Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Just passing through. My wife & I were traveling through Birmingham and stopped here for the night. The location was convenient with restaurants a short drive away. The hotel restaurant and lounge were not open, however they offered a free breakfast in the morning. November 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Stay Was in Birmingham for a two weeks of work. greeted properly when i first arrived everything was in order. wireless worked great. Had only one problem. I had no HBO on my tv and i missed the season finale of Boardwalk Empire. I was informed that their system is being upgraded in the future and that they offered to change my room. That is the only problem I had the two weeks at the holiday inn homewood. November 11, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not a good stay Had to change rooms after first night because bathroom had a terrible mildew smell. They moved me across the hall. The new room was a great improvement, but after the 4th night no hot water in the morning. I needed to be at a meeting with my customer which meant cold shower. Reported it and the front desk that afternoon and the clerk basically shrugged it off. Housekeeping stopped by to make sure my room was clean and I also mentioned it to them. Housekeeping promised to report to maintenance but nobody stopped by. Next morning, no hot water again! Reported it when checking out. All they offered was a bottle of water. Are you kidding me?! At the very least they should have comped my room for one night. November 9, 2014

The carpets in the hall are stained and the wall coverings are scraped and gouged from luggage carts. The bed was old and need of replacement. My room had empty bottles on desk and trash can from previous occupant. When I checked in on Sunday night, the restaurant and bar was closed and no staff manned the front desk when I arrived (I had to search someone out to check in). No mention by staff member, Warren, of my Platinum status, welcome gift or upgrades. I will make other arrangements when I am in the area next. October 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location, near interstate and shopping areas. close to downtown Birmingham and metro area. Below average breakfast - lounge bar? Need different type of furniture(chair) in room. No high speed connection in my room to use my laptop. Inside the refrigerator needed cleaning and maintenance. NOTE: I visit the area at least three or four times a year - in 2014 I have made three visits since april of which two were spend at this hotel. October 30, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor housekeeping I travel frequently and am an IHG Rewards Gold Elite member. I like staying at Holiday Inn properties and usually have no issues like I had during this most recent stay. I checked into the room and the bed just didn't look right. It was made up, but just didn't look as "crisp" as normal. I pulled back the covers and found numerous hairs of all kinds and crumbs from what looked to be crackers or cookies all on the sheets. The front two pillows were clean and crisp but one of the back pillows had "creases" in it just like it would if you balled it up behind you to prop yourself up. It looks to me as if the housekeeping staff took shortcuts regarding the cleanliness of this room. The sheets and pillowcase of at least one of the pillows were not changed as they should have been. The absolute most important thing to me as a traveler is to have a nice clean place to sleep. no one wants to lay down on sheets that someone else has slept on and there is no way that the sheets on that bed were changed! When I went downstairs and told the guy at the front desk, he acted like this was a normal occurrence and gave me another room on another floor without so much as an, "I'm sorry, or I'll check into this for you". I'm staying in the area again this week and have chosen not to stay at this hotel again. October 27, 2014
