The island has a tropical climate. Summer is from November to May with a temperature varies between 22 and 35 degrees, Winter is from May to November with a temperature variance between 17 and 26 degrees. The coastal areas are usually warmer, with the sea temperature varying between 22 and 26 degrees. The central plateau regions are cooler during these peroids. Cyclones may affect the country between November and April.

    Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, Comfortable Guestroom and Helpful Staff The resort is set on a nice location! The guestroom was pretty comfortable and we liked the cleanliness maintained by the staff. Our "Ocean View Room" added spark to our visit. All in all, we had a wonderful and memorable experience in this Balaclava Fort resort. We would like to recommend this resort for honeymoon couples and for family outings. 28 February 2014

But the management of the entire hotel is awful in all respect. hence, this hotel should not be classified as a 5 star hotel. It is really a 3 star hotel. This is not an Intercontinental Hotel.     Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by WORST HOTEL STAY EVER First of all, prior to the check in, i deliberately sent an email to provide all our requests and needs, and having received a confirmation email with details from the Reservations Dept, we thought everything would be settled. Turns out the Front Office Dept had no idea about any of my requests. At Senso the first night, we were guided to two tables to be seated. Turns out one of these tables were actually occupied by someone else so we had to change tables halfway through dinner. What a horrible first impression. Literally every day we had to inconveniently go to the Front Desk to renew our keys because they are not working for all our rooms. Housekeeping requests do not respond immediately as requested but instead, to get simple things like toothbrushes and towels, we need to make at least 3 phone calls and wait over an hour. Wifi doesn't function properly either, i can't even access the internet from my room, and i had to stand at my room door to get connection. For Christmas Eve, we chose to go to Segala Restaurant which turned out to only have one set Lobster menu for convenience. We were initially reassured by the manager that non-Lobster eaters could order separately, but in the end, they were forced to stick with a similar menu. Morever, we had to wait a very very long time in between the courses, the dinner took 2.5 hours and my family was falling asleep before the main course even came! On the last night, my parents changed rooms to Presidential Suite. In the morning, i deliberately confirmed with the hotel that the room would be available by 16:30 when we plan to return. However, by 17:30 the room was still not ready, and we were told that it would take another hour for them to check in. We had paid for this expensive room and we still cannot get it during normal check in hours? This is how to treat guests on their birthday? The most important part of the trip was also not done well: a specific instruction for the cake to be delivered to the Presidential Suite by 22:00 sharp to celebrate my dad's birthday. I had reconfirmed these details at check in, and every day so as to make sure things would go smoothly. Turns out the delivery came 35 mins late, with an unacceptable reason that there was a confusion between orders?! When i get back to my room, there was NO blanket on my bed. Which hotel takes away their guest's blanket when they make up the room? I called the operator who told me that the Housekeeping Department is closed, i cannot get a blanket but instead will only get a bedsheet. I had to talk to the manager to get my blanket back. I cannot believe that nobody at this hotel took any of our complaints seriously and just dusts us off. We will definitely not recommend this InterContinental hotel to any of our friends. 23 January 2014
