Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Catch this one on a bad night Good loaction for Watford Junction, parking a bit tricky parking at the rear of the hotel which isn't signed. Hotel bar had absolutely no draught beer, I guess this doesn't happen everyday but didn't help atmosphere. Room as you would expect and wifi was good July 30, 2015

Staff were attentive and moved us to a better location with additional interconnecting room for children. Family room is cramped for family of four. Overall hotel is OK July 29, 2015

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by wouldn't return This holiday inn express does what it says on the tin. only really for the one night stay. After arriving in watford after what felt like the longest trip ever from glasgow to london, and then to watford, i was looking forward to getting into my hotel room and relaxing before heading out . When we arrived the staff didn't seem to know what day it was, never mind if we ha a reservation. We had arrived a little earlier than planned but that was our own doing. We had an email confirmation to confirm that our check in was at 02.00pm, but they two staff members behind the counter seemed to think that the check in was 3! I had already started to lose my patience with them. We asked if the room would be ready earlier, and were told no. My partner was then taken to a "left luggage" room and put our bags down. By this point, we were tired and frustrated, and the staff weren't making it better. We were then asked upto the desk 2 mins later because apparently our room was ready, but were told that we hadn't paid. I was so so so unhappy to hear this, as i thought it had all been paid for. The "manager" then told me that they took they money from my bank a few days before check in, and not when i made the reservation. Now on my confirmation email i received when i booked the room there was no mention of the fact that the payment wouldn't be taken straight away. They told me that they tried and my card was declined. What i don't understand is, that why didn't anyone try to contact me and ask me why my card was declined? By this point, your staff were stuttering over themselves not knowing what to say, so my partner put the room on his credit card, and we got our room key. We were so pleased to get to the room and relax. When we got in, 2 of the lights in the room weren't working, and 1 was about t to stop working. There wasn't enough toilet roll in the toilet either, or clean towels, enough for 2 people. I don't know if it was a mix or tiredness and frustration at the hands of your staff, but i was sorely disappointed. We got ready quickly and left for the day. On our return we found the room was sweltering hot even though the air con was on, which suggests to me that it was working properly. It was also making the loudest noise i have ever heard. We had been so tired from our horrific day that we decided to get some food a the hotel. We took it to the room and tried to relax. The salad that came with the burgers was disgusting and didn't taste fresh at all, and the rolls for the burgers were stale. The beers we ordered were very warm even though they were in the fridge. We just gave up and decided to call this it a night. Our sleep was very broken and terrible. We tried turning up the air con to cool the room down, but it was unsuccessful and the noise coming from it was so loud. This and the heat kept us both awake. The next morning on check out, we skipped breakfast and went to leave. The same manager as the day before was on again, and when we approached the desk she wasn't pleasant at all. She did not ask how our stay was (which was probably just as well as i didn't feel up to talking to her,) she didn't smile once and wasn't polite. She actually started to try and tell us again about the hotels payment policy. I don't think she understood the fact that we were already angry and she didn't offer an apology. I was so happy to leave the place that we didnt even thank her for checking us out, we just left, and will probably never return. July 28, 2015

Hotel is only 10 minutes away from all the shops and very easy to get there and only 2 minutes walk to the train station. Room was clean and comfortable.I will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it . July 20, 2015
