We had a great stay the room was very spacious and clean, could do with a little make over.
The restaurant was excellent the service top class and the food was outstanding our compliments to the chef who actually came out to meet us to make sure we were satisfied, we would give this restaurant the highest marks ever !!!!
The only problem we had was the wi fi this did not work at all in our room we had to go into the corridor this was not satisfactory at all!!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Daboz Not 4* but good for location and budget
I read the reviews before booking this hotel and was quite concerned I was in for a rough experience, but I have to say the hotel isn't anywhere near as bad as the reviews make out. The architecture is hideous, as are many Brighton seafront hotels. Brighton isn't picturesque anyway. The decor is functional, clean but no doubt a little dated.
I upgraded to a side seaview room and got a good view of the beach and skeleton of West Pier from the 2nd floor. The room was very spacious, clean, neat and had all the usual bits. The TV was not flat screen and had only 9 working channels, which was pretty poor, but this was a beach holiday after all!
The air con was FANTASTIC! Which is why I went for to hotel rather than many of the others.
The service on arrival was frankly excellent. Staff couldn't have been more helpful, and moved a single bed into my upgraded room quickly, and provided extra towels for beach use when asked (unoffical but they had no problems with it).
I arrived with my son on motorbike and the staff were very chatty with my son and gave us half price parking. They also let us put all our bike gear in a back room after checkout for a few hours.
Breakfast was included and was a very good standard, and very complete. Wish I'd had a bigger appetite! Also had a meal on evening and this was good but too expensive. Staff again very polite and friendly, chatting with my son. Clearly they are good with kids.
The facilities are lacking in things for kids in the hotel. A pool table and table football would have helped a lot. But the best facility is the easy access to beach, kids outdoor paddling pool and play ground, crazy golf, restaurants, bars, cafe's and longer walk to cinema, main pier and sea life centre.
Despite bad weather, this was an excellent 3 day trip.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Oldboy Nice room, but was it value for money?
The room with a balcony and sea-front view (courtesy of an upgrade) was nice, and all the facilities were adequate. Much of the décor though looked 'tired' and in need of an update. The Dining Room had a relaxing atmosphere and the food, both at breakfast and on the one occasion we had dinner, was good without being outstanding. No problems at all with staff, from reception to bar and restaurant, and the cleaners. All were courteous, friendly and well trained.
Enjoyed the stay, the good weather helped, but even with the room upgrade, I am not sure that in terms of value for money the hotel rates better than average/good.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by VFRSIDI Disappointing service
Service at the HI Brighton was disappointing. There was little recognition of priority club / rewards platinum status. Reception staff were un-attentive and check in/out was slow with only one staff member managing guests.
The room was clean and tidy tho some aspects of decor and upkeep are dated and a little worn.
Beds and linen were comfortable and fresh.

Had an excellent stay at this holiday inn, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was perfect and comfy to stay in. Had no problems with anything.
Would recommend this to any friend of mine and family.
brilliant location not to far from pier and literally 5 minutes from town center very pleased will be returning in the future!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by alnade13 Perfect Seafront Location - Shame about the Hotel Rooms
Upon arrival, we thought the seafront location/locality of the hotel was fabulous and only a short walk to the Laines. The 'upgraded double room' we were given did not have the same wow factor. It was in serious need of an update to say the least with very dated/shabby décor which ran from the bedroom and continued into the bathroom. On a positive note, the bed was clean and very comfortable so a good nights sleep was had but we checked out early morning as we didn't feel relaxed enough to hang around. As it was a birthday celebration, it was disappointing, to say the least, that a well known and respected hotel chain, which was far from the cheaper end of the scale, was so disappointing.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bob1345 Great Location but looking tired.
The hotel is located in a tower block on Brighton's sea front. It is a great location with all the main tourist locations within easy walking distance. The staff and service was great, as was the breakfast. My only criticism is that the hotel is looking very tired and is in need of a re vamp. The external aspect needs refreshing. But more importantly the internal public spaces and bedrooms need a proper make over to bring the hotel up to the potential it deserves.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by CatherineAMNicol A seafront hotel but in poor condition
I was disappointed with the general condition of this hotel and didn't think it was worth the money or up to the standard of other hotels in this chain. The location was good on the seafront and near the town center. There was hotel parking but a little pricey, however, parking is a premium here.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by CCmember Great position for Brighton seafront
Great position, but sadly the hotel is in need of a referbishment. Breakfast was good value, but too few staff to serve. Room we very old looking and again needed updating. Even the staff uniforms looked old.
Staff were friendly and helpful, but felt like they we overworked

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Macj Executive price for just a standard room
Having paid the "extra" for an executive room, we were expecting far superior. Reasons are as follows:
- General grubby appearance of room, carpet and furniture in need of renovation. Broken chair, lamp not working, broken "safety" latch on window, broken tiles and shoddy workmanship in bathroom including a very grotty plughole in the bath.
- Old tv with very poor signal.
- There was only one gown/robe available in the wardrobe.
- No "general information booklet" in room - tv had a menu of services which were NOT for this hotel! i.e. restaurant details were of a very nice looking place called "Elysee".
- Had originally booked a "Sea View" room online but had trouble with my booking, so ended up booking with a Chat Room Operator who then carried out the booking - (to be fair I thought I had checked everything once she had booked it, but must have misread it and not noticed that a seaview room had not been booked).
- Upon departure, we had every intention of reporting our disappointment but were even more disappointed when we didn't even get asked if we had enjoyed our stay - which then prompted me to write this negative review!
On a positive, the bed was comfortable with nice clean bedding and the towels were of nice quality. We were going to have an evening meal but went elsewhere due to the lack of information about the hotel restaurant "The Garden Room", however, we did enjoy the buffet breakfast the following morning! Good selection.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Reward1 Reward Night - Wouldn't pay to stay (although staff were great)
Staff were very friendly at all hours and have no complaints at all about the service we recieved at check in and in the bar. There was an incident at breakfast - our table and chairs were cleared whilst we were in the queue for the hot buffet, but the incident was handle very quickly and did not have a negative impact.
Unfortunately the staff are let down by the actual accomodation. We were upgraded to the 4th floor - an Executive floor whuch quite frankly should not be allowed that title. Shabby doesn't quite cover it. if I would have paid (I stayed as a reward night) I would have bben incredibly disappointed. The landings are tired, the rooms clean but extremely run down. I have stayed in a number of holidays Inns, and this was the most tired of them all.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Jeannie276 Dated room.
Our room had a very dated look, no fridge and an old TV. The bathroom had cracked tiles and mouldy grout in some places. On arrival we were given a small bottle of water and a tiny stick of rock (between 2 people!). Not what I expect from being a platinum priority club member.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by MLLL Clean but weary
Clean hotel but certainly in need of a makeover. Décor is weary. The bed was small for a double.
Breakfast was ok but we had to pay an extra £19.00 when we were under the impression that this was included. We have stayed in two Holiday Inns recently where breakfast was included. Clearly there is no consistency and this is misleading. We also had to pay £18.00 to park the car so when the extras are taken into consideration we probably could have stayed in a more 'upmarket' hotel for a similar rate.
Staff were polite and helpful.

Right there on the spot. Brighton Beach seafront.
Could not have had a more delightful stay. Room was a bit dated but was at the rear of the building on the top floor. Very quiet, which is more than can be said for Brighton Beach.
The food in the evening was exceptional in the restaurant, and the breakfast was superb.
If we visited the Uk again it would be on our list.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Comfortable bed but slow room service, and bad wi-fi in the room
The hotel except for the foyer, gave an impression of looking tired and the colour scheme chosen for the corridors at least in the floor we stayed was very dark and gave a gloomy atmosphere.
The wi-fi in the room was bad, connection came and went when there was slow!!
The arrangement to enter the garage to park the car was antiquated and had to remember to collect a token every time I returned, usually one would use the room key to enter the garage.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by David123 Great location - Good service , nice room
Stayed for a night out as a Platinum Member on rewards, great welcome and room upgrade (not many HI's give this on rewards), safe secure parking at half price and far cheaper than on road or other car park. Great Wifi
Room was clan and large with a great view of the old Pier. On check out staff were really polite and friendly just as the check in staff were. Will be staying again soon in a couple of weeks for sure

Great location on seafront. Parking easy and with Platinum member discount. Excellent staff service. Very nice room with sea view. Yes the hotel is s little bit tired in places (hence the rating as "good"), but I would not hesitate to stay again if given the same room.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by DOUGRGI Not up to the usual Holiday Inn standard
There is a blue plaque on the wall stating that Charles Dickens regularly used the hotel when under another name in the 19th century. I think that if he returned today he would find lots of things haven't changed!!
The hotel, although enjoying a fantastic location on the sea front, needs a complete updating. The rooms, although clean, are very tired and need refurbishment. The television in my room was at least 15 years old and programme reception was poor. Corridors are dark and gloomy and public areas uninviting. I think that part of the problem may be that the hotel is managed by a subsidiary company. I had to request an upgrade to my room, despite being a Platinum member and check in was slow and understaffed. With the exception of Danny, who was on reception when I checked out and who could not have been more helpful and friendly, the staff looked gloomy and not very interested. However, underground parking for Platinum members is half price and wireless access is free so it's not all bad news!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by JoBr Reception poor
As a Gold priority club members we were not impressed by our reception at check-in. No welcome smile, no offer to book us in for dinner. We had requested extra pillows (medical) when booking but it took 7 hours and several requests for these to be supplied.
As regular users of Holiday Inn this was the worst experience we have had, and informed the duty manager that we were not impressed.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by EVI1133 Needs a refresh not typical Holiday Inn Standard
Bed really uncomfortable and small, pillows were like bits of ryvita. Rooms need complete refresh, quite old looking and not the usual holiday inn standards. Quality not the same, would not stay here again.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Arusha Too expensive
The room was a standard room with a good mattress and pillows, quiet and a good shower. Coffee and tea available. TV very old with very poor reception.
I was attending a seminar and the food provided for the seminar was very good.
I had dinner on Friday night at the restaurant and is was tasteless and very expensive.
I paid for 2 nights. Was there only for one night and had to pay for two. no breakfast included.
The staff not very friendly. On the defensive all the time.
The view of the burnt pier and some dreadful high crane not very relaxing.
I would not return.
