RECOMMENDATIONS
MORNINGIn the morning, you are greeted with a spectacular view of the grand architecture of the Country Club Plaza, which was inspired by the beauty of the southern Spanish town, Seville. A leisurely five-minute walk will take you to historic Loose Park and Rose Gardens. The park is a favorite spot for local joggers and in the summer hosts several plays and ballets. Then stop at the Classic Cup Cafe, a European-style bistro, which is a favorite restaurant for breakfast and is just steps away from the hotel. The Egg's Benedict is a must. Dining on the spacious outdoor area is the perfect start to your day. |
AFTERNOONKansas City is located in the 'Heart of America' and contains a wonderful blend of history and culture. Just off the Country Plaza is the Nelson Atkins Museum, which holds over 33,000 pieces of artwork and is recognized as one of America's finest art museums. Adjacent to the Nelson Atkins is the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and the Kansas City Art Institute. Both contain a mesmerizing display of different works. If you want something less arty, located in the historic 18th district are the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the American Jazz Museum, which both have fascinating exhibits. Before returning to the hotel, enjoy the superb shopping at the Country Club Plaza, home to famous designer stores and enchanting, local boutiques. |
EVENINGKansas City comes to life at night. Start your evening off by dining at Fiorella's Jackstack, a local favorite barbecue restaurant. After eating, embrace the flavor of Kansas City by exploring the local jazz clubs, such as the Phoenix Piano Bar. Our own Oak Bar is home to many of Kansas City's best jazz musicians.. |

WHAT TO PACKClothingWeather in Kansas City is seasonably variable in the winter and warm clothing is a definite must. Summer time is beautiful but also humid. Pack your appetiteKansas City is well known for its unique take on barbecue, with a spicy-sweet combination of flavors that accentuate the meats without covering the flavor. If barbecue is not your favorite, do not worry - Kansas City's diverse population has evolved into an equally diverse population of great restaurants. MoneyWe recommend that you exchange at least some money - just enough to cover airport incidentals. |
