Churchill Downs is america's most historic thoroughbred racetrack, and is the oldest continuously operating racetrack in the U.S. The track is a one-mile oval and the facility covers 166 acres. The grandstand, with the twin Edwardian spires is a national historic landmark. The spring meet runs from late April until early July. The Kentucky Derby is run on the first Saturday in May. The fall meet runs from Late October through late November.

There are many sightseeing/tourism activities in the Fort Knox area. Fort Knox has a population of over 40,000 Soldiers, family members and civilian employees and is the home of the Patton Museum of Cavalry and Armor which is open year round. The U.S. Department of Treasury's Kentucky Bullion Depository is located adjacent to Fort Knox however it is closed to visitors.

Don't miss the daily training demonstrations at Tiger Tundra or the splash park and playgrounds. The Louisville Zoo also features indoor and outdoor restaurants, gift shops, African petting zoo and the Conservation Carousel.
