Must See
Nuremberg’s atmospheric Old Town is a maze of narrow streets, watched over by the formidable Imperial Castle. Climb the castle's Sinwell Tower to enjoy panoramic views. Within the medieval city walls, pewterers, glass cutters and leather workers still practise their crafts. Learn about the life and work of the great 16th-century artist Albrecht Dürer in his half-timbered house, now a museum.
Must Do
Kids will find all their favourite figures at Playmobil FunPark, only 25 minutes by car from the hotel. There’s a knights' castle with tournament games, a pirate ship, and a police station with police car go-karts. They can get lost in a light labyrinth, tackle the indoor climbing area and bounce on pillows or trampolines. The water playground is a great spot for cooling off in hot weather.
Don't Go Home Without
Don’t leave Nuremberg without tasting some of our local culinary delights. Everyone loves Lebkuchen – gingerbread biscuits flavoured with nuts, honey and spices. They’re a Christmas speciality, but available all year round. Nürnberger Rostbratwürstchen are the local pork sausages. Delicious slathered with mustard inside a bun, they're even better washed down with a glass of traditional Rotbier.
Smart Tips
Even if you’re just passing through, make time to explore our delightful town of Schwabach. It’s renowned for the centuries-old craft of working with gold leaf – as seen on the gilded towers of the 16th-century Rathaus. The streets of the Old Town are lined with charming half-timbered houses, and the Church of St. John and St. Martin has a remarkable, ornate Gothic altar.
