Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Starting to get where it needs to be Stayed a few years ago and it was on the ruff side. The remodel job is starting to come along. March 13, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Locked Doors and No Breakfast While the room itself and the staff as well as the recognition of Priority Club status was up to expectations, the lack of access to the main floor congregating room, which is perhaps where the evening manager's receptions are held during the week, was disappointing. It made the hotel seem shuttered, which is a bit depressing, especially in the cold of the winter. I realize that having a restaraunt in the same building is a great convenience. However, Bennigan's is a chain, and in the case of the Rock Island HIE, it is only there by coincidence. This should not preclude the usual HIE breakfast provided. I also understand that there is a discount agreement between the Rock Island HIE and the adjacent Bennigan's. However, I personally would far rather pay full price for an afternoon or evening meal and get the typical HIE breakfast service. I feel it is part of the brand and that it should be a constant. The hotel was supposedly undergoing some renovations, but quite a bit of the hotel seemed rundown/outdated. There was an odor of old smoke on the floor I stayed on. The faucet in the bathtub leaked cold water constantly after it had been run and for the duration of my bath. The tub itself felt etched, as if it had been cleanded with abrassives far too often, and was extremely uncomfortable. As I mentioned, the staff was as friendly as ever, and the room was comfortable and clean. Had these things been absent, it would have moved the stay from "ok" to "bad". March 12, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Smokers and filthy butts in stairwells Ok I am on a non smoking floor. Using the stairs for fitness I see piles of cigarette butts at each floor landings, that explained all the slamming of doors: people out for an illegal smoke. Filthy, stinky, smokey in a no smoking facility, not an exaggeration, looks like a dumpoed ashtray. Looks like the hallway carpet hadn't been vaccummed in weeks. Make you wonder where else sanitationis neglected? Yeck let me out of this dump. March 11, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Worst shower ever!! Benigans service was horrid. At 4:00pm restaurant is empty and staff was non-extistent. Slow ...wrong food... no return water or drinks. Fortunately we were in no hurry but HUNGRY. February 28, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Old and worn This hotel has seen better days. Despite a renovation attempt, the overall impression is one of a building that has seen better days. The elevator groans loudly, the windows whistle so loudly that sleep is impossible on a windy night, the room temp is uncontrollable ( I turned off the heat and still had to open the window on a 10 degree night and then froze 20 minutes later), the shower plumbing fixtures need to be replaced, a ceiling patch on the bathroom ceiling was drywall tape covered with paint and to top it off one of the towels had a silver dollar size hole in it. The reception staff was the only high point of the visit. February 25, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Improving Greeted very warmly and I was asignned a remodaled room, much improved. Parking still limited from the construction crew's equipment but was given options across the street. February 20, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed, friendly staff, terrible heating unit My family I stayed here just before Christmas 2012. This is a very old hotel that used to be under a different chain but is now a Holiday Inn. The parking lot is very small and I felt lucky each time we were able to get a parking spot. The hotel is in the downtown area so there were some suspicious characters walking through the parking lot which made me double-sure to lock the car and not leave valuables in them. The staff was very friendly and the food when we ordered room service for breakfast was delicious. Really my only complaint was with the heater in our room, which appeared to have been there since the 1970s. It had only three working temperatures: warm, warm and warm. The hotel definitely needs to upgrade their heating and cooling systems. Overall, it was a good stay. February 1, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worse stay ever at a Holiday Inn This is absolutely the worse Holiday Inn I have ever stayed at. The beds were like sleeping on the ground, the whole place had an odor and I don't believe they even touched anything except to make the bed when the room was supposedly cleaned. Staff were rude and acted as though I was bothering them anytime I dealt with them. I will never stay there again. I will stay at the local motel first! January 22, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Service was okay but hotel dirty. Staff was okay. Was told the hottub was closed by health department. Found dirty q tip and condom wrapper on floor next to bed. And the most disturbing thing was the dirty bedding with a feminine spot on the blanket that was to cover up with. These few thing were a housekeeping and maintenance issue but very much affected my stay. January 21, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Only nice thing was staff Staff at desk was very nice. Took elevator to the executive level and place looked like it started renovation 20 years ago and they still havent got around to it. I mean, tape on the doors with hand written room numbers... c'mon. Bennigans had about 7 poeple in there and most all food was going back. Best part was the local dive bar across st. Helped me sleep in the awful room/floor I had January 16, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by fully okay We stayed for a wedding. Most guests were on the refurbished floors. They are nice. Our floor was still being worked on. The room was okay. Thank goodness the windows opened as the heater really throws out some heat. The shower head was too low but there was good pressure and plenty of hot water. The bed is fine- not the best but certainly not the worst. The staff is friendly and quite helpful. Bennigans was a great place for breakfast with reasonable prices. January 5, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by The worst property ever- dirty I have stayed in many Holiday Inns and this one is the worst. It was dirty to the point of taking pictures of the grime. Rm 712 Bathroom had the ceiling register hanging with dust and dirt, the floor was grimey and still had mortar on the floor. The bedroom had built up dust and dirt behind the nightstand which was positioned so far away from the way- you could not help but see it. WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN>>>they said they were in the midst of a remodel but it looked like they literally slapped some paint and wallpaper on the walls and called it done. WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN. Description- grossly neglected and dirty December 11, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed No hot water for my shower and found hair in the tub. I would recommend a better cleaning job. December 10, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Should be condemned Room was tiny. No A/C. Bare minimum tv channels. Low water pressure. I had the "king executive suite". What a joke. December 5, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad, unconfortable Rooms The day I checked in there was neither shampoo nor lotion on the bathroom. There were spiderwebs hanging from the ceiling the day I got there and they were still there 3 days after, when i left. The AC didn't work well, it was around 90 degrees inside and 20 outside and I had to get up at night several times to try to regulate the temperature by opening the window. There were crumbs on the floor every night, and i never ate in the room, and the door lock didn't read the key until the 10th-11th try. The restaurant is fine, though. December 5, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fun in The District! We love staying here. Awesome staff, clean & comfortable rooms. Within walking distance of great food and fun (The District of Rock Island). November 22, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It was okay. Doesn't look like the hotel has ever been updated. I'm glad I stayed there on buisness. Would not have liked hotel at all if I were there for vacation. November 4, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great service, very clean very clean, comfortable with pleasant staff. Great value and updated rooms. November 4, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff but room uncomfortable There had been a mix up in my reservations, but the front desk was able to get me a room and the priority club reception was very welcome after a long day on the road. However the chairs in the room where well worn and uncomfortable. A great staff but needs some updating in the room. November 2, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Given wrong room at 11PM and no working phone in room Initial check in went well, but when we used the Card to enter room, the room was occupied. There was a police officer in the hallway and he asked if we had the correct room, so he tried to open the door again and asked if someone was there. (We hated to have bothered the occupants of that room at this late time in the evening.) We returned to the front desk and were given Card for a different room - it worked! When trying to call the desk for a wake-up call, the telephone did not work, so we used cell phone. We were given a discounted fare for the room, but were disappointed with the service provided relative to the Room Key and the telephone. October 26, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pitiful Hotel Hotel is a run down pile of garbage. The parking lot is the biggest joke ever. Had to park across the street at a public parking garage that seemed to be a hang out for the local criminals and vagrants. I also enjoyed tripping over the empty bottles of cheap gin at the bottom of the stairs. I had a pocket knife with me, but I really wished I'd been better armed. The inside of the hotel would be a great place to film a movie based in the early 70's. The walls were as thin as rice paper. The morning shower was void of any warm or hot water. If you like being irritated and disgusted, this is the place for you! October 24, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 A hotel in desperate need of a major overhaul. This was the worst stay in many years. Original room assigned had not been cleaned. Newly assigned room did not have chair or sofa and there was no luggage rack. Told they would look for a chair and that they no longer used luggage racks (untrue since other guests had them). Neither item ever appeared. Shower was barely luke warm although sink had hot water (after complaint temperature was marginally increased). Shower also lacked any nonskid surface. Nightly noise from pipes in ceiling and one night entire ventilation system failed. Wifi only worked if you were standing by door to room but not in main part of room or at desk. Although a non-smoking floor (8th floor executive rooms), at night there was heavy smell of cigarette smoke in hall and coming into room. After complaint to desk, smell was replaced by heavy air spray fragrance which was equally bad. Overall, I would not stay here again and have to wonder about all Holiday Inns. October 17, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Brief overnight visit The lobby area of this older building had been updated nicely and was very pleasant as were the front desk employees. The room was quiet and clean but seemed to be very worn. October 16, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good experience Although an older hotel, the place was very clean, and well kept. We had a good time there, and the reception for priority club members when we arrived was very nice. October 11, 2012
