Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by difficult to reserve what I want I've been staying at the Grand for over a decade. I reserve my room 6-10 months in advance. I ask for a King room on the side of the hotel opposite the railroad tracks. I'm told as I make the reservation, that they'll put my request into the notes with my reservation. Then when I arrive, I get a double room, sometime on the track side, sometimes on the opposite side. My question is.....why can't I get what I've requested? Every other hotel on the planet will reserve EXACTLY what I request, and they send an email that confirms exactly what I'll get when I arrive. Fix it. thanks, wayne November 16, 2014

First, the front desk went out of their way to accommodate us for an early arrival with adjoining rooms on a very busy weekend. Super nice and hard working housekeeping staff for this to occur. Rooms were spacious. Bed was comfortable and got such good sleep. (I didn't hear a train or slept so sound that it was in my dreams only). We were there for a marathon, and housekeeping provided us with extra towels for our return to the room. I just cannot comment enough on how nice this lady was. And the ladies at the front desk were the nicest. Friendly, beautiful smiles and greeting us with positive words each time we came through. Nice to see people happy in their jobs. The bar/bartender was a great experience also. Again, another happy employee. I have never been to a hotel where I did not encounter one negative or disgruntled employee. Everyone here had a smile on their face and enjoyed their work. Sure made for a pleasant stay. I will definitely return and refer friends to this hotel. November 14, 2014

Since this was the first hotel that was recommended on the marathon website I thought the breakfast should have started at 4:30 that morning to help the runners get ready. Since they didn't have breakfast until 6:30 (race start time) and I had no microwave in my room I had a cold meal before my first half. Not complaining really just wish it had been different. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel - horrible internet The internet speed was HORRENDOUS in my room and in the common spaces. It was sooo slow, almost equal to dial-up speeds, and my multiple devices even had problems recognizing that each was still indeed connected. The staff was helpful in trying to diagnose the problem - but were unsuccessful in their efforts. This issue alone would result in me staying elsewhere when I return - as it is impossible to conduct business. Recommend requesting southern side room at the highest available floor; the early-morning train noise (right next to the north side of the building) would likely be almost intolerable anywhere else. Some staff were very helpful and friendly, while others would have their face buried in their personal smartphones as you walked past. Also, my room's air conditioning required a reset. When I alerted the staff, they noted that my room was already on the list to be worked on - which called into question why they even placed me in that room. Decent location - but know that it is a half-mile walk from the real "center" of things on Palafox Ave. November 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff but too noisy!! The staff at the hotel was phenomenal. We had a great experience at check-in. The room was very clean and had all the necessary amenities. The biggest issue about staying here is the noise! The train goes right next to the hotel and wakes you up several times in the middle of the night. The walls are also very thin and you can easily hear conversations in the adjacent rooms. Overall a great experience but if you want quiet you probably won't get it here! November 11, 2014

Imagine my surprise when the door opened and someone walked in. The staff had checked the person behind me into the same room! And I wasn't the only one. Convenient to all Old Town locations, NAS Pensacola and to the island/strand beaches. The hotel and staff are very gracious and helpful. The room had fantastic views, were well appointed. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel horrible location The hotel is very nice visually the problem is that it is situated on an active train route that has trains every morning. The ones I timed were 0400, 0430, 0500, 0530 each of the 2 mornings. The trains come thru blaring their horns making sleep impossible. The towels and washcloths are like using over starched sandpaper and so old you can almost see thru them. The bed is extremely uncomfortable and the wifi was unreliable at best. My cell phone providers data was faster and more stable than the hotels. The food on the breakfast buffet was luke warm and seemed as if it had been sitting out for some time. For the money spent on breakfast I would hope for at least a hot meal with some sort of variety to a buffet. All in all I can not recommend this hotel for anyone. October 27, 2014

The hotel room and atmosphere was nice, however, during the night (at 4:00am and 6:00am) on Oct 20 a train blew it's whistle and screeched it's wheels extremely long and loud. The hotel front desk said that "some guests enjoy hearing the train". This is rediculous, and I will NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN. October 25, 2014

The passing trains were so loud, that they woke me up at least three times each night. The railroad tracks were right behind the hotel. The brown water in the bathroom, was disturbing. The staff were very helpful and provided us with a very clean room with a wonderful view on the 14th floor. We used the hotel's courtesy van to the Pensacola Museum of Art. Everything about the stay went very smoothly. Finding the hotel is somewhat confusing and upon departing the next morning it took just a few minutes to determine how to access I-110 northbound. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Loud and moldy but good service This hotel is located few feet away from a railroad track. We were woken up four times per night by trains passing by. The room smelled like mold which gave me allergies and the breakfast was cold. The only positive is their staff. Everyone was very nice and helpful they just need an overhaul of the whole building and install some noise insulation October 22, 2014

The staff is friendly and helpful. There are several nice restaurants nearby and it makes dinning convenient when you want to step out quickly for dinner. The pillows and beds are very comfortable and make for restful sleep. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area. October 19, 2014
