recommend this place enough if you're staying in London on a budget!! February 24, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by car parking charges most disappointing aspect of stay was having to pay 2 days car parking [10 pounds] for one nights stay and using the meeting room February 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable room, friendly FOH staff, Poor quality evening Food The Room overall was quite comfortable windows whistled but we were in a wind storm at the time. The check in staff are fantastic really quick at check in and give good information. Breakfast is ok but no bacon :0 good choice though. My food in the evening I felt was over priced for what it is and wasn't a very good standard for that price. I would say best to have an evening meal somewhere else. February 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty good for the price Overall, a nice looking hotel. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and modern, but the bed was rather soft (as a result, we both had back pain the next day) and although the air con made a tremendous amount of noise, it didn't actually seem to cool the room. The TV in the room was standard Quadriga rubbish (fuzzy picture, awkward user interface) with a small selection of Freeview channels, plus paid content. Breakfast was a surprisingly large selection: sausage, egg, beans, toast, pastries, cereals, yogurts, fruit... (OK, the sausages are poor quality, but you get what you pay for). They were extremely prompt closing the doors though, so don't be late! Late checkout was allowed for being an IHG Rewards Club member. February 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Location This is the second time that we have used this fairly new hotel adjacent and about two minutes walk to Watford Junction station. A convenient location for travel into London by train and last station on the Oyster card system. Also used by a number of families for the Harry Potter experience. February 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Service We arrived on a cold , wet night, and the car park was full. I went into reception to ask for advice, and the duty manager Alex put on his coat, came out, moved his car, and let me have his space. Service doesn't get much better than that. The room was spacious, comfortable and spotless. The breakfast was plentiful, and had choices to suit all the family. Excellent value, and overall a very pleasant experience. February 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay we would recommend this hotel.... We stayed 25-27 Jan 2014, we had a memorial stay at this hotel; the staff really look after us, nothing was any trouble. Excellent value too. Many thanks to you all January 30, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Harry Potter weekend break Overall good price, cheaper than staying in central London. Room was good but bed soft and uncomfortable plus there were some noisy late night guests. Breakfast was the biggest let down, not very well organised and waiting a long time for any hot food to appear. January 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 great service I didnt see sny staff i new. But they were best ever. Made me feek part of the package. January 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable, friendly staff, affordable We were very satisfied. Breakfast was great. It was really close to the train station. Wifi better that anywhere Staff was very friendly January 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value for money We based ourselves here for a Harry Potter world visit and were not disappointed by either experience. Comfortable, clean and great value for money with the 21 day saver rate. January 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kirsty : ) Stopped in the Watford Junction Holiday Inn for the weekend after visiting The Harry Potter Studio's. The hotel is a short walk to the bus and train station where you can get transport to wherever you wish including a bus which takes you straight to the Studio's : ) our room was ready for when we arrived and staff were very friendly allowing us to use the room before the stated check in time which was of great benefit to yourselves! All staff were more than willing to help and we're able to answer all of our questions we asked about the local area,t transport connections and eating out suggestions for us to try! Rooms lovely as with all holiday inns I've stopped in, breakfast is basic but you will not leave hungry for sure as there is plenty of it! Thank you holiday inn for our enjoyable stay : ) a Kirsty xxx January 9, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by new hotel experience I can heartily recommend the hotel and staff at Watford Junction , nothing is too much trouble regarding customer service, we also had an evening meal there which was very nice indeed. should we need to book again, we have fully intended to book with them again, providing they have a hotel available. January 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very helpful staff and great for trains into London and underground. Stayed at Holiday express inn 27th-30th December. Brilliantly situated for Harry Potter tour as bus leaves just around the corner. All the staff were friendly, and very helpful. Beds comfy with choice of soft or firm mattress and pillows! Will definitely return and highly recommend this hotel. January 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent for London access I booked this almost 2 months in advance so price was great. I booked this as we went to the Harry Potter experience and this was recommended as a well placed hotel - and it was. It is less then 10 mins drive from Harry Potter, but regardless of that Watford junction train station is less then 5 mins walk and the fast train gets you to Euston in less then 20 mins. We also managed to park next to the hotel. We weren't sure of the parking but I asked before I checked in and they were very helpful, I did ask for a room away from the station as I am a light sleeper - and got what I asked for. It's not a luxury hotel, but it is more than adequate. Lets face it it is somewhere to sleep and it was better than I have experienced in more expensive hotels, The rooms are basic, but clean, the breakfast is good (although my partner has said avoid the sausages and have the toast, rubberish eggs and beans!!). I can't eat wheat or dairy so I am limited, but I don't eat much breakfast either so I am not bothered. We are planning to stay again next December for longer. It is so convenient for London, good value - book well in advance - the rooms are clean the staff are friendly and very amenable. Well Done Holiday Inn Express Look forward to next year. If we ever want to visit London again I would use this hotel December 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Breakfast and comfy room I'm a little fussy when it comes to hotels as I have worked in them for many years. This was for our visit to Warner Bros (HArrp Potter) Studio Tour. We checked in rather late, service was fast, although the receptionist/night staff didn't smile much! The room was big and spacey, quiet (even though the trains are in the distance) and warm. The room was clean for the most part, the hair dryer, however, was greasy, I'm guessing this is hair products from the previous guest. yuk! Otherwise couldn't fault it. The breakfast was great and on both occasions we went down pretty late, it was still full with lovely food and drinks. Great job to those staff! Finally, when ever we asked for extra stuff (tea, coffee, milk etc) everyone was very obliging! Would stay again. December 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Family get together Good location for a family meeting, living in Northern France, it served it's purpose. The room was clean & the bed very comfortable, although there was a little noise from being in the middle of a busy town centre, the hotel itself was very quiet. The bar was very good & quiet a great place to catch up with friends & family, plus the bar prices were very reasonable (living in Northern France, it was a third cheaper than we normally pay!) No problem with the parking & cheap at £4 a day. This is the 2nd time we have stayed at your hotel in two months, both were as above, well done. December 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall good. Central location. A good central hotel but the private car park was disappointing with limited spaces and difficult access. £4 to park but Sunday free. Hotel entrance a bit difficult to find. Hotel clean and rooms good but our mattress was very uncomfortable and we rolled into the dip in the middle .Room temperature fine and not stifling. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast adequate. Ask for a room on the opposite side to the railway for peace and quiet. We ate at the Bread and Butter Grill on Watford High Street which had been recommended. Superb 2 course meal for £20 each. Would return. December 12, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by slowths staff very helpful, comfortable spacious room, clean, breakfast plentiful shame no bacon though. ideal place to commute into London as right on the station dooorstep. We will use again. A very good experience overall. December 12, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Welcoming hotel Had a great stay here. The staff were friendly and helpful. Every where was clean and bright. Decor was very good. All the facilities very good. Breakfast most enjoyable too. A comfortable and relaxed atmosphere! December 11, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for Warner Bros. Tour Walking distance to Watford Junction, which was perfect for us... We arrived and departed by train. Also, shuttle to and from Warner Bros. Studio for "The Making of Harry Potter" was located at Watford Junction. The hotel itself was clean and safe, but unmemorable. Should consider adding a small restaurant menu for the evening. December 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value for money Very well designed and comfortable room, helpful staff and a free breakfast. Room easily accommodated family of four, free WIFI a bonus. Great value for the price! December 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal location for London and Harry Potter tour My girlfriend and I stayed at Holiday Inn Watford Junction for two nights between Saturday 30th November and Monday 2nd December and we were very pleased with our choice of accommodation. We needed to be convenient to the city as we had show tickets for the Saturday evening and also wanted to get some Christmas shopping done, but we had tickets for the Harry Potter studio tour on the Sunday evening as well, so needed to stay somewhere that allowed us easy access to both. With trains running from Watford Junction station (right next door) to Euston every 20 minutes or so, we had no problem getting in and out. There is also a bus that runs very regularly between the bus station (in front of the train station) and the Warner Bros studios where the tour takes place, so the location of the Holiday Inn was ideal... You can't miss the bus as it is emblazoned with 'Harry Potter' and pictures of characters from top to bottom! We found the staff to be friendly and knowledgable, the room to be clean and comfortable and the breakfast #included for all guests# to be perfectly adequate as well. You can hear trains going by but they certainly aren't what you would consider 'noisy' and didn't make our stay any less comfortable. The Harry Potter tour was excellent too! December 6, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pointless Couldn't visit as my pregnant wife got rushed to hospital in an emergency 2 days before and was advised by the hospital she wouldn't be travelling that weekend and when I rang 2 days before we was due there, I got told I couldn't have a refund and no manager was available to speak to.... Talk about lack of personal touch... Wasted £120....wont be booking there! Can't be trusted to do the right thing, have made it clear on public forums how upsetting this really is! December 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and convenient lcation Chose this hotel because we were visiting Harry Potter world. We had intended to stay in London and spend a long weekend there, and travel to Watford for H. Potter, but we could not get anything like a comparable price. Having said that, the hotel is less than 5 minutes walk to Watford Junction station and we were in London within 30 minutes of leaving the hotel. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful. We had a room at the front of the hotel (ie not facing the railway station) and we experienced no noise. Would certainly recommend it if visiting H. Potter world as it is only a 10 minute drive away, or alternatively there is a shuttle bus from the nearby station. Also good value if visiting London. Tickets including underground cost us £30 for a family of 4. December 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by everything we wanted Arrived 9.30am, room ready, so checked in no prob, left for our full day in London. Train station 5min walk which was very handy for making the most of a full day. Arrived back 10.15pm, crashed out in comfy bed, good nights sleep, breakfast very good and staff very polite and helpful. All in all great stay and will use again, thank you November 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brilliant hotel & Ideal for HP Studio tour visitors! My boyfriend and I both stayed at the Holiday Inn at Watford on 23/11/13 - 24/11/13 as we had booked to visit the Harry Potter studio. An excellent location positioned right next to the Train Station (for those who need to get the train in.) Was just a 10 minute (if that) drive to the Harry Potter Studio tour, so absolutely perfect for that if anyone is looking for somewhere to stay. There are some little pubs around the area, which came in handy when we arrived a little earlier than 2pm. We went across to the Prince George for the football and some food while we waited - though i'm sure the hotel would let you sit in the lobby sofas. Straight away felt extremely welcome. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful. There was a weird sound in our room that sounded like something expanding very loudly, we put it down to the pipes in the wall. Luckily this stopped before we fell asleep so it didn't affect our sleep quality, but it may need addressing. The one and only down side was the parking. there's a small (and i mean small) cluster of parking spaces at the back of the hotel, not enough for everyone to get a space. (although it is free, so cannot complain too much!) Just when we went out to visit the Studio tour at 4pm, we returned back at 10pm to find no available spaces, but were able to park in front on the road, which isn't too bad as it's off the main street and is well lit. The breakfast area on Sunday was a little crowded and was a bit stressful but the food was beautiful so it cancels it out (though my boyfriend would have also liked some Bacon, but he is fussy!) I would definitely stay here again. November 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean comfy hotel Stayed at this hotel as we were visiting harry potter studios and London and the price of this hotel was very favourable compared to Central London. Location next to train station was ideal for trips to studio and train into Easton only took 20 minutes. There was some noise from station but not too bad. Hotel lobby was lovely and light as was the breakfast area. There was plenty of choice for us for breakfast and it was never crowded even at the weekend. Our family room was spacious, clean. And not over warm. Shower was hot and powerful and the bed comfortable. The staff were vey friendly and knowledgable. The Watford area is not the nicest but we managed to eat out at a Pizza Hut one night and went into London other nights. Would stay here again. Very impressed. November 27, 2013
