Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Could have been better I'm not sure whether I was just unfortunate in my room assignment so am not sure about how my comments relate to other rooms. I wonder whether my room had recent maintenance work and hadn't been checked before I showed up. There was a musty smell in the hall but my room smelled of fresh paint, except there were paint peeling areas on the bathroom door and door jams. There were carpet backing strings sticking out of the carpet edges around much of the room. There was a red plastic wall anchor laying on the carpet in the middle of the room. There was some sort of powdery substance on the carpet in several corners and in the bathroom door jam area. The carpet had not been thoroughly vacuumed under the desk. The pad of HI paper I wanted to use to list issues had only one sheet of paper and that was used. I went down to the reception desk several times but there was only one person working and they were busy with other customers. I was too tired to press the issue and the bed appeared clean so I decided to bring the issues to the attention of the staff when I checked out. It was not a quiet room and there was a lot of noisy activity in the hallway until about midnight. At check-out I told them the issues and suggested they thoroughly check the room before renting it again. I gave them the wall anchor and offered to show them the concerns I had in the room. The staff on duty said they would check the room and apologized but offered nothing to offset the negative experience. I would not stay here again. September 7, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Disappointed Overall, I have become disillusioned with the Holiday Inn brand hotels and plan on upgrading my stays in the future with another chain whenever possible. However, I I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Hope Mills, NC and found it to be updated and comfortable. September 3, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms Both Very Musty/Damp My family and I had two rooms next to each other on the first floor an they were both very damp and musty. Maybe the upper floors or other parts of the hotel were better but ours were terrible. Rooms 162 and 164. Rooms were clean but dated a bit and the doors to the hallway had a big gap at the bottom and you could see right out to the hallway. I did not care for that. Bottom of the door inside one bathroom was coming apart and spitting. Breakfast buffet in the restaurant was pretty good. Key card access from the outside was very temperamental. August 29, 2014
