Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable room and great service Comfortable room and great service. Very big and nice room. April 26, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid if possible After a 10 min wait for check-in (no designated check-in for Priority Club), my room rate was not correctly recognized. It was a weekend package but receptionists did not even know such packages are sold through IHG website. I was upgraded to executive room that does not offer much more over standard anyway. So do not pay for it as hotel is already overpriced as counting mainly on business travelers. On the third day, I left the room after breakfast, came back around lunch time and the room was not clean yet ("executive" floor). Breakfast buffet is overpriced: do not expect eggs made to order; instead if you are lucky enough maybe you will get something from the buffet. Traditionally in this part of the world you will find a choice of hot dishes that no one is eating and do not look appetizing at all. Limited choice of cold snacks of bad quality. Smoked salmon is tasteless, and cut in 1mm slices, so the whole plate is gone in 2 mins. I found salads from the buffet on day before. On any single day I was unable to get a table with a proper set of cuttlery. Coffee is terrible, machines broke often; avoid cheap juices. Good that there was some yoghurt and ok bread/pastries. Staff not attentive at all. Dinner made to order is probably the best of food offered in this hotel, again: overpriced. Check other much better places in the city. Buffet dinner - if you want something cheaper and do not mind quality, go for it - but there are many better options in this city for such budget. I had bookings made for some of my friends (2 extra rooms for 2 nights) - even if booked through Holiday Inn website, in their system appeared like just 1 extra room. Gym room - pretty small; few cardio machines plus 2 benches with some barbells. Wi-fi connection now finally is free of charge, speed varies, apart from weekends it is really slow. Beautiful mountains can be seen between the buildings on the upper/back floors only. Still it will be between the buildings. On the last morning I have got a pro forma invoice that was showing the wrong amounts. I have left it at the reception to check and correct while having the breakfast. After around 20 mins it was not corrected and I spent another 20 mins at the reception to argue about my package once again. Conclusion: This was a one week stay so I had a chance to try much more than an average guest. If you just need a bed for a night it is definitely fine place to stay if you do not mind the price tag, but even if you are a loyal client, get a better hotel: I found some good alternative. Upgrade to Executive Floor was probably the best out of everything in this hotel. April 6, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Rishat at Reception Desk of Holiday Inn Almaty It is third time I am staying in Holiday in Almaty and perhaps more than hundred times in Holiday Inn globally. It so pleasant to see a nice smile, friendly reception, respectful welcome and helpful attitude after having a long flight when arriving this hotel. I must say I have been lucky to have all these three times out of four stay at Holiday Inn Almaty. And of course thanks three times to Rishat at the Reception Desk for all these. Rishat was always smiley, friendly respectful and helpful every time I checked in to the Holiday Inn Almaty, no matter was early morning or very late evening. Thanks to him and congratulate Holiday Inn Almaty for having Rihsat on board. Hamid from Surrey, UK April 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel Excellent service, nice hotel, very pleasant stay. March 12, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not in the standard of other Holiday Inn hotels Airport service expensive and not professional. Not even help to carry our suitcases to the car park. Give priority access to the restaurant to groups involved in meetings rather than the hotel guests. The night buffet is expensive and low food selections (sometimes you have to wait a long time before food refill). There was no drinking water in the room at check in but only in the minibar. Finally do not give the alarm when you leave and you can risk to losing the plane! Actually a very low standard and not like the other Holiday Inn and not absolutely in accordance with the asking price. March 1, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff, attentive and caring The hotel sits in close proximity to museums and other areas of interest. Rooms are clean and comfortable. I had laghman the evening of my stay. I wouldn't recommend it. Mine had a very heavy dose of hot pepper. I mentioned it to the staff but nothing came of it. The lounge area is very nice. The only drawback for me was the TV in the lounge is tuned to a hip-hop/rap video channel. I can't stand rap. It's not what I want to hear when I am trying to relax. I left before breakfast was served but the lounge had complimentary croissant, yogurt, tea and coffee which was perfect for me. February 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Service and I found the staff (in general) to be very friendly and welcoming. They were very service-orientated and made me feel valued as a guest. The rooms were good, warm and comfortable. Location is a little distant and hotel-related taxis expensive, so best to walk or walk out to the street to get a taxi. February 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 A place to relax I have been stayed in Holiday Inn Almaty. The service here is good and I always have good the breakfast. For some people the location may not be the best (not in the down town) but for me it is quite and easy to reach. January 25, 2013
