Three is the magic number at Rushton Triangular Lodge, 10 minutes from the hotel by car. Built by Sir Thomas Tresham in the late 16th century, the folly is designed around the number three, in homage to the Catholic Holy Trinity. Explore its peculiar features for yourself – including three floors enclosed by three walls, each 33 feet long, three triangular windows and three gargoyles on the roof.
Discover hidden doorways, centuries-old Chinese wallpaper and sumptuous ballroom views at Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens, a 15-minute drive from the hotel. You can tour the rooms and gardens of this 18th-century stately home, whose "shabby chic" styling was created by society decorator Nancy Lancaster. If you feel inspired, you can also take a painting class in the Orangery, led by a trained artist.

Don't Go Home Without
Take the leap of faith at Wicksteed Park, a family-friendly theme park 15 minutes' drive from the hotel. Tumble into a huge airbag from a platform the height of two double-decker buses in one of the park's most exciting attractions. For a more sedate outing, enjoy a walk around the landscaped grounds, with lakes, an arboretum and an aviary, stopping for a serve of refreshing goats' milk ice cream.
Put your car through its paces during a track day at Rockingham Speedway, nine miles from the hotel. An open-door policy means would-be racers can bring their own vehicles. Whatever your level of experience, professional one-on-one instruction helps you get the most from your car. For an even bigger thrill, hone your techniques at the wet-grip facility or try out a classic British sports car.
