Great hotel, scary neighborhood near the airport.
We lost an iPod while at the hotel. We called the staff, they found it and promptly called us back. We picked it up later in the week.
While I would not recommend jogging around the hotel, it worked great for the nature of our trip. Well maintained property.

This is a great hotel for early morning flights out of Birmingham. The shuttle service is excellent and the people that work there are kind and knowledgable about the hotel an the area around it. My husband and I have stayed here several times after football games at UA.

Could you tell me the reason why the charge for breakfast at Steel City Bar And Grill islisted? (See the chain mail attached below)
I was very surprised that the breakfast was charged when I saw my credit card balance. Because I booked the room with “Best Flexible with Breakfast” rate type, as you can see the fact clearly by the e-mail attached.

Unfortunately I was expecting a better accomodation specially when you spent 5 hrs in an airport waiting for the plane to depart until it was canceled. I don't know if the fact that I was a distressed passenger made them give me a horribly smelly room. I asked to be changed and they did changed me but the room was as smelly as the previous one. Had to purchase downy dryer sheets to remove the smell of cigarrettes of the room. I have to travel to BHM frequently and I hope this hotel improves.

This hotel is not up to Holiday Inn standards. I have stayed in HI hotels all over the country, and never had a problem until now. The two adjoining "non-smoking" rooms I booked both wreaked of cigarette smoke. We changed rooms (to another floor) and had the same problem. My asthmatic daughter had trouble all night long, and I couldn't stop coughing. It was too late to leave to go to another hotel, but I considered it. I will NEVER stay here again. Here is a tip: If you call yourself a non-smoking hotel, actually BE non-smoking.

The staff was very helpful when I checked in with no reservations and the security guard on duty made me feel very safe.
Room was clean and comfortable.

The exterior of the hotel looks dated and inside needs some paint touch ups, but overall, updated and very clean on the inside. The front desk staff were wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The only issue with the room was the location. Right outside our room were the fans for the building and the lights outside were so bright that the room really didn't get dark enough. The room has sheers on the windows, but the curtains are just small panels that you can't close. Also, this is minor, but we wanted some coffee from the restaurant the next morning which would have been free, but the coffee pot was empty and we didn't have time to wait for coffee to brew. Overall though, clean room and nice folks.

My stay at the Holiday Inn-Birmingham Airport was so relaxing. I felt like I was visiting with friends and family. The folks in the restaurant/ bar helped me celebrate my birthday beautifully. Thank you to Sara, Chelsea, and the gang!!! And, after such a party, it was great to have an early morning ride to the airport, hassle free!!
You folks ROCK!!

Very convenient to airport including the shuttle. It is an old hotel that shows by the condition of the bathrooms and the old smell. It appears to be in a high crime neighborhood evident by the security station inside the hotel. Good for a one night stay but definitely not for an extended period. A little pricey for the condition of the hotel.

For the price paid this Holiday Inn was not worth it. Food and Beverage were good but as far as the room being clean it left much to be desired. The Fridge was noisy and the stand it was on was falling apart. The bathtub was moldy and had not been scrubbed down, probably just sprayed and washed out. The shower head was plugged up with calcium deposits and just overall bathroom was not clean and up to the standards of a comfort inn for the same price. Pretty bad location for this Hotel as well. Not there fault, they do have security on site but fair warning.

1st they try to mask the smell of the rooms with air freshener that will give you a headache. People at check in couldn't care less weather you are there or not. I was called home late on my 2nd day there because my son was admitted to the hospital and they insisted on charging for my stay anyway.

Shuttle service to airport was very good. I did not have a car, and walked to a nearby (100 yards) fast food restaurant and was accosted by multiple homeless individuals. This is not a good neighborhood, but the hotel itself is fine.

I made a reservation for ( I thought) Holiday Inn Express, not Holiday inn. I did not know it was just holiday in until I got there. The room I stayed in was nice, it was just next to a street where fire trucks and ambulance kept going by. And there was no complimentary breakfast. I dont think I will ever stay at this location again.

I stayed in this room for one night, which was one night to many. My door would not close unless I jiggled the handle. When I woke up the next morning and got in the shower the tub was clogged and filled up with water so only one person could shower or the tub would of overflowed. When I told the font desk about the situation they said they would credit my account so I left happy. But then I never received any credits. I tried to contact the manager for over a month, left several messages and never received a call back. I was able to finally get a hold of the manager he promised he would fix the problem and never did. My company has stayed with this brand of hotels for the past 6 years earning close to a million points in one year. I can guarantee that I am going to push to change to a different brand of hotels.

I stay at Holiday Inns on pretty much on a weekly basis, this one was not a keeper. There were missing tiles in the ceiling over my shower. The rooms were not clean, and there was always a line at the front desk when I went down to the lobby. I will not be staying here ever again!

The bartender was hilarious. Most incompetent employee I have ever seen. He would walk by you and ignore you I don't know how many times. He had one speed. SLOW. It wasn't just us. It was everybody. The guy next to me asked for some Honey Mustard for his burger at least 4-5 times and finally got it.
The gentleman at the front desk who checked us out was a great guy. Friendly. Had a nice chat with him and the security guy. Early in the morning on May 6th before leaving. Appreciated the shuttle service back to the hotel and back to the airport. Very short wait. Proximity to airport a Big Plus!

After getting in line to check in at 2:30pm, I attempted to check in at 2:45pm with several other people. I was told no rooms are available until the 3:00pm check in. At 3:00pm, our rooms were magically ready! I do not believe the rooms were not ready, I believe they were sticking to the 3:00pm check-in rule. I've never seen this before. Then, when choosing not to receive the IHG rewards gift bag, I did not receive the 500 points I was supposed to. To top it off, I wanted to do some laundry and this hotel does not have a laundry room. I was told that they only have the laundry service. Again, first time I have ever heard of this. Hotel itself was fine, but some seemingly obvious improvement is needed.

From check-in, front desk staff unfriendly and irritated when asked questions. Internet service very slow, no service at all 2nd day of stay. Mildew around ceiling of shower, heat/AC not working properly with very loud motor bearings; could not use while sleeping due to loud noise. TV very old and very poor picture. Overall very disappointing experience, checked out during evening of second nite because of problems.
