There was a group of 4 of us who checked in. 3 of us had to get different rooms because they were not clean. Beds were not made and trash everywhere. The other 2 got clean rooms on the 2nd try. My 2nd room was dirty as well, so I came down for a 3rd try. The lady at the desk took the 3rd attempt at a room up to check on it 1st...this was dirty as well. Finally, on the 4th try, I got a room that was clean. Also, we saw a cockroach run across the floor at breakfast. Nasty hotel. Will never stay here again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bankchick Nice dark room and comfortable bed
This was our first stay at this Holiday Inn, we have traveled to the Birmingham area at least one to two times a year on business. This hotel was close to the office we were visiting and had several restaurants to choose from nearby. Staff was friendly and always greeted us with a smile hello and asked if everything was going okay or if we needed anything. The cookies waiting for us when we got back at night was a pleasure and very good.

I have never written about a negative hotel experience until now. Was in Alabama for one week to play the Robert Trent Jones Trail. Made reservation for this site on Dec. 3, 2014- nine weeks in advance. Checked in Saturday afternoon and was told by a rude desk clerk that our room for two adults and two queen sized beds was not available. We would have to stay in a relatively small room with just one bed. No explanation, just "take it or leave it" rudeness. Was also told by her that I wouldn't find another hotel in the area-all were booked (she was right- we tried). Slept in a chair all night. Back is still killing me. Next morning we checked out one day early because of the one bed situation. Lady at the desk was very nice, apologized profusely, and told us that we wouldn't be charged for the room. She said she would make sure we were comped. I had no intention of taking this any further until today when my credit card bill came through with a bill of $87.75 from Holiday Inn Homewood AL. Until the day I die, I will tell every golfing friend I know traveling to play the RTJones Trail that they need to avoid the Holiday Inn in Homewood, regardless of its proximity to Ross Bridge and Oxmoor Valley. It is a haven of incompetence, rudeness, and lies. Very disappointing that my reservation was worthless.
