Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overall reasonably good We stay at this Holiday Inn mostly due to its central location and for the swimming pool. Most of the staff are generally good with one or two being quite friendly and helpful with another few being not helpful! The breakfast is generally good but nothing spectacular. The bacon on our first day was rubbery but had imporved by the second day. I think the breakfast should be healthier and better value for money; too many refined carbohydrates. The beds are very comfortable and there is a heating/air conditioning unit which works well except for the level of noise. There are some soundproof issues with adjoining rooms. The swimming pool is a bit too cold for a leisure pool and the attendant wasn't too friendly. The changing rooms need updating and it was freezing! However, the pool seemed to be reasonably clean. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by hotel to town good hotel convenient for city, shopping etc. but road noise could be a problem if you want fresh air. the parking arrangements were unsatisfactory in so much that it was in the local NCP parking opposite the hotel and funding space could be a problem - it also meant climbing up and down garage stairways ( this is not indicated in the description. the staff were friendly and the facilities inside were up to standard July 15, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by hotel nice - food not so nice the hotel itself is easy to find and in a good, central location to city centre. has large NCP car park next to hotel with walk-through to access reception. Lobby area clean and bright. Reception staff friendly and efficient and asked if I was an IHG member. Room usual hotel standard, although as usual with hotels, the hairdryer was not well positioned and I had to do some body contortions to see what I was doing when I dried my hair! Also, no mirror to do make-up in natural light - had to use bathroom mirror, under artificial lights. Bed was comfortable although the pillows were foam filled and not particularly conducive to a good sleep. Dinner menu was not overly extensive and food was below par. This was made worse by the waitress not offering coffee - I had to ask and then I had to wait over 20minutes for a "Starbucks" coffee. Breakfast not anything to write home about either. July 11, 2014

On arrival we were met with very cheerful and helpful staff, as a loyalty member they arranged an upgrade. The bar staff for again friendly and attentive. The room was immaculate,. The whole atmosphere at the hotel was friendly would not hesitate to stay here again July 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A weekend at the Holiday Inn, Leicester The estimated travel time from our home in Cornwall to Leicester was 4 hrs 20 minutes. The actual journey took 10 hours! Traffic, accidents and roadworks so it was a great relief to arrive at the hotel. The only parking available was in the NCP car park attached, (this was not made clear when we booked so parking cost £10/day, subsidised by the hotel). Purpose of the trip was to attend a friend's wedding. Check in was very busy with just 2 on reception and a queue, (there was no Priority check-in desk.) I needed to get some things from the car so just handed over my Rewards Platinum card and was immediately greeted by my name and informed my room was ready, (all this before checking in). A trainee checked me in watched by a receptionist and she did an excellent job. Following check in I was thanked for my loyalty, (never happened before and we have stayed in so many Holiday Inns). Also informed straight away that we had been upgraded. Room, as usual, was excellent. Tired and hungry we went to the bar and ordered a bar snack and a drink. We were served by Mikayla who looked after us superbly. What a lovely person. The following morning the newspaper we ordered failed to arrive, Reception apologised but said they could not send out for one. They asked if we wanted to order a newspaper for Sunday but we declined. Saturday evening the restaurant was closed probably due to a World Cup game showing live in the bar and a large contingent of Dutch supporters. With so much going on Mikayla continued to look after us along with all the other people in the bar. She was superb. Thanks Mikayla, (hope I spelt your name right!). The following morning the newspaper we DIDN'T order arrived! Overall, a good stay; clean, comfortable room, good bar snacks too, especially the chicken curry. Having left tips we then noticed in the small print there was a 10% discretionary service charge. Didn't complain as we liked Mikayla however we haven't noticed this before at Holiday Inns. PS Mrs TC has just pointed out that on Saturday the bed was just "pulled up" rather than remade. Thanks again for great stay. Mr & Mrs TC July 6, 2014

All the staff were courteous, polite, attentive and always helpful. A good selection of food at the breakfast buffet, provided a good start to the day. July 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A surprise of a sleep Stopped at Leicester Holiday Inn for Kasabian gig. Didn't expect much, thought they were all pretty much of a much-ness the Travelodge/Premier etc brigade, but I have to say I had the best 2 nights sleep in a long time. Even though we were by some vents (that didn't go on all the time). I liked the free use of the pool/sauna/ Jacuzzi, but they need to put a note up to remind you to take a pound coin for the lockers. (having some to give those who didn't realise would be better so you don't have to go back up to your room). We didn't eat or use the bar, but everything looked good and the TV and film selection were great and would have watched, if I hadn't fallen asleep. Location great next to car park where you get a discounted rate and only a few minutes walk to the Lanes and town. Would now always look out for a Holiday Inn instead of a Travelodge, any day of the week. July 3, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Recent over night stay We have stayed at the hotel in the past Things seem to have changed a bit - it seems the coat of parking had increased - we were charged £10 to park in the ncp next to the hotel and I am sure that we have paid a lot less than this The receptionists asked if we had stayed before so we said yes abd that was the welcome done - There was not a safe in the room and people were smoking right outside the revolving doors which dragged the disgusting smell into the hotel The facilities need some attention - no place to spun your wet swim wear and no bags to put your wet gear in - lockers need £1 Brown stained roof tiles - looks tired The beds were comfortable The breakfast was really good July 2, 2014

I can't really fault the room too much other than the bathroom was looking tired and must have been difficult to keep clean. I was disappointed with the pool area. It is clearly used a lot. I felt the whole area could have done with a deep clean. Not impressed that car parking was an additional charge. July 1, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Hotel, Good Location Stayed one night for a concert in Leicester, was our first time visiting the City and it proved to be an ideal venue. Great location, car park ran by NCP (£10 per 24 hours) on te same site so parking not an issue. We stayed in an executive room which was spacious and very clean, good night sleep. Breakfast was the normall standard for Holiday Inn, excellent! Areas to Improve - normally as a loyalty member we are greeted as such and have water in the room, both never happened. June 27, 2014

Great to have use of pool and jacuzzi. Only problem with the fitness suite is the changing rooms. Upgraded but very very cold. Rooms a bit stuffy. June 26, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Recent Stay 21st June 2014 -mmm good have been better We have stayed at many hotels including Holiday Inn. But we were disappointed with our stay. Hotel to get to on foot is a nightmare, and only decent access is through a car park. So in the end ended up running across the various lanes of the roundabout to get out and about into Leicester Room was not ready for us to check in and we were there after check in time! 2.15pm We waited in lobby for 30 mins and no-one came up to us in that time, so we queued again to another person at which the original gentleman turned up saying our room not ready, and he phoned there and then, so in the 30 mins wating time nothing had been done?? The aircon unit in the room was unbelievably noisey and loud, it was a very hot day and night and there was no way we could have had it on for longer than an hour! and the room did not have a fridge in it? which is weird as other guests we spoke to in the lift had fridges? Only good thing was the breakfast. None of the hotel amenities were pointed out to us, and nor were we told of the breakfast times either, I realise they were busy but they must have various busy times throughout the year? We like Leicester and would love to go back in July to see more but I think I will seek out another hotel. June 26, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value Stayed here a few times but not for 6 months or so, the hotel maintains its great value and quality of room, even tho I didn't get an upgrade to exec room as a platinum member the standard room was still very good, looked as if the bathroom had been refitted, bed very comfortable and quiet , room 501 Ill certainly continue to use this as my number 1 choice when in Leicester with its great location to the shops / bars etc and only 10 min walk through the shops to the railway or bus stations The only drawback is the cost of the parking at the NCP 10 steps from the hotel - it can be cheaper to pay NCP for it rather than allow the hotel to bill you, but hotel guests should get it cheaper in my view June 22, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Shame about the building works My only complaints would be that the room was very hot and the air-conditioning wasn't working, and that the hotel was surrounded by building works making it very difficult to leave on foot. Obviously, the building work was not a fault of the hotel and was just unfortunate. I save my best praise for the staff. They were friendly, professional and helpful. I would stay at this hotel again and hope that Richard III's bones had been well and truly buried and the extensive road works finished. June 16, 2014

The staff are very friendly and helpful Only Criticism is that as a platinum member I very rarely get an upgrade.
