Things to do

Max-Josefs-Platz: Historic gathering place

Max-Josefs-Platz, Rosenheim, 83022

Rosenheim's Max-Josefs-Platz is the heart of the city, combining charm and history. Named after King Max I Joseph of Bavaria, the area was once a bustling marketplace. Today it's a pedestrian zone with many traditional old restaurants, cafes and a variety of shops. The architecture of the square is characterized by old patrician houses in the Italian Inn-Salzach style with arcades and strikingly tall, cubic facades in cheerful colors such as light green, pink, light yellow or light blue.

Riedergarten: Where Rosenheim is in bloom

Rathausstraße, Rosenheim, 83022

The Riedergarten in Rosenheim is a peaceful green escape and a witness to history. Established in 1729 by the city's pharmacist as a garden for medicinal plants and herbs, the physician Dr. Herrmann Rieder sold the former private area to the city in 1925 as a summer garden. For the 2010 State Horticultural Show, a pharmacist's garden with medicinal herbs was restored and is now an urban retreat for walks and picnics. You'll find colorful flower beds, mature trees and a soothing fountain.

Lokschuppen Rosenheim: Urban cultural center

Rathausstraße 24, Rosenheim, 83022

The Lokschuppen in Rosenheim is a cultural center with a fascinating past that still retains its industrial charm with original brick walls and steel beams. Once a 19th century locomotive depot, it is now home to world-class natural, cultural and archaeological exhibits. Check out the calendar of exhibitions, which range from ancient Egypt and the Kingdom of Bhutan to the wonders of the rainforest and dinosaurs. Centrally located, the Lokschuppen is easy to incorporate into a visit.

Mangfall Park: Outdoor events at their best

Mangfallpark Süd, Rosenheim, 83022

Within walking distance of the city center, Rosenheim's Mangfall Park is a vibrant green space and 1.5 kilometer stretch along the Mangfall River that is open all day, all year long. It was created for the 2010 Bavarian State Garden Show and has since become a popular destination for locals and visitors. The park features walking paths and scenic views of the river, blending modern landscaping with natural beauty. Family fun is guaranteed with a children's kayak course, gym and playground.

Simssee: Size doesn't matter, location does

Simssee, Stephanskirchen, 83071

Just a short drive east of Rosenheim, Simssee is a tranquil lake surrounded by rolling hills and nature. Much smaller than Chiemsee, it's still the largest lake in the district and was formed during the last Ice Age. The remnants of this geological activity are breathtaking: clear water and beautiful scenery. And due to the international popularity of its big sister, the Simssee is less populated and much quieter. It's perfect for swimming, boating, relaxing or hiking along the shores.

Lake Chiemsee

Chiemsee, Prien am Chiemsee, 83209

Also called the bavarian sea, the Chiemsee is located in a picturesque foothills of the Alps. The lake and its surroundings offer a vast choice of leisure options ranging from activities by the lake, discovering cultural heritages like Herrenchiemsee Castle or the gorgeous mountains.

Thermal Baths Bad Aibling

Lindenstraße 32, Bad Aibling, 83043

The Bad Aibling thermal baths are particularly characterized by their characteristic domes, under which the thermal baths and various wellness facilities from the sauna area to various thermal pools are located.

Chiemgau Therme Bad Endorf

Ströbinger Str. 18, Bad Endorf, 83093

Whether thermal bath, sauna, wellness, fitness or the Dead Sea salt grotto: The Chiemgau thermal baths combine all these offers under one roof in the middle of the beautiful region Chiemgau.
