Must See
If you thought Zürich was business only, make sure to visit the formerly industrial, now trendy Zürich West quarter in District 5. Buzzing restaurants and bars, as well as boutiques and second-hand furniture shops, are housed in former warehouses or tucked into archways below train tracks. The area is also home to the Prime Tower, the city's tallest building at 126 metres.
Must Do
Zürich's crystal-clear mountain waters look good enough to swim in, and they are. On hot days, women head to the elegant, old-fashioned Frauenbad (women's bath), a wooden structure built directly on the Limmat River. Men have to rough it a bit at the more rustic Männerbad (men's bath) on the Schanzengraben Canal, but the experience is just as refreshing and exhilarating.

Don't Go Home Without
When it comes to cheese, Switzerland is at the top of its game. There are hundreds of different varieties, but the comparatively mild Emmental is what the world has come to identify as "Swiss cheese". For something with a little more bite, try the aged, pungent Bergkäse or "mountain cheese". In traditional restaurants, you can also try the famous Swiss cheese dishes, fondue and raclette.
Smart Tips
Like many European cities, Zürich is best explored by bike. Even as a visitor, you can take advantage of the city's bike-sharing program Züri rollt (roughly, "Zurich on wheels") by leaving a deposit at one of several central rental stations. Children's bikes and electric bikes are also available, making it even easier to gain a new perspective on one of Switzerland's most beautiful cities.
