Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Consistently Excellent I am loyal to the Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza brands because I have found a consistently high standard wherever I have wandered in the world. Ethically, members of the IHG Hotels seem to treat their staff fairly and that is important to me. This hotel in Dijon, adjacent to the Toisson D'Or shopping complex, was simply perfect for our leisure-orientated needs. My wife and I stayed at this hotel twice as a stopping point between our home in the UK and St Tropez as we were driving with our dog. The hotel is about 10 minutes from the Autoroute, dog-friendly and there is a lower cost "Carrefour" petrol station nearby to prepare the car for its onward slog next day. The staff we encountered were friendly, approachable and appeared genuinely interested in providing hospitality. We dropped a point for "Room Comfort" owing to the lack of milk for coffee in the room. (That is a European thing - British and Americans like milk or creamer in coffee, Europeans take it black except at breakfast-time!) Dropped another point for Food and Beverage as the service was painfully slow on the first visit due to a lack of staff, however on the second occasion the service was spot-on and the food quality excellent! The only "down side" which the hotel management cannot help are the lifts (elevators/ascenseurs) which get very busy at times. Because of Dijon's location, the hotel does attract coach parties stopping en-route and if you happen to want to get to your room at a time they are checking in you may have a bit of a wait! Similarly, in the morning once the housekeeping staff start running up and down with their cages of laundry you may find a bit of a wait. There are only two lifts to serve the building and no service lift. Thank you very much, Holiday Inn Dijon, for getting our holiday off to a great start and finish! If the hotel management see this review, please would you pass our thanks to all the staff - let them know their efforts to please are being observed by their customers even when we don't always show it at the time! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great welcome & comfortable room We had a good overnight stay at Dijon and the room was very comfortable and the staff friendly. The dinner was expensive and rather a limited menu which was not to our taste. The main problem we have with the hotel in Dijon is that we sometimes are unable to book because the rooms are being held for a Chinese delegation. September 5, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, nice refurbished rooms, but shame about the food! We stayed on our way back to Calais from the South of France and this location is very convenient. The public areas and some of the rooms have been refurbished to a very good standard. However, our stay was spoilt by the very poor food served for dinner in the restaurant, for which premium prices were charged. The amuse-bouche was a disgusting slice of raw mackerel (skin included) and my Baramundi main dish wasn't properly cooked through. The other dishes were poorly presented and cooked, including a 26 euro fillet steak, presented on a plate in splendid isolation with an accompanying bowl of greasy potatoes. I can only conclude that it must have been the chef's night off! September 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient and recently renovated In our way from Spain to Luxembourg we needed to stop for some rest. Room was prebooked and allthough we arrived much later than expected, due to inmense traffic jams and even the hotel was almost fully occupied, we had available and convenient parking place. The reception was properly manned and in few minutes we managed to get our room access cards, vouchers for breakfast and internet connection details. Once in the room we got positevely surprised with the overall aspect, distribution, materials used and particulary the bathroom has been renovated with a very practical and modern concept. The bed and pillows were really adapted to our preferences so we could sleep well, specially due to the lack of disturbances coming from the exterior or other rooms. Noise Isolation is granted, Wifi connection was easy and every floor has independent access point so signal strength is really good and combined with a sufficient bandwidth we enjoyed our connection with different devices like smarphones, tablets and laptop. I forgot to mention that we travel with a small dog who was also very happy of being there in such a nice noise isolatied environment. She hates those hotels where you can listen every single slamming door and conversations in the corridor, Normally she would bark to complain and she didn;t, so good indicator. August 27, 2014
