Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel Downgrade Made reservations for this past weekend to visit my family in Birmingham. Looked for a suite. As a Spire member I figured Holiday Inn would be good. Got my reservation for a suite and the nightmare begins. Got to hotel and they had a room with 2 queen beds. No suites. They said I couldn't have made the reservation. (I made it on ihg.com.) I showed them the reservation. They did try to make it better, but the website won't let me state what they did (some policy). I figured we would find a place to sit with the family and it would be okay. (Lesson learned here.) When the family arrives I ask if they have a place we can sit down. I got a terse "no." In fact I would soon find out a economy place would be a better choice. They did have one couch in the lobby with a coffee table and two tables with no chairs. We moved a table to play a family game. "You really can't be doing that. If someone shows up you will have to move." Really? The room was a remodeled room. After I heard water hammer I opened the faucet to let the dirt and air out since I guess they had never run the water. So then I bled the air and dirt from the bathtub. In the remodel it looked like they didn't repaint or repair doors. If I was the hotel I would want my money back from the contractor. Honestly, I am considering canceling my IHG credit card and moving on. No, they didn't recognize me as a Spire member and it did me more good. My other membership gets me upgrades (I travel a LOT, which is why I needed a family getaway.) IF YOU DON"T WANT TO HAVE A RUINED WEEKEND STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY. February 8, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Facility - Amenities NonExistant The facility looked good and was under renovation. Renovation meant that standard facilities were not available. When complete I am sure the motel will be a good one and pleasing to the eye. At this point not so. Staff was friendly and helpful, but for the price I paid I expected the availability of dining area, fitness center, pool, etc. None of which were there. I would have thought that the motel would have offered a discounted price, but they refused to do so. Prior to returning to this site I will check to ensure renovation is complete and the facility is up to HI standards. January 18, 2016

The staff are friendly and efficient, the room was clean and comfortable. The location is away from the interstate enough that outside noise is non-existent but still easy to get to from the interstate. January 13, 2016

We had no water pressure in the bathroom, a room full of lady bugs, horrible experience with the manager once another couple called due to no hot water.... they gave them another room key and told them they could shower on a floor below but did not offer to relocate them. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No pool or restaurant available, under construction I stayed here one night. I chose this hotel because I wanted to relax with breakfast and coffee the next morning. I was surprised when I arrived that there were plastic sheets hanging in hotel lobby, and I was informed that the restaurant and pool closed. It was after 6pm, so I couldn't cancel. They offered me 1000 points, which have never posted to my rewards account. I stayed on 2nd floor, which sported outdated faded carpet in the common areas. When I opened the door to my room, the bed was unmade and there were items in the room. I immediately went back to front desk and was given another room without drama. The room was a king, but had no chair, just an empty corner. There was some white substance on the bathroom faucet. The window had children's hand prints all over, and chocolate stains on curtains and walls. Towel hook was missing, and paint was peeling in bathroom corner. Overall I was disappointed with this hotel, and would not recommend it. November 30, 2015
