This is the historic train station in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The building was originally one story, but over time, second and third stories were added to the side wings and later the entire structure. The building is still in use .

City Lake, located off Sunset Avenue at the Tar River, was first constructed as a Works Progress Administration project under President Franklin D. Roosevelt's administration in 1937. The lake has undergone many facelifts over the years.

The original No.2 Rocky Mount Station at 404 S. Church Street is home to over 100 years of Rocky Mount Fire Department history. The museum houses a wooden fire main, old photos of firefighters, the city's first fire alarm system and other mementos.
