The centerpiece of the Higgins Memorial Project is a life-sized replica of a Higgins boat made of steel and set in sand as if beached. The ramp is down to allow visitors to walk inside. Sand samples collected from numerous invasion beaches are mixed with the sand surrounding the boat.

Lake North Campground offers swimming, fishing, and playing golf, so you won’t run out of things to do. Through the warm days of summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Lake North Campground. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 60's. Highs all through the winter are usually in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Lake North Campground. We have 5 sets of tees which start out at 5200 yards. The Quail Run Golf Course is open to the public with a very accessible tee time policy (7-days in advance).

The 18-hole "Elks" course at the Elks Country Club facility in Columbus, Nebraska features 6,565 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 72.0 and it has a slope rating of 122 on Rye grass. Designed by Richard M. Phelps, ASGCA, the Elks golf course opened in 1965. Craig Jelinek manages the course as the General Manager
