Housed in an imposing neoclassical building, a short bus ride from the hotel, the Scottish National Gallery stands on The Mound. Its collections of international art and sculpture date from the Renaissance to the 20th century. Highlights include paintings by Raphael, Rubens and Cézanne. The gallery backs onto the 19th-century Princes Street Gardens, known for its iconic floral clock.
Don't Go Home Without

Don't Go Home Without

Don't miss the chance to explore Edinburgh Castle, the dramatic hilltop fortress presiding over the city. The majority of the complex was built in the 16th century, although some buildings, including the Romanesque St. Margaret's Chapel, date from the 12th century. At the Mills Mount Battery, you can see a 105mm field gun fire at 1pm from Monday to Saturday.

Given the unpredictable weather in Edinburgh, it's wise to always take an umbrella and a warm jacket with you. When it comes to travelling around the city, the primary transport network is Lothian Buses. You can buy single tickets when boarding the bus. Tell the driver where you want to go and put your money into the red fares box. Drivers don't carry change, so be sure to have the right money!
