The Holiday Inn in Lloydminster serves up no surprises - which I guess is the point. When you expect to find a standard hotel with all the standard services, this one does not disappoint. The rooms are scrupulously clean, as are the bathrooms, the beds with labelled choice of firmnesses for the pillows are a nice touch, and the restaurant serves essentially the kind of food you would prepare for yourself at home. A nice touch - signing up Bath and Body Works as the supplier of the toiletries - again, something you would expect to do for yourself at home. Staff is courteous and client-oriented, except for the curiously short-tempered server at breakfast who did not seem to understand that Chinese guests who can speak no English at all cannot understand when she says "you will have to give me a few minutes". Perhaps as Lloyd continues to grow as an international centre for heavy oil development, wait staff will become more attuned to cross-cultural communications issues. The only quibble is that the room rates are high compared to similar properties in this chain in other locations - another function of the red-hot industry in the area, I suppose. That said, we were pleasantly surprised to be offered a room discount without asking, as we had block-booked 10 rooms on short notice. Will I return to this property when next in Lloydminster? Yes - in fact my next booking is already in place. Why? Because I know what to expect, and it will be well within my comfort zone.

I came back to the hotel after work one day during my trip to find my room had not been cleaned that day. It was about 8pm so they had had plenty of time to clean the room. I brought it up to the front desk and was surprised to find out that not only my room hadn't been cleaned, but five(FIVE!) other rooms had not been cleaned that day. The girl at the front desk was very polite and said it may have been due to the staff meeting that housekeeping at 4:30 they may have not been able to get to it.
I do not see how it could ever be considered acceptable to simply skip cleaning somebody's room, staff meeting or not. I do not intend on staying there again.

The location of hotel in Lloydminster is central to everything and its staff makes it an obvious location to return to. The staff are always curious and very helpful.

On Feb 24 I stayed at the Holiday Inn Lloydminster.
As a priority Platinum member I was very disappointed with this hotel. I booked the my stay early in the morning around 8:30am. When I arrived at the hotel around 8 pm my check in was not ready. I noticed the hotel was not very busy and said that to the front desk clerk. I requested an upgrade and was told there none available. As I stated I noticed the hotel was not very busy so when I went to my room I decided to check on line to see if they had any upgrade available. I noticed there were lots of room available for both the night I was staying and the following night. I went back to the front desk and asked the front counter person why I could not have had an upgrade when there were rooms available she hesitated and said she made a mistake and looked at tomorrow night room availability. I told her that was not true also and went back to my room. The reason I wanted an upgrade was to get off the first floor where the people who work on the oil rigs get up any out between 4 am and 5 am. Sure enough around 4am the doors started banging and I was not able to get a good night’s sleep.
As a platinum member I expected better service than I received. I do not especially like being lied to. If they are not going to honour the Holiday Inn program, they should say so. I filled out the comment card but as suspected no one called me to explain or say they were sorry for the way I was treated.
On my next visit to Lloydminster I will likely stay and another hotel where they do honour their loyalty programs.
Disappointed

I visited this Holiday Inn last week. Overall the rooms are clean but basic, it met all my needs and I would stay there again. It has a Smitty's restaurant in the hotel which was nice when it was -42C and you don't want to go out.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Very clean room
Check in and out was very good.
All the staff we encountered were extremely pleasant, and courteous.
The bed had a couple squeaks or creeks, but was most comfortable.
The coffee inmaker worked, but the coffee creamer was not so good, We got some from the restaurant in the lobby, but was powdered? cream there as well, and the coffee was stale.
There was food in the fridge from previous occupant.
i took it out to the housekeeper who was in the hall.
(the fridge was nice and cold, we had some items of our own to put in there.)
The TV remote didn't work well, we thought we were doing something wrong, and asked the housekeeper - still in the hall to help. She did, and replaced the remote which was low on battery!
Had a little trouble adjusting the thermostat, but it turned out fine. The room was very clean, and we enjoyed out stay.
They gave us a slip of paper to get 1000 points by watching a video, but my login number and pin number do not work.
I have written several letters about that. Still does not work.
The hotel was very nice, a little pricy, and though we liked it, we could probably not afford to stay there again.
