Explore the great Welsh outdoors by visiting Brecon Beacons National Park, a 30-minute drive from the hotel. You can hike to the top of a grassy mountain for sweeping views, or even go trekking with sheep. You can also head underground to view bizarrely shaped stalactites at the National Showcaves Centre for Wales. The centre also has a dinosaur park, home to hundreds of life-sized dinosaurs.
A 1-hour drive away, Heatherton World of Activities has paintballing and go-karts for adrenalin junkies, as well as an 18-hole golf course for a more relaxing day. Kids flock to the indoor play centre, and the 8-mile maze is open from July to September.
Don't Go Home Without
Beachcombers can enjoy the miles of sandy beach that line Swansea Bay, and you can promenade along Mumbles pier at its southern end. Kids can wield buckets and spades along the dramatic coastline of the Gower peninsula west of the Mumbles, a 40-minute drive from the hotel. Its enclosed inlets, like Rhossili Bay and Oxwich Bay, rank among Britain's prettiest beaches.
Get to know Wales's most famous poet by visiting the Dylan Thomas Centre, in Swansea's Maritime Quarter, a short bus ride or drive from the hotel. You can also visit the house in Uplands where the poet was born in 1914 or check out the picturesque waterside Dylan Thomas Boathouse in Laugharne, a 50-minute drive from the hotel. This is where he wrote many famous works such as "Under Milk Wood".
