The exterior appearance of the hotel is unfortunate as the interior and guest rooms are fine - although all the proper twin rooms are on the first floor and are smallish for a Holiday Inn. We had a room with a double bed with sofa bed which was larger with a side sea view and refurbished bathroom - walk in shower (no bath)

You would expect that such a national company that standards would be higher. There was no atmosphere in the hotel whatsoever. Check-in was fine no problems. The underground car park was a nightmare too small for long vehicles and people were allowed to park in the moist ridiculous way taking much of the rare space. If you have a valuable car or just worry about it not being scratched or dented - don't use this! The room was clean and tidy as was the bathroom. The tea and coffee facilities were poor and the pasteurised milk made the coffee undrinkable! The bar that evening was as dead as a dodo.
The mattress was not very good but, I save the worst until last. In that, there was some motor possibly air conditioning running all night which made sleep difficult to impossible. This was dismissed by the staff when it came to check out. NOT GOOD - better places to stay.

booked a standard room, which was perfectly adequate. but we decided to splash out and ask for an upgrade to a balcony room, this was sorted no problem. this wasn't a problem for the staff. we ended up with a executive room, with a beautiful sea front view and balcony. The only problem would say is about the underground parking, spaces were tight, and not as clearly marked as would have thought.
it didn't cost as much as we thought, especially with the upgrade.
the food was lovely as well.

Average stay, as pillows were extremely uncomfortable and damaged neck... Plus, the choice of snacks, were just a bag of crisps. Which is okay if you like crisps.
Although, I would say that after gentle persuasion, we managed to get a decent filter coffee, when we were told the coffee machine had broken. If we had not have pushed the matter, they would have offered instant coffee, which none of us drink.

We stayed here for one night over easter and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect welcome, the lady who greeted us on reception was so helpful, as there had been a confusion with our booking - she was so friendly and very welcoming. The hotel itself doesn't look that great from the outside, but the inside is lovely. As it's being refurbished there was a lot of noises during the day, but during the night it was extremely quiet, all you could hear was the seagulls. The location is ideal if you like to go for walks along the seafront, it's about a 25 minute walk to the pier and the sealife centre, and a perfect late night walk if you like peace and quiet. Breakfast was brilliant, we had a buffet breakfast and it was a great start to the day and the man who was seating everybody was also extremely friendly and helpful. We would defintely return. Great hotel, great location and great staff.

Although we had rooms on a side street and on the first floor, they were very quiet. The beds were very comfortable, though the furniture was not new. However, the bathroom was completely renovated and in extremely good condition and without any bad spots. The staff especially in the restaurant and the reception were very friendly and very helpful.
