WAS a nice stay until the unwelcome wake-up call

First, this was a well-kept, clean hotel. I have no complaints about the amenities or the room. It was an unfortunate incident that made this visit less than satisfactory. We stayed at this location on a Saturday night. Beginning at approx 7:30 AM (on Sunday), the guests above us began running and stomping across the floor. At one point, it sounded as if a person was running then throwing themselves down onto the floor (a series of stomps, then a loud boom). This went on for at least an hour. I finally got up, got dressed and went down to the front desk to complain (8:30–9 AM). I told the gentleman at the front desk that whoever was in the room above us was making a lot of noise constantly. He did not offer to call that room, he did not offer to compensate us for having our stay disturbed. His only reply was, "Well, they're scheduled to leave in within the hour." This did not help us, because we were scheduled to leave by 10 AM, and our sleep was disturbed for 2 hours prior to our departure. Sensing that he was not going to help me further, I walked away to get coffee to take back to the room because I knew my fiance was now up. While I was doing that, my fiance actually called down from the front room to complain. No one picked up the phone. My fiance then got dressed and came down to complain in person. I waited for him in the dining area while he spoke with the front desk. The desk attendant asked my fiance why he hadn't called up to that point to complain. My fiance said that he had indeed tried to call, but no one picked up, which is why he came down to speak with someone in person. My fiance asked that our complaint be escalated to management, and the attendant told him that he didn't think that his manager would respond to us on a Sunday. My fiance was not satisfied with this answer, but we had no other options for recourse. The Hospitality Promise posted in the rooms states that we should let the Manager on Duty know if any part of our stay is not satisfactory and that Holiday Inn will "make it right". On Sunday morning, the person on duty (who was not a manager?) would not help us and did not make it right. We checked out way earlier than intended, dissatisfied and put off. What was supposed to be a relaxing morning at this hotel was ruined.
