Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Building work, breakfast and plat elite status. poor stay for the money Stayed here a few times and this stay had a few gripes. 1. Hotel rooms are being refurbished. Was put right next to rooms having noisy building work done. Carried on till past 6pm. Had work to do and in the end was easier to do this in the bar due to the drilling and banging. Why not just close each section off as needed to minimize guest disruption (appreciate you still need to make money with guest rooms but there has to be a compromise) ? 2. Breakfast. Came down about 8:50 for breakfast. Noticed that the hot cooked stuff was either empty or nearly gone (I took pictures to show my point), it remained like this with staff wondering around till about 9:15. I did ask for poached a egg which came and to be fair was good. I wanted to add bacon and mushrooms to this, but the small amount on offer was poor or empty so I just didn't bother. Question ... who is responsible for topping up the breakfast hot food regularly before it gets to this state ? 3. Stay away in hol inns most weeks and have plat elite status. Apart from being offered obligatory points for this on arrival felt no other merit in having this status. In other hol inns I get offer of free upgrade and bottle of water/choc biscuit in the room. Understand if upgraded rooms were full, but conversation on this never even took place, and I didn't feel it was considered (I sometimes get told no upgrades are possible which is ok, but nothing here). At checkout I fed back on the breakfast and building work. I was given a small amount of IHG points and an apology. Still think this wasn't really acceptable Overall feedback would be 'could do better for the money' I stay at hol inns most weeks. I'm not a serial complainer, but some I do see differences between certain hotels so think I need to make you aware to improve experience for everybody November 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good weekend break As a retired couple, we found the hotel just right for a two night stay.The staff were friendly, and fhe reception staff in particular were efficient and extremely well informed and helpful. The breakfasts were very good, ( apart from the rather tasteless scrambled egg ). But the staff made up for the egg! November 21, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Smoking Bedroom? I'm surprised that any hotels still provide smokers rooms. I was booked in to one in error, and you could tell it was used by smokers. I should have requested a swap but as I was only there for one night I didn't bother. November 16, 2014
