Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by family short winter break Rooms were welcoming, beds very comfortable, this was our short family winter break. We came for the Shetland Pony Driving Presentation of awards. This was a really nice get together of friends, with people coming from as far as The Shetland Isle, and The Isle of Wight. You must be the Half Way House, and we intend to use this wonderful venue again and again! It was especially nice for all ages to get together in the swimming pool. January 20, 2015

Yet again I find myself very disappointed with both the speed of service and the quality of the food, this is becoming the normal situation with Holiday Inn hotels, but then to top the poor food the temperature of the restaurant was so low I had to eat with my overcoat on! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location I stay here because it is very close to my friends/family who I visit in the area (probably once a year on average). I would not stay here if my friends/family lived elsewhere. Hotel is getting very old now and has been on the decline, despite efforts to upgrade (I think the time has come to rebuild the whole hotel).. Rooms are small and outdated. The corridors, carpets etc. look very worn. I can't believe that you have to pay an extortionate additional amount to use Wi-Fi. most hotels around the world now offer free Wi-Fi. That said, the bar/lounge area is very welcoming and I often invite my friends/family to that area to meet and have drinks (I don't take them back to the rooms because they wouldn't fit in). Drink/snacks variety is very good. Staff are and always have been excellent as is the breakfast buffet. It is just the outdated appearance both inside and outside that needs to be improved (preferably flatten the place and rebuild!). If any of these negatives do not bother you, and all you need is a place to rest your head then it is good value for money. Personally, I think it is time for a BIG change. January 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by no food after questioning if food would be available 2 months prior to my planned stay on Boxing day I was told the restaurant would be operating as normal, however, a week before Christmas I was told it would be the bar menu only, so I thought that this would be acceptable, after travelling from home and working some 12hrs I travelled back to the hotel in very harsh conditions I was told after I had checked in around 20.40hrs that there was no food available not even a sandwich could be ordered, after questioning this frequently on the lead up to Christmas and assured food would be available this was not the case. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by poor attitude by a reception staff member although I have rarely encountered a problem in the previous weekly stops over the last twelve months, I found it very degrading to be standing in the reception lobby in front of other more experienced members of staff who were agreeing to my requests for a bottle of water as a platinum member to be rudely refused, although it has never been an issue previously, maybe a more courteous approach from Megan towards guests would help secure a more pleasant stay for your guests.
