Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by very old hotel bad smell in the rooms. with poor service. had to change the room, but the problem was not over. Lousy service in the cafe on 10th floor, where you have to wait 25 min to get the menu card and 1 hour to get your drinks. May 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Central-Dar es Salaam From the moment I walked in, to the moment I left, the staff at this hotel were wonderful. They were extremely friendly, and very helpful. Everything i asked for was delivered promptly and with a smile. Good value, great room, and a good variety on the menu. The rooftop bar is especially good! The staff took great care of me and I am very happy to recommend this hotel to any other travelers. May 1, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Improved Service and Facilities I have been a regular guest at the Holiday Inn, Dar es Salaam and I have experienced improved service with each visit. April 25, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Largely disappointing experience The Holiday Inn Dar Es Salaam is well located in the middle of the city and within walking distance to the Zanzibar Ferry terminal. However, the service and amenities at the property fail to do justice to its location and brand identity. There were numerous issues with our stay, mostly minor but making up a larger problem when taken together. To begin with, despite having booked and re-confirmed an airport pickup, no car showed up at the airport. To add insult to injury, the hotel staff then insisted that we had failed to book the pickup, despite us having confirmation emails regarding the pickup from the hotel, which were even copied to the General Manager personally. On our first evening, the electricity in the building failed and we were left in darkness for almost 40 minutes. No apologies or explanations were provided. The breakfast quality was quite good, but the service there was also poor. First, no sugar was provided with the tea/coffee and it took having to ask multiple servers before it was finally delivered. When we asked for refills, we were constantly told that it was "coming soon" but after 15 minutes we could wait no longer and had to leave without any. The lobby staff were friendly and helpful, but largely inefficient as well. On multiple occasions, I had to stand waiting at the desk while staff completed some other paperwork or tapped away at a computer before serving me. Finding the bell captain or porter was also not easy as he was rarely at his desk but instead standing in some other corner. Even the security guard who was supposed to patrol the hotel driveway was more often found in the air-conditioned lobby than at his duty post outside. On our return trip, we were upgraded to an Executive Room due to my Priority Club status which was very comfortable and nicely appointed. However, the housekeeping standards here were also poor. There was only a quarter roll of toilet paper in the bathroom and no spare roll as is customary in international standard hotels. Also, while taking a shower before leaving, the plastic shower head snapped off and fell on the floor, presumably unable to handle the water pressure. I then had to finish my shower using what was essentially a hose pipe. That said, there were also positives about the property. The rooms were furnished comfortably with plenty of power points, large screen TVs with satellite channels and complimentary wifi internet throughout the building. The Executive Lounge was quite nice and had computers/printers available for use. Food in both the Gaucho restaurant downstairs and the Al Dar rooftop restaurant was of good quality. The staff were also very friendly, although not very efficient. Overall, the property and staff need a very serious shakeup in order to live up to the Holiday Inn brand standards. At this time, it is delivering well below the expected levels. March 9, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by baffling you would request a review this is one of the worst Holiday Inn hotels I have stayed in anywhere? filthy common areas and bathrooms February 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable stay in the city center At first there was no airport pick-up although I had a written confirmation. Second there was an unnecessary discussion how to pay even though I payed by credit card 3 weeks in advance. Third we found out that only the breakfast served in the executive lounge was included, not at the coffee shop. With the help of the manager(s) we clarified all items to our satisfaction. After three days we left with a very positive impression about the clean facilities the correctness and friendliness of the staff. Coming back one week later, our judgement was enforced again. Staying in many hotels of the group before, this stay was for sure a very positive example of service. Thank you! January 24, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very very poor This hotel is the worst value for money I've visited for a long time. The rooms are dirty, they are buggs in it. If you are not lucky like I was you can realize when you are getting out of the shower that there is no towels in the bathroom. The aircon doesn't work during the nite and you cannot open the windows. If you wish to print your boarding pass they charge you 1 box per page. The only good thing is the chicha bar on the roof, but you don't need to stay in the hotel to get access to it. Christian December 6, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bed very hard, likewise with pillows Quite a noisy location, and this Hotel could upgrade with 'double-glazing' to help reduce noise level, and to keep 'heat out' ! Staff all very courteous and polite, but seems many young staff in early stages of training and experience, etc. Executive rooms comfortable, EXCEPT for beds and pillows! Executive lounge comfortable, but 'gratis breakfast', not that inviting, and limited range. Excellent gym' facility, and roof-top bar/restaurant a star attraction. Food in main restaurant fairly good but nothing to write home about. November 29, 2012
