Great Hotel and Staff. Management works hard to make sure you have a enjoyable stay. The new large pillows are very comfortable. Corner rooms are my favorite. Henry takes great care of in the bar area.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by SadBusinessWoman Confusing, and Bad
Let me start by saying my husband and I own our own business and because of this we travel 3+ weekends a month often checking in to hotels Thursday thru Monday. So as you can imagine we spend ALOT of time in hotels. Never had I had this much confusion and craziness in all our travels. I made my reservation over the phone on Tuesday night, my conformation arrived and it was wrong. So Thursday Morning I called and remade our reservation. When I arrived at the hotel Friday morning my reservation was still wrong. So I explained to the Lady at the desk that I have called twice and now she makes the third person I had talked to and I need for the reservation to be fixed, again. She told me she took care of it and there would be no problem. So I spent the day doing business and around dinner time I went to the front desk to ask about there restaurant. As I was walking to the front desk I heard a guest saying how there was already someone in the room that they had assigned him and then they said oh that's "my Husbands Name" room but he leaves tomorrow so we can give that room away then. I walked up and said "my Husbands Name"? I then explained AGAIN that they AGAIN had our reservation wrong and that we were not leaving the next day and that this was now the 4th person I had talked to about it. So I got it fixed AGAIN and proceeded to go to my room. When I get there our keys don't work. I go downstairs and explain this, this time talking to the manager. She apologizes for all the confusion and gives us vouchers for free breakfast for the duration of our stay. I'm still frustrated but that makes it a bit better. So with new keys in hand I go up to my room and quickly discover why the other keys didn't work. While my husband and I were away doing business they had checked us out of our room and checked that guy I had overheard at the front desk complaining that "some one else was already in that room" into our room. Our stuff had been moved around, our phone was off the hook, our closet was open. some of my belongings were on the floor. Needless to say I WAS MAD!!!!!!! My husband realizing I had gotten to my breaking point went downstairs and talked to the manager AGAIN. At first they acted like they had no idea what he was talking about but then with the fact that I was there at the front desk when that "Other Guest" had been talking about our room and the fact that our stuff was all over the place they finally admitted that Yes they did let someone else into our room. They comp'd us our room and kind of apologized, but they seemed angry about it. I just don't understand how they could have messed up this many times. I stay at a lot of hotels, I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly but this was just WRONG!!! Even now I still feel violated. Knowing that someone had been in my room and handled my stuff is just invasive. You expect a certain level of safety and privacy and all that was taken away. I have @ 50 hotel stays a year ranging from 2 days to 2 weeks and I don't know if any of them will ever bee in a Holiday Inn or its affiliates again. The sad part was I really loved the room. It had a balcony, and had just been redone. I loved the adjustable reading lights on the headboard. The restaurant was OK I'm sure if they remodel it and update the menu it to could be great, and the Hotel was perfectly located. However the loss of trust and the feeling of violation is just to great. Hopefully no one ever has to go thru what my husband and I has to.

Not in the greatest part of Austin due to the mall being pretty much closed down. But in all hotel was VERY NICE, would stay their again! Very clean, very updated! Had a nice bar and restaurant all right there, so you didn't have to leave for anything! I was a little disappointed it didn't have a complimentary breakfast included, but restaurant was available for breakfast.

I had the unfortunate experience of checking in during an Anime convention. The entire hotel, including each floor elevator lobbies and hallways were taken over by youth in freaky costumes. As a business traveler I should have been told and given the option of staying elsewhere. The staff's only response was that it would be over in two days. Shame on you Holiday Inn. I am rethinking the priority of my hotel loyalty programs. There was also no welcome or recognition of my gold status.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RonArl great staff
Front desk staff were always quick, friendly and helpful. Need a few copies of some paperwork; no problem. Reservation change was easy and efficient.
Breakfast servers were incredible. I stay there for a week at a time about 4 times a year. One young lady remembers that I like a juice combination of orange juice and cranberry juice in the same glass despite the time between stays.

The hotel was remodeled, and the room were nice. The staff was welcoming and pleasant. I have two problems with my stay (1) it was hot in the hallways while waiting foe the elevators, and the elevators were not working properly. I have stay at this hotel for the last 4 year and the company should just spend the money to replace the elevators

This hotel is located right next to a defunct mall and across the street from some shady looking apartments. From my patio I could see cars parking next to each other and then leaving quickly so not sure what was going on there. I came for a conference that was in the same hotel so I never had to leave the hotel, which was a bonus. I was concerned because I had to park at the back of the hotel but there were a lot of DPS troopers there (the DPS training site is nearby) so I felt a little better. I would not recommend this hotel to a woman traveling alone if you were going to be coming and going a lot - especially at night.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by racmac Not a good location, dark rooms, unreliable housekeeping personnel
In all, not a very nice experience. The location is not nice if you do not rent a car. The mall right across the hotel is closing, and there is nothing to do nearby, unless you want to take the Greyhound bus which is right in front of the hotel. Breakfast buffet is alright, but the evening service is dreadful. If you do not like the buffet you can just leave because there is not even the possibility of asking for a sandwich. The rooms are quite dark and not really inviting. The cleaning staff is not nice. I had a bad experience with housekeeping the day of my departure, and worst of all the day following my departure.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by mw22 hard to find
This hotel is located in a really weird place. You can see it from the road but it's VERY hard to actually get to. The directions on the website are wrong/misleading/incomplete/vague. Call the hotel for more accurate help. Also, the big mall next to the hotel (also mentioned on the website) is now closed and empty. Nothing within walking distance to eat or do. Ghost town area.
We asked for a rollaway bed for our room. We were told "yes" on the phone. But the front desk told us we couldn't have one. My kids took turns sleeping on the VERY uncomfortable sectional chair. And, there were no extra blankets in the closet. Bring your own tea bags. At least the hotel gym had free weights and enough space to use them. No weight bench though.
We were at the hotel for an event. I hope we don't have to go back next year. I would NOT recommend this hotel!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by FrequentTraveler111 Overall fair stay but few issues
The location of this property is good based on convenience to Austin, but difficult to navigate. We seemed to only be able to access it from behind, through the adjacent mall's parking lot. It was not a great area of town, experienced by finding a homeless man sleeping on bench in front of hotel. Property is undergoing a remodeling effort, with sections of the downstairs closed due to construction. Final result will be lovely, it appears, although the cost of an overnight stay or dining may increase, lessening the value of a night's stay. The room was comfortable, although the bathroom had not been thoroughly cleaned (dust in tub, etc.).
I recommend this hotel for its current value and general cleanliness.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ColeenSanLeon Relaxing evening poolside
My husband and I were looking forward to an nice evening away from the house (we live in Austin) just to spend some uninterrupted time together. We checked in, hung out by the pool which was the perfect temperature, not crowded at all and very relaxing. Then we went and had a nice dinner in the room and watched the basketball playoffs on TNT in the room and just enjoyed our time together. The restaurant was being remodeled but they still offered room service and the next morning the staff invited us to a free buffet breakfast with breakfast tacos, sausage muffins, pastries and more just due to the inconvenience of the restaurant not being open. That was such a nice surprise!!

I stayed here recently for the Paul Mccartney concert. I really enjoy staying at Holiday Inns and Express'. This one was no different.
The staff was very nice, I did not utilze the bar, or any other facility in the hotel. I just used the room.
I had only only issue and it was a major one. The pillows are way too small. Postage stamps are bigger than these pillows.
It affected our sleep. We could not get comfortable and had a very poor night sleeping because of that.

My husband and I had a great (business) weekend at Holiday Inn Midtown. Rooms were great, the bed was very comfortable, and it's so nice to have 4 HBO channels to choose from. We were able to have buffet breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and a BBQ supper on Saturday evening, and it was really good. Service was excellent throughout the entire weekend. We have stayed here before and I'm sure we'll stay here again.

I always stay at this hotel, this one is my favorite! But I suppose you have your good and bad stays (even at your favorite). There was a "hot water" issue when we arrived to check in. There was absolutely no hot water! I could tell the staff was beginning to get overwhelmed by the guest complaints but, I knew it wasn't their fault. The water was back on by around 10 or 11 pm #had left and returned#. Then everything was back to normal. So for having a huge set back, everything was still fine.

The room is comfortable, location is closed to 35. However, only provide one breakfast buffet per room, another one has to purchase it. Otherwise, it's a perfect place to stay in Austin.

I came to Austin to attend a convention held on this property. I found the staff exceptionally attentive, pleasant and just downright sweet. Whoever hires and trains for this HI, that person is doing an excellent job! I would return to this hotel for a stay the next time I'm in Austin.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by eljefe3126 Clean, good service
My organization held a national meeting for about 100 members, with multiple sessions in parallel on each day. Although the Austin Midtown did not offer the amenties usually associated with a major convention hotel, the venue was clean and comfortable, and the staff more than met the needs for our 3-day meeting. This hotel provided good value...meeting all our needs without charging an arm and a leg.

I was a little put off by the location initially. But the comfort of the room, the friendliness of the staff, and the full-service restaurant and bar quickly won me over.
Great meeting rooms for functions, modern renovated rooms, and food. Close to some shopping options and not far from tourist activity downtown with 6th street or the state buildings.
If you want a refrig in the room, request it early.

I've stayed here twice and enjoyed both times. This time, the bed had the small pillows which was unusual and a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, everything was great. The breakfast buffet was very good, nothing fancy like crepes or champagne but if you want some good breakfast food, this is the place.
