I had a very disappointing experience with the reception staff at this Holiday Inn, particularly with a staff member named Stef. During check-in, I was treated rudely despite having prepaid £210 for a three-night stay. I was asked to provide my card details for a small city tax charge (around £3), but I was understandably hesitant to share my card information due to concerns about data misuse. I offered to pay in cash but didn’t have the exact amount on me at the time.
Shockingly, Stef refused to check me in solely over the £3 charge, even though my stay was fully paid. This was not only unreasonable but also incredibly poor customer service. To make matters worse, a friend who checked in separately at the same location was never asked to pay the city tax at all, which raises serious concerns about the consistency and fairness of their policies.
Overall, this experience was appalling and has made me question the standards of this particular Holiday Inn branch. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and reviews their front desk practices and staff training.

Room and bathroom appeared to be well maintained and cleaned.
Breakfast was a let down - all cold and soggy. Coffee machine was shocking!
Very hot over night, thermostat made no difference. No opening windows.

Good selection of hot and cold food for Breakfast. Difficult to get a table during peak times. Rooms were clean and comfortable but a bit small. Three of us in one room using the pull out sofa bed meant there was very little room at all.

Terrible stay do not stay here at this hotel and avoid atall costs. Hotel staff don't seem to care. Wasn't acknowledged as a member. Treated differently. Requested room on high floor away from life and got totally the opposite. They claimed to have lost the email and it wasn't their problem because the staff member in question wernt here the previous days. Absolute disgrace of a hotel and gone so much downhill. There was hair on the bed too. Had late check out on the day of departure and they still wanted to knock of the door and attempt to open it when I was undressed out of the shower!!!!!

Poor basic hotel for £250/night. Dirty carpets, aircon not working, shower just a trickle, not enough tables for breakfast, room not ready to check-in at 4pm. Only one large towel for 3 people. Very poor experience won’t stay again.

Not greeted as an IHG member, allocated a accessable room and advised I requested it. Didn't and asked for a change refused. Offered a free drink when found out platinum member, never received the voucher. Hotel room was dated and uncomfortable. Stayed in nicer HI Express hotels that are much nicer. Wouldn't return.

I stayed here for 2 nights as I was attending a concert in the area with a friend. The beds were comfortable, the view from our room was stunning, the room was absolutely spotless and the breakfast choices were excellent. In my opinion there could have been a little bit more choice, but I was slightly late to breakfast so that may have been why. All in all the service was excellent and I will definitely be staying here again.

First time staying at this hotel. Impressed with friendliness and helpfulness of staff, hotel, rooms clean and tidy. Particularly pleased that bedding was hypoallergenic, which is important to us...would recommend and would stay here again.
