Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Awaiting a refurbishment They have just started a re fit and not before time! The air conditioner leaked so the floor as very wet. The bedroom and bathroom although very clean was shabby looking. We could also hear noise in the street from our second floor room and the people in the next room. The staff at reception were very polite and helpful. We had a very nice breakfast the dining room clean and a good choice of food. September 25, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Tired and in need of a refurbishment I have stayed in many different Holiday Inn properties and this is by far the worst. The whole place looks quite down at heel and knocked about. Our first room was still unmade at 3pm in the afternoon! We were allocated another room, with a sea view, which turned out to be a view that was only possible by craning your neck to look down the side street on to which we faced! The bed was a king-size but made up of two separate beds poorly fitted together. The air con did not lower the torts tire of the room. Generally I would expect far higher standards from Holiday Inn so I left feeling quite disappointed. As I booked with Avios points, I didn't worry about it too much but if I had paid good money I would be very upset. It is due a refurbishment to be fair but it is long overdue! September 17, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by An average stay compared to other HI Brighton HI is in a great location on the seafront, near the shops and piers etc but is in need of some improvements. Firstly it is an old and dated looking hotel (currently being renovated) which just needs some tender loving care to make it look smart again. The rooms are fine, nothing special, except that the noise from the corridor came through our door very easily. Being Brighton there were numerous Hen and stag nights going on (some people staying in the hotel) and so there were some noisy evenings to be had. The bar was either completely empty or packed to the rafters. German tour groups seem to congregate there around dinner time each ordering one drink and so the wait time was a bit slow. Other days was very quiet with no-one at the bar ready to serve. A but hit and miss really. Having said this all of the staff we encountered were professional and courteous throughout our stay. Would we stay here again? Possibly. September 17, 2014

Not keen on the use of wooden boards in restaurant for meal, When I went to breakfast the following morning the peas that had rolled off the board were still on the floor under the table. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Stained mouldy bathroom and noisy neighbours Last minute business travel, so I booked in a hurry - I'm a seasoned traveller and you know what you're getting with a Holiday Inn right? Wrong. The hotel is currently undergoing what would seem to be a long overdue refurbishment. Unhappily I got a shabby room that had yet to receive any attention. The bathroom was in a very poor state, the ceiling enjoyed patches of mould, as did areas of the bath. Which also had patches where the enamel had completely worn through and a delightful stained streak from the tiling. Frankly you'd have felt dirtier after attempting a shower (and a bath was a definite no). For the first time in my life, I found myself contacting reception to ask to change rooms. The staff were brilliant, but all they had was a twin, but single bed with decent bathroom was a definite improvement. The refurbished room was far better (though hilariously they've chosen to reinstate the rust stained tissue holder in the brand new bathroom suite. It's not really the hotel's fault that despite being a pretty deep sleeper, I was then woken repeatedly between 2am and 4am by noisy neighbours. No idea what on earth they were attempting to do, but it involved their plug socket and a lot of noise echoing through the wall. I'll be spending two or three nights in Brighton for the next six months. Despite being a regular Holiday Inn customer, I'm afraid I won't be using this hotel again in a hurry. The staff were great though, the room service was decent and they did knock a bit off the bill my company will pay, but all in all one of the more miserable hotel stays I've ever had - think that Gold membership status is likely to be lapsing ;-) September 14, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfortable bed. Great night's sleep The bed was very comfortable and BIG! The A/C worked so we had a lovely cold room to sleep in. We were high enough up so as not to be disturbed by any outside noise. The balcony was a bonus. The hotel is looking a bit dated but as I was aware there is a refurbishment programme under way that will hopefully bring it into the 21st century. All in all a nice break in a superb location. Booked a sea-view room but was put in a side view room, hotel is generally very run down. Room was clean but in major need of an update. Was kept up most of the night by noise in adjoining room as walls seem to be made of paper. Was far too tired and busy to complain after a late arrival. If this wasn't a business trip (i.e. my own money!) I would have complained straight away. I will be staying elsewhere in Brighton for the foreseeable future. September 8, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Trip to Brighton This is conveniently located hotel with a car park underneath which is most useful when you are with children despite having to pay extra. The lobby is nice and the staff friendly and welcoming. So for those reasons alone I would stay there again. However, it's tired and in real need of modernisation. The bedroom feels ancient with the bathroom in desperate need for a facelift. The shower didn't work very well either. The carpet is stained and dirty and unfortunately the A/C drips all night causing a nuisance as it makes a dripping noise which keeps you awake! Furthermore leaves a wet puddle for you to clean in the morning. The biggest advantage is it's location which you really can't beat so for that reason if no other choice I would stay again. Hotel offers a great dining experience for breakfast. Staff friendly , rooms clean and fair size, though new coat of paint would not go a miss. On arrival the reception staff were very efficient and welcoming. Our room was spacious and with a sea view and balcony, what more could you ask. The cleanliness of the Hotel was exceptional In fact no complaints we enjoyed it very much and would definitely use this hotel again Thank-you Holiday Inn... August 26, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Time for a refurb, better options available... I've stayed in a number of IHG brands, The Holiday Inn has always been good. This hotel is not a 4* Holiday Inn in any way except by name. While a woman was complaining in reception for the 2nd time in 2 days I felt reception were polite but robotic with my booking and didn't acknowledge my membership. The room had a broken window lock, cracked sink, broken toilet roll holder, broken wardrobe door and no minibar. Bu the bed was comfortable as always with Holiday Inn. Not the best start to my birthday weekend. Thank goodness I wasn't paying but I felt I wasted my points, i couldn't believe the rack rate a couple at the hotel told me they paid - they had their room changed. Invest in staff training and don't just improve the meeting rooms, refurb the bedrooms! There are better options to book in Brighton. August 23, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by lovely sea view,friendly helpful staff stayed at this hotel for one night for my daughters 16th birthday. upon arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful, hotel room was very clean and quite spacious with lovely sea view. there was lots of information in the room about where to visit and about brighton. bed and pillows were very comfy so had quite a good nights sleep with a lovely breakfast the following morning. the only problem we encountered was the bathroom which is in desperate need of some modernisation or total replacement of the bath,shower and shower curtain, there was worn out enamel on the floor of the bath, a horrible shower curtain which I wouldn't like to touch my skin. after a very hot day by the beach we were in desperate need of a shower, but had to go without. such a shame as this is a good hotel with excellent staff but we felt a little let down August 7, 2014
