Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by No parking!! This hotel was ok! Had a variety of breakfast foods to choose from although I was disappointed in the cooked breakfast choices as there was only vegetarian sausages ( which I only found out after I'd eaten) scrambeled eggs and beans! Not what you'd call an English breakfast really! I was very disappointed With the lack of car park spaces for the size of the hotel overall there was about 15 spaces and if you couldn't find one you had to park In the pub car park and PAY!!!!!! Room was ok but don't think I got wished to enjoy my stay although staff was friendly and polite. September 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location I stayed at Watford Junction with my son to visit the Harry Potter tour - great location - tour bus parked at Watford Junction station, which is a 2 minute walk up an alley alongside the railway. This was a good base for travelling into Central London too. On arrival the staff were very friendly and the hotel very clean. We were located on 5th floor at the front of the hotel which was quiet. The room was very clean with tea and coffee, a kettle, a hairdryer and tv. Breakfast during weekdays is 6.30 to 9.30; hot food: scrambled eggs sausage and beans. Other food consisted of fruit, yoghurts, muffins, croissants, toast, cereal - something for everyone. We ate in the restaurant one evening during our stay and had the steak which was fine. On depature we asked if we could leave our bags as our train was later in the day; the staff were very friendly and stored them in a locked room for as long as we wanted. Overall a brilliant hotel, good location, would definitely stay again. Thank you. September 2, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Internet in room I stayed in Holiday InnExpress on 20/08 for a night and had a comfortable stay. I had booked a Entertainment Package but found that the internet signal in the room kept on dropping every 4-5 minutes. It was virtually ususable. Having bought a room with Entertainment Package ( internet plus movies), I was not impressed with the internet facility in the room. This can be improved by the hotel. Thanks Apoorva August 31, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Helfpul staff but disappointing food There is no restaurant service on a Sunday evening (which was not made clear before we arrived) and the chef was absent on the Monday evening too with no replacement! We had to get a takeaway on the Sunday and eat out Monday, neither of which are ideal after a tiring day when you want to relax in the hotel you have booked! Having said that the food in the pub about half a mile away was lovely!! Breakfast was disappointing and below standard for a Holiday Inn. Although the staff were friendly, the beds for my children were not particularly comfy. Won't stay here again. August 31, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HIE never let you down Yet again I find myself leaving another Holiday Inn Express with a warm glow rather than in a disgruntled manner. Arrived at the premesis a bit hot and sweaty, jaded and with bags under my eyes that befits any parent with a three month old child.Check in was efficient and courteous and immediately this lifted my spirits. Room was spotless and hotel was pristine throughout.Great location for those not wanting a long trek from the rail station. Decent boozer(The Flag) that I have already earmaked to return to should we ever be in the area again. Excellent shuttle bus service to Harry Potter World which was the main reason for our visit. Was hoping for a legover myself, something Potters 'wizadry' never made happen-always had him down as an imposter that Potter. One thing to note at the hotel is if you arrive as much as 30 secs late after the deadline for breakfast-well put it this way, your going hungry!! Around come the shutters and your left to salivate. :-( August 31, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location. Fab room. Great service I had booked a family room for me, my daughter and two children aged 13 and 10. The room was very good, spotless and very modern, the children really liked it. The double bed was comfortable, I shared this with my 11 grandson. My daughter and 13 granddaughter shared the bed settee. Unfortunately this wasn't as comfortable as it looked and both complained about the ridges in the mattress. But overall, we would all stay there again. The breakfast was adequate and plentiful. Perfect location for Harry Potter August 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent One night stay Courteous and friendly staff. Very clean rooms and surrounds. Had booked 5 rooms, staying with 9 friends. Would certainly recommend this hotel. Very handy with station nearby for London visit. August 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wedding Guests We stayed here for a wedding nearby and everything was very good. The bedrooms were well serviced, clean and comfortable and shower-gel is supplied in the bathroom. The staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast choice was excellent (though bacon would have been nice). Car parking a slight issue but there is an overflow car park nearby. August 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and comfy Very clean and lovely room. Bed satisfactory however not a comfy as would have liked, only got one pillow! Breakfast again was satisfactory however would have liked to get a full english breakfast. Not much parking either however these are minor details and we very much enjoyed our stay :-) August 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service, great choice! This hotel was our base whilst up for the Harry Potter Tour. Couldn't have chosen a better hotel. It is only a couple of minutes from the Station which was perfect as we travelled by train, and the shuttle bus goes from there to the Studios. The room was more than comfortable. Added bonus of getting breakfast, and the option of bar snacks/meals at the end of the day. The staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly. We are definitely planning to return. Thoroughly recommend this hotel! August 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall fantastic From the time we got there to the moment we left we were made to feel incredibly welcome, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Sometimes you can tell when someone is only smiling or saying good morning etc because they are paid to do so but this was most definitely not the case here, I really can't sing their praises enough (especially the man and the woman- sorry, I can't recall their names- who were working on reception Friday 16th Aug evening/night). The hotel was clean and in order (the communal areas and the rooms), the room was much more spacious than I was expecting and comfortable too. We felt relaxed and at ease the whole time we stayed. Breakfast made (and I quote my son) "breakfast at home seem vastly inferior" and was greatly enjoyed. It was the lowest price hotel I found for the area and to be honest it really didn't show, I would DEFINITELY stay here again if I was in Watford again and I would recommend it highly to anyone looking for somewhere to stay. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fabulous location for a Harry Potter visit The staff on reception were friendly and helpful and the use of the car park, lift and breakfast area was clearly explained. My reward club membership was recognised and advantages were explained clearly. There were enough cups and towels in the room for the additional adult, the sofa bed had been made up and the room was welcoming and very clean. The mattress on the double bed was a little too springy which meant that any movement of one occupant disturbed the other. Whilst the dining room was large and clean, the buffet area was too small for the amount of guests. It was difficult to move around the buffet area whilst carrying a plate or tray and there was no space on the counter to put anything down whilst organising food and drinks. The hot food was hot and the cutlery and crockery were clean. This hotel is ideally located if you are visiting the Harry Potter tour. August 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly helpful staff I and my grand-daughters enjoyed our stay as the rooms were clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There was plenty to eat for breakfast. I will definitely stay there again. August 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and great service Very comfortable stay, plenty of room for me, my husband and the 2 kids. Breakfast was a bit basic but good, very close to Watford Junction Station for access to London in 15 mins and bus to Warner Bros Studio Tour Harry Potter!! August 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient and good value for money I brought my daughter to London to visit the Harry Potter Tour at the Warner Bros Studio, and booked the hotel for three nights because it was close to Watford Junction Station, (just five minutes walk door to door), where we knew we would be able to catch a bus to the Studios. The hotel staff were polite and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast was more than adequate. My daughter and I enjoyed a drink and a reasonably priced meal at the hotel bar on the second night. There wasn't a vast menu but what they had looked very nice. August 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Excellent value We had a lovely stay in Watford. This hotel is very close to Watford Junction station 20 min to Euston lots of trains but make sure that you get the fast ones. Harry potter world is close too. Staff were so nice and very helpful . Only downside is limited parking but we managed with the staff,s help. Would stay again when we go back to London thanks to staff. Would be nice if bacon was on the breakfast menu. August 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good clean and comfortable hotel Great hotel with easy access to the train station which is only 2 minutes walk from hotel. Good parking facilities but not enough spaces. Good connection routes bith by train and road to london. Would stay here again. August 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hotel, facilities, staff & service This must have been our 10th return to this hotel. Clean, spacious rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Parking. Family friendly. Easy access to London. Would recommend to anyone. August 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very helpful staff Chosen because of proximity and ease of access to Harry Potter Studio tour, this hotel exceeded my expectations. I booked a family room for myself and 3 teenagers. The room was small but more than adequate for us as we spent little time in it. The two who slept on the pull-out sofa bed declared it not very comfortable and would have liked a couple of extra pillows. The staff were very helpful with suggestions of places to eat on Saturday and Sunday evening. They looked after our luggage after we checked out so that we could spend the day shopping in London before leaving. Breakfast area was clean and breakfast supplies plentiful and varied - more than enough to fill up 3 hungry teens before a big day out. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting somewhere affordable, comfortable and close to transport (but no noise problem) for visiting London (20 minute express train trip to Euston) and the Harry Potter Studio tour (bus leaves from Watford Junction station just around the corner from the hotel). Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We'll be back Our stay was a very relaxing experience,The room was very clean,Breakfast choices were very good, parking was handy, staff very helpful and pleasant, would certainly stay again. August 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for London second stay..we find it clean comfortable..use it for visiting London.Only 20mins on train to euston..cheaper & nicer than equivalant hotels in city.Desk Staff very helpful & pleasant..breakfast staff not so much..looked a bit miserable..but are very busy.Help yourself breakfast..fruit,yoghurt.cereal,all types of drinks..nice coffee.Scrambled eggs, beans ,sausage,toast,,muffins..enough to start the day on.Also tea making facility in fridge.Very limited for clothes hanging space& no draws..but adequate. Watford go a nice Westfields with a John Lewis. August 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty good. Would have given 5 stars for wifi in rooms. Quite comfortable, convenient and reasonable for what we wanted to do (Harry Potter and a brief tour around London before proceeding inland). Bus and trains were convenient. You can be back in the middle of London within an hour. If you are looking for a view you will be disappointed, but if you are looking for good local pub grub and shopping you wont be. There is a big mall nearby with all economic levels - Upscale all the way down to swap meet. - It's not the Bull ring area in Birmingham but it will do. I was looking at crystal on one end and used records at the other. Free Wifi in the lobby but not in the rooms. You pay extra for a wired internet & premium cable TV in the rooms. I didn't bother, I just sat in the bar/lobby/lounge downstairs, so did a lot of others, but it was a little inconvenient. Everything else clean and comfortable. Staff excellent. August 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very neat and tidy Hotel We stayed here basically for its location, a five minute walk from Watford Junction Station and near to the Harry Potter World. We stayed for six nights and used the hotel as a base for getting into London, leaving after breakfast and getting back between nine and ten at night. We also went to the Harry Potter World. Therefor we were really pleased with the hotel. The room we stayed in was a family room, one double bed and a sofa bed.It was well maintaned and had plenty of space. We were a bit concerned about the noise from trains but we hardly heard them, we were on the fourth floor this might have helped!! The breakfast was adequate with enough choice for adults and children. My only gripe was the fact you have to pay for internet use especially nowadays when most places provide free wifi. August 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location for London - ticked every box Very comfortable, spotlessly clean room. Even a choice of piloows from firm to soft. Staff were friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Lovely, ample breakfast. Just a few steps from Watford Junction for quick train into central London. Would definitely stay here again! August 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel Had a 3 night stay for a family wedding, and we were very impressed with all aspects of the hotel. Room was excellent, very clean and it was fantastic to have air conditioning on the hottest day of the year! The bed was a little soft, but that would be the only criticism. Also, Joe(?) on reception was excellent. He was very polite and helpful, and did a great job of organising at a very busy breakfast period. Will definitely recommend this hotel. August 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and neat The rooms were clean and neat and the staff was very accommodating. We travelled to Watford to visit Harry Potter Studios with my wife and three teenage daughters. The staff had no problem having us set up with two adjoining rooms and a common door between them. The breakfast variety was excellent. August 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Service We stayed hereas a base to visit Harry Potter tour. We were treated by very friendly staff and were shown to a very clean and spacious room. Would recommend this Holiday Inn to anyone. We even received a complimentary breakfast . August 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, friendly - parking not great After my first night at the holiday inn I had already decided that this was a good hotel. Polite, friendly staff, rooms clean and tidy. Breakfast was acceptable - bacon would have been nice. However the only down side was the parking I needed my car so was told I need to pay £3 per day I thought this was reasonable given the location however I wasn't told that this did not guarantee me a space, so after a long day out and arriving back at the hotel there were no spaces and initially I was told I need to pay and park in the nearby pub this wasn't far but I think holiday inn needs to rethink this parking issue other than this an excellent hotel and I would stay again August 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great experience Last weekend my relatives stayed at the hotel they are 84 & 94. They could not say enough about how well they were looked after. I checked in on their behalf and they were attentive and helpful. Thank you for making their short stay a pleasure. I will definitely use the hotel again. August 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really great service Great service from the first phone call to checking out, we only stayed one night but were given the best advice about trains into London and where to eat and all important of course where to park. Staff were great very attentive and room was perfect the price was so competitive we won't be trying anywhere else when we need another room. August 2, 2013
