Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wismergirl Quite a good choice in Kingston with superb location
My family stayed there for one night for our daughter's convocation. We used points and got a King executive room. Being a Platinum IHG member, I was offered complimentary breakfast buffet at the restaurant since there is no room upgrade available. It's very convenient to drive to Queen's University and there are lots of restaurants nearby. The very bad things (as always in May

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Kingston while attending the Queen's University Convocation. The hotel location is great, within walking distance of restaurants and downtown. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Run down. Very much showing its age. Terrible service in the restaurant at breakfast. I had ongoing problems with not having enough hot water. No in-room movies. All in all, I would go somewhere else next time. Poor value for the money.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by W.C. Great room, great view, with moth ball smell
The stay at this hotel was good and would recommend it. The staff was excellent to deal with. Good view of the harbour and lake. The down sides, the room smelt like moth balls so we slept with the garden doors open at night and left hem open throughout the day to get in some fresh air. The hotel has only one computer available for public use and it seems to be an after thought as it is located in a public area in a back hallway.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by allie2 Rooms are meh, view is lovely, staff was excellent
The hotel interior could use some refreshing - the decor is a bit bland and tired and the bathroom lighting isn't great. The waterfront view was terrific and the staff was excellent at every level.

more attention should be paid to the balcony area, it had bird droppings on it and far to many flying insects. I believe it needs pest control.

The Waterfront Holiday Inn is ideal for our purposes. Close to the theatre, the Farmers Market, the Ferry to Wolfe Island and the shops makes for an easy walk everywhere we go!
We come to Kingston by Train each time and take the Public Transit from the station to near the hotel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Reallytired#13 Room beside service elevator shaft #522 on June 4 2014
This room was booked this past November (2013)
-this room is directly beside an elevator shaft
-this room was booked 6 months in advance.......why would I have a room by an elevator shaft
-this was extremely disruptive to me and my families night sleep
-the hotel staff were excellent
-the buffet breakfast was less than exciting and fulfilling ....since I did not finish my breakfast....sausages were under cooked and pancakes were doughy and dry.
-I would not normally express a concern when travelling but when I book with the Holiday Inn I have very high expectations and these expectations have always been met in the past.....this particular experience may be my last at a Holiday inn......unless you can convince me other wise.

Disappointed that the top floor resturant was closed for a smaller resturant on the main floor off the lobby. Even though the location is more convenient.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tammy1228 Room Accommodation
i booked our 4 night stay at this Holiday Inn 5 months in advance as i wanted to ensure i had a large room to accommodate myself, spouse, daughter and mother inlaw. I was under the assumption that i had booked a suite with 2 King size beds.
When we arrived and checked in we were provided a room with a King size bed and a pullout couch, As we were staying 4 nights this did not meet our needs. Once i explained this was not my expectation when booking and that we would have to find accommodation elsewhere. The staff took my concerns seriously and were able to place us in a suite that met our needs. The staff were all professional and Holiday Inn is striving to meet and exceed their customers needs. The Wednesday customer appreciation night was also very nice providing guests with a complimentary beverage and appys.

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay. Special thanks to the Desk Clerk who loaned us the umbrella!
Only thing I could suggest is that there be two smaller pillows along with the large ones.

Great location. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Great pool and sauna.
Difficult to get warm/hot water from taps. Mattresses had no support for back/neck. Very slow service and expensive breakfast at hotel restaurant. Overall, would consider this hotel and it's price for breakfast and parking to be over priced. If you don't need this specific location, then i would stay somewhere else.

Great location in downtown Kingston. Staff were professional, helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable, but the screen door had a broken handle and the tub faucet handle and sink faucet handle were falling off. Hot water was hard to come by at the sink for some reason but was plenty hot at the shower. As for the restaurant, the $14 buffet breakfast was dreadful, and the $8 2-egg special was delicious. The building is showing its age, and lots of stuff is starting to wear out -the elevator has an ominous creak, for example. But the room was still quite nice and the location was ideal. I had 2 well rested nights there, and would certainly consider going back.

The first room we booked into had a showerhead that was broken and sprayed everywhere so we changed rooms. The second room had no hot water only lukewarm at best. My wife could not take a bath because the drain plug was broken. As a result the concierge gave us free parking $14, and a $25 discount on our room. Great location but Holiday Inn is showing its age.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RM1818 A good choice in Kingston
I have stayed at a number of hotels in Kingston, but this was my first time at the Holiday Inn. I was pleasantly surprised. The location is idea - central, and right on the lake. The staff were professional, courteous, and helpful.
The room decor is tired (the carpet needs replacing), but the rooms are generous in size and my view was wonderful. I appreciated the lighted mirror.
The fitness facility is great - and no TV required. The view over the lake was better than any electronic device.
I will definitely return.

Stayed for 3 nights at this hotel and had a marvelous stay.
Beautiful hotel right in the thick of things. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, we ate at the restaurant and the food was delicious.
If you are looking for a friendly, comfortable, welcoming and reasonably priced hotel then the Holiday Inn waterfront is great for you!

I really enjoyed the conversation with the reception staff on check-out. While being efficient and processing our bill and booking us for this weekend (when we move our son) she was very personable and engaging. I really apppreciated the personal touch and felt like a 'somebody'.

Totally unplanned delay to get some last minute work done in Kingston, On before home to US before Good Friday!
Internet service was great, Staff was very helpful and cooperative.
Excellant harbor view and very relaxing room. Dox for drinks and snacks did an excellent job. Bartender/local guide narrowed down many highlights before departure and save me a ton of searching and surfing. I will use this hotel in the future as a area work hub because of the location and activities downtown Kingston.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jewel313 Noisy & Overpriced
Paid lots to get what I believed to be a premier room for our 30th anniversary. The only thing premier about the room was the view of the water. Figured our we paid an big money because the hotel was full of 8 year old hockey players and their families. There was constant yelling, running and hockey games being played outside our room. The sink and bathtub drains were broken and it took almost 5 minutes to get hot water for a shower. Not a real great experience for the cost.
On the plus side, the hotel does have a great location right downtown and our room did have a wonderful view of the water.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by George1529 Regular guest - won't be back.
Has been our regular place to stay when visiting family in Kingston. After several problems and errors with reservations, with no help or sympathy from staff, we will find a Kingston hotel that is less "tired", has less noise and is more responsive to guests.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A_G_6264 Disappointed with the two rooms.
Stayed at the Waterfront Holiday Inn in Kingston last weekend, like we do several times a year. Always has a great experience, except for this time. The first room we were given had been smoked in, and we are both non-smokers, and we had our 3 year old grand-daughter with us. We asked one of the maids to come and confirm what we were smelling but unfortunately she was also a smoker and could not tell. Another maid came and confirmed that the room had been smoked in. After talking to the front desk we were given another room and explained that they have a strict non-smoking policy. Our second room was extremely filthy, had not been dusted, and the bath and toilet were dirty. I am disappointed as we always had a great experience at this Holiday Inn. Now we may look into other hotels on the water front. Hopefully someone pays attention to this email.
