Feast Day Of The Patron Saint Of Mexico

If you're here on December 12, on the feast day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, you will see processions down the street with children dressed in traditional clothes and locals holding candles and singing litanies.
Situated on the Pacific coast of Mexico, this all-inclusive luxury resort is a beachfront paradise with amenities that cater to everyone from couples to families. Daily classes on the beach at this Ixtapa luxury hotel benefit from the stunning backdrop of the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains. The hotel offers enough to fill your itinerary, but should you want to venture out to Ixtapa, you’ll find swimming with dolphins, a crocodile habitat and shopping just minutes away.

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Old and Low Standards. Don't do it. I apologize in advance to the superb staff who have to work in an old, outdated property with owners who seem not to care and Intercontinental Hotels Group declining quality standards. I expected luxury and fine dining as advertised. Not to be. This was one of the first properties built when Ixtapa was founded. It looks like it, feels like it and is falling apart. The rooms are outdated, flash back to the 80's. The curtain rods and plumbing are rusty, and on the day of our departure the hot water line to the sink broke and flooded the room. When I tried to shut off the water the rusty valve broke off. The food was fair, but all buffet and hit and miss. Some was pretty good, but most was like cafeteria, commissary, or college dorm food. The one sit down restaurant had long lines and food that tasted like it was taken from the buffet lines. The drinks were alcohol, lots of crushed ice, syrup, sugar and soda. The beer was good, but probably because they haven't figured out how to cheapen it yet. The staff was awesome. Everyone! We had contact with the concierge, chef, and many others. They could not do enough for us and would be fantastic at any great resort. Unfortunately their talents are wasted at an over-priced, sub-par property. 09 January 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent service!! Very well maintained on our first trip to mexico we had a trip we are not likely to forget!! My fiance had a grand mal seizure on our third day there in the lobby. The concierge went above and beyond the call of duty. he called the ambulance for us and brought our group of friends to the hospital with us. Jorge then stayed with us for most of the hospital stay translating for us what the doctors were saying as the language barrier was there. He was the most thoughtful and caring man throughout our ordeal. He even went back to the hotel and brought us lunch. When we were discharged he came and picked us up and even took us to the pharmacy to fill prescriptions. He was with us throughout everything and words cannot express the gratitude we have for this man. The hotel itself is very well maintained. It is very clean and the guest services are incredible We did not have one bad meal there. Everything was delicious and well made. One of the best beaches I have ever been on. beautiful sand and it is kept very clean. We will definately return to this hotel on any future visits to mexico!! 20 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff and good food We stayed 8 nights in January and it was a pleasant vacation. The staff were all so helpful especially Michaela at the front desk. The room was small but comfortable. We had an ocean front but the view wasn't what I expected. There was a palm tree directly off our balcony that obstructed the majority of the view. The beach was great and so well maintained, not a bit of trash or rocks. Carlos was our waiter on the beach most days and was always ready with a fresh drink or glass of water. We have been to Ixtapa three times and this was our first stay at the Intercontinental. We plan to stay there again next year. I would recommend this hotel. 24 January 2013
