LOCAL CULTURE

Dress Code and tipping in Restaurants

Most restaurants don't require formal dress. However, a number of very prestigious restaurants require jacket and tie. Normal operating hours for restaurants in Madrid are from 1pm to 3.30pm and 9pm to 11.30pm. It's reasonable to leave a 10 percent tip.
A LANDMARK MADRID HOTEL ON PASEO DE LA CASTELLANA
An 18th-century palace was the inspiration for this emblematic hotel in Madrid, situated on one of the city's most famed thoroughfares at the upscale area of Castellana Boulevard. Ideally located in the cultural and business district, the hotel is minutes from the Prado Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Real Madrid Museum and elegant Serrano shopping district. Culinary delights include El Jardin with a beautiful terrace and an exquisite menu overseen by renowned head Chef José Luque.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hotel Comfortable and inviting in every respect. After a hot and tiring day touring Madrid, one was always pleased to return to a comfortable and cool hotel, and settle down for the night in a pleasant room with a good range of TV channels and good Wi-Fi connection. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Hotel with excellent staff We stayed at this hotel from 22nd June - 26th June. We were impressed by the service from the moment we stepped out of the taxi until the moment we left. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We found this attitude throughout Madrid. Our room was on the 7th floor and had a balcony overlooking the city. The room had everything we could want, including free wifi once we had joined the "club", which was free to join. We asked for extra pillows, and they were supplied straight away. We hadn't realised until after that there was actually a menu for pillows and we could have had any pillows we wanted. Breakfast was extensive and you could have breakfast from 7 - 11am, great if you didn't want to come down early. We had a drink in the bar one afternoon, and whilst it wasn't cheap, it was no more expensive than hotels anywhere, and the portions were generous. We would like to thank the lovely young man who signed us in and told us about the club, and the older gentleman who showed us to our room, gave us a map and recommended some places to us. Sorry I don't know their names. We had a lovely stay in your hotel and lovely city, and would recommend your hotel without reservation. July 2, 2015
