Disappointing wait for the room. While not expecting to be able to check in for early arrival, I did not expect to have to wait an hour and a half past check-in time. They don’t have any way of notifying you via call or text when your room is ready, so you have to continue to go up to the desk to ask if your room is ready-very poor customer service in this area. Rooms were clean/bed comfortable. There should be extra toilet paper and kleenex in the room since rooms are no longer serviced daily. We also had no hand soap in the dispenser so we had to get soap from tub each time we had to wash out hands-another negative of not having hand soap bars in the rooms. Holiday Inn is a brand we have counted on through the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and beyond until today. I am always disappointed when my experience is not a 5star rating.

Location was nice. Room was nice. Pool needs more shade areas and breakfast was definitely not worth $19 per person. Typical breakfast at a holiday inn that is free in other properties. Eggs, grits, bacon, waffles. No sausage or biscuits and gravy, some muffins and cereal. For free it would be a typical continental but don't pay for it.
Enjoyed the stay but small issues considering.

We were looking forward to our stay and had one small issue after another from partial beach view after paying a premium price to no towels to loud noise from toilet. Asked for early check-in and said none available for awhile and our friend did 10 minutes later. Overall I liked the experience and location, just add about $50.00 dollars a day in taxes and resort fees to your room price. Again, just dated and not the best Holiday Inn compared to others. The hotel is updated older hotel with outside doors and patio which is good for a beach hotel. Just loud A/C when sitting on the patio sometimes. Same breakfast I would get at any Free Holiday Inn Breakfast Hotel and its $19.00 if you didn't prepay.
The restaurant is good food and price point for lunch and dinner. The beach access is great and location. Family and Pet Friendly. Quiet relaxing atmosphere.

We had the best trip and will be back! Everything we needed was at the resort. The restaurant has amazing service and wonderful food! Highly recommend the fish tacos and blackened redfish! All of the staff members from the hotel to the restaurant were very friendly and helpful! A perfect walk to the beach and playground for the kids! Can’t wait to go back!

Excellent view and very well cleaned just needed housekeeping a little bit more. Overall it was an amazing experience and we would love to come back!!! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in a vacation!

The amenities, beach access, and surrounding environment were absolutely fantastic. However, the hotel room itself was underwhelming. For those with allergies, the carpeting poses a major issue—it appears old and poorly maintained. While housekeeping seemed to visit daily, they did not make the beds or empty the trash, which accumulated in the bathroom. The only sign of their presence was the removal of used towels and the placement of a single clean towel, despite our party consisting of two adults and one child. No effort was made to vacuum or thoroughly clean the room throughout our stay from July 3 to July 6. This property has great potential, but it desperately needs updated flooring and better-trained housekeeping staff to ensure rooms are properly cleaned and stocked each day.
One of the most frustrating aspects of our stay was that the bar staff from Restaurant 24 frequently used the guest ice machines to supply ice for their bar. As a result, both machines were often completely empty multiple times throughout the day, making it inconvenient for guests.

Shower had no hot water. Reported it with a cell phone call and was ignored. Finally went to the front desk (because the room phone was dead) the next morning. Was given the key to the room next door so I could take a hot shower. Imagine my shock when A staff member came in my locked door and saw me naked as I was getting dressed.
Breakfast is buffet only. Saw a guest drop a serving utensil on the floor and put it right back in the food. Not monitored by staff.
This is a very old hotel that was renovated to become a Holiday Inn. The other hotel I stayed in on the same trip was a very nice new combination Courtyard/Residence Inn and was excellent. Consider that for your stay at Jekyll Island.

We had a very nice stay. The room was clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. We will definitely be back and recommend this resort if you’re staying on Jekyll Island.

It was a summer vacation for my nieces and they had a good time and that's all that matters. The room was very dated and those beds were the worst things I have ever slept on. I will never do that again. The pool and restaurant on site were a redeeming factor but didn't expect the ocean to be as dirty as it was. It was our first and last time on the island.

I reserved (2) oceanside suites and (1) ocean view room for our annual family get-together. I made sure that I noted on the reservations and followed up with a phone call 1 week in advance that we would like our rooms to be as close as possible. I even asked if they had the capability of offering "adjoining rooms." I was told that they did not have this capability. When we checked in at 4:00 p.m., the (2) suites were near one another on one side of the property but my room was on the opposite (as far as you could get). I brought this up to the hotel clerk but was dismissed saying that they could not accommodate this request. When I tried explaining that I had specifically asked for this, he dismissed me again going to the next person waiting in line behind me. Also, there WAS definitely the capability of joining rooms! I was very disappointed with the way this was handled. Thank goodness, as a 70-year old adult, I was physically able to walk the distance to visit with my children and grandchildren or it would have been a total nightmare. He also did not give me our breakfast tickets that I had paid for. I had to make another trip to get these.

We've stayed at this property multiple times over the years (starting in 1984), in its many iterations between various hotel brands. Right now it's owned by IHG and calls itself the Holiday Inn Resort. It falls short of what an actual resort should be.
The biggest issue, and the reason that we will not be returning is the cockroach problem. I had always been concerned about bedbugs, but we've never seen evidence of those. This year, I killed a cockroach on the walkway outside of our room and we had a roach scampering about on our bathroom vanity, around (and probably inside of) my toiletry kit.

The resort fee gets you free 2-hour bike rentals sunup to sundown (no helmets, only adult bikes), towels provided at the pool, and kids eat free in the new Coastal 24 restaurant.
We had high hopes for the changes that occurred between summer 2024 and summer 2025, but they weren't great changes. In order for kids to eat free, adults must order at least one item off the menu. For lunch and dinner, that's not a big problem, since there is a menu of items to choose from. However, for breakfast it's a big problem. They chard adults $19/person for the breakfast buffet which is no different than the free buffet you will find at any Holiday Inn Express. Well, actually, the buffet might be smaller. It's certainly not worth $19/person. And it's the only breakfast choice for adults. We opted to purchase cereal and frozen waffles for our room. Seriously, it's laughable that they want adults to pay $19/person for that low quality of food.
The hotel used to have laundry and ice at the ends of the corridor for each floor of the hotel. They decided to remove the multiple options and instead offer one washer and one dryer for the entirety of the property. This is ridiculous for a hotel that is located on the beach and has always offered guest laundry services. Now you have to walk all the way to the lobby and hope no one else is using the washer/dryer. I'm not convinced the washer uses enough water. We fly in from another state and rely on guest laundry services so that we can pack only what we need and get multiple wears. With 2 kids in the family and staying beachfront to play in the murky Atlantic water, we need a washing machine. Our clothes did not come out clean and the detergent didn't all get used up.
There was a large shouting match between adults at the pool. It got very heated and scary. The restaurant manager came out but offered no real help. No authorities were actually called, even though the manager said he had called them. When asked later he said he had only said that to de-escalate the situation. That left us feeling unsafe.
Coffee is a dire situation at this hotel. They offer a keurig in the room, but you're at the mercy of housekeeping actually leaving you coffee pods. If they don't, you have to walk all the way to the lobby to request them. The hotel gives you free coffee vouchers, each voucher granting you 2 cups of coffee from the cafe above the lobby. You have to get there before 10, though. And the voucher is good for black coffee only. It won't even cover iced coffee. Outside of the cafe hours, there is no other coffee option. We always struggle, as coffee lovers. We can't fly with our own coffee pot. We could fly with our own stash of ground coffee, though, if they provided an actual coffee pot and not just a Keurig.
This hotel does not plan well for towels. It is beyond me why they only put 2 or 3 sets of towels in a room that has 4 people on the reservation. Then they run out of towels around Tuesday. They were never able to supply enough wash cloths. At one point they said they had run out of wash cloths completely. We had to bath with hand towels, too, at one point. In life, not a huge problem. But when you're staying at a resort that charged us between $365-$455 per night, towels should not be a problem.
The firepits that we've used every year do not work anymore. In past years the firepits have been turned on each night, or you have to request to have them turned on. But they've always been usable. This year, the front desk simply said they don't turn on this year. This was disappointing since we have an annual tradition of making s'mores at the firepits.
It's worth noting that this property has the absolute best location for a beachfront hotel. You cannot beat the free parking that is right by your room and the beachfront views to gorgeous sunrises. The walk to the beach is the shortest for all of the hotel properties on Jekyll. It's a superb location.
However, the amount they charge is too much for the value you receive in amenities.

This place should not be listed as a "Resort".
I will list all the issues mu wife and I encountered on a three day weekend from April 17 thru April 20.
1. After checking inn, we noticed there were no chairs on the balcony. We were told by the rude desk person that "none were available". He said to we could take chairs from the room out to the balcony! We insisted that the reason we booked the ocean from room was to sit out and enjoy the view. After we came back from dinner, miraculously, there was a table and 2 chairs on the balcony.
2. The room was not set up like the photo on the website. There were no cabinets on the wall for plates or silverware. The silverware was located on a shelf about 3 inches from the floor! The silverware was dirty like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks! The microwave was on another shelf just above the silverware! There was a hot plate on top of the refrigerator that we would have to use a chair to stand on to reach it.
3. There was some substance on the rug behind a chair.
4. The outside of the door to the balcony was not finished being painted. It had red and green splotches all over it.
5. When the housekeeping manger came to our room to discuss these issues, all we heard from here were a bunch of excuses what the room was in the shape we found it.
As a Diamond Elite IHG member, I have never been in a "resort" that was in such disarray. IHG should consider dropping this property from their family!
