Our stay was marred by the things that didn't work in this hotel. The pool deck was flooded with water even though the pool was only the size of your bathtub. The driver didn't show up for the pickup even though it was booked a month ago. The wifi was incredibly slow if you managed to log on - the cable connection works fine if you brought your own router.
The staff on the other hand were amazing. Check in at the front desk was efficient and fast. The duty manager, Memory, was patient and kindly offered to pay for the hotel transfer. We were offered access to the lounge on the 10th floor which unfortunately did not have complimentary alcohol and even charged more for a beer than the rooftop bar.

Great location for for business travelers. Room service, food, bed, hotel staff all good. The only thing I can suggest is to improve the business / computer services and get new bath towels.
Overall good value for money and I will be staying again for business again..

During my visit in February 2014 I was not sure where to stay and decided on the Holiday Inn (normally good value). The prices in general are expensive and one can see the facility is in need of update and renovation.
The staff was very friendly. I was amazed at the high cost for the hotel shuttle service from the airport to the hotel.
I understand that tourism is the business, but they might be a little to expensive - that is for prices in general in Tanzania.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nasser WELL SITUATED HOTEL IN CITY OF DAR
This Holiday inn is well situated in the city of Dar es Salaam from where you have access to portside and other destinations. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Nice spacy rooms. Executive lounge on the 10th floor. This lounge however should offer more facilities like breakfast and snacks in the evening. Even with payment for the use of the lounge. Nice restaurants with great variaty of food. Nice bar/restaurant on roof where you can profit of cool evening.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mataragio Cold AC, nice considering Dar hot weather
Was my second stay in HI Dar es Salaam. Loved the customer service at the 10th floor lounge
The complimentary fruits provided instead of unhealthy snacks you find in most hotels I think is very creative. I been staying in Holiday Inn hotels worldwide for more than 10 yrs every year achieving platinum or gold status every year, I have never seen this. Well done and keep it up.
With all said, I noticed that you don't provide ironing facilities in the rooms. I was a bit shocked because that is a very essential and common especially for people like me always on the go. Formal meetings, dressing up is important a quick shirt or trouser ironing without waiting for the hotel to arrange makes a big difference.

When one stays at a Holiday Inn, one expects to experience what is an international standard in hotel accommodation. At the Hoilday Inn, Dar Es Salaam, one gets this to, in my most recent experience, to a 99% level.
The only negative that I experienced was the stand by light on the television in the room which is a particularly bright, almost flourescent, blue which makes sleeping a bit difficult if yoy are light sensitive when trying to sleep.
Depending on how this would affect one, there is NO other reason for not staying at this hotel.
It's proximity to the city centre the area in general make it ideal for business visits, in particular.
This was not my first visit to the Dar Es Salaam Holiday Inn and will not be my last.
