Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by A Little Disappointed Our one night stay at Holiday Inn's Maidstone - Sevenoaks hotel made me realise why I prefer staying at the hotel round the corner. Despite an email the previous day confirming there would be a travel cot in our room we were disappointed to find just a folded out sofa bed and no cot. We had to call reception to sort this out and the person who eventually brought us one had no idea how to fold away the bed or set up the cot. This was after our arrival (with prior notice that we were travelling with a young child and all her clobber) fiasco where we found out our room was on the 2nd floor, up three flights of stairs with no lift. We expected that a young child would have a room on the ground floor or very close on the first floor. In Holiday Inn's defence, they were hosting a wedding that evening so perhaps all rooms were booked up or maybe they were trying to keep us away from potential noise and disruption, but they didn't tell us this so we felt as though they didn't care about us. Later on we decided to get some room service. Food was priced as expected, quite reasonable for a hotel to be fair. But again we were let down. This time my meal (lasagne) was cold in parts and no cutlery was brought up to the room. I ended up using a teaspoon from the tea/coffee making tray to eat my food! Despite these three major gripes, there were some positives. Firstly the girl on reception who checked us in was brilliant. She was cheerful, helpful and went out of her way to sort us out. She even carried a heavy bag to our room without moaning. The room was also very clean and we all got a good night's sleep, which I guess is all you really want at a hotel like this. All in all, I wouldn't stay here again if there was another hotel available within 30 miles but I'd prefer it to sleeping rough on the hard shoulder of the M26. August 13, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Having stayed at other Holiday Inns in the UK and the USA my experience was disappointing. The room was very dark and the long flight of stairs was a problem with carrying my luggage. The fire alarm went off one morning and there was little comment from staff. My bill included beverages I did not have. This hotel needs an upgrade of the rooms particularly of the bathrooms. My shower curtain was very stained. All such a shame as have had some very good experiences of Holiday Inn hotels previously. August 13, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable stop off Stayed here for one night on the way to get the Ferry @ Dover. Fist issue was the address given for the hotel is not very good for find the hotel with a satnav. Unfortunately we did not have a chance to use the restaurant as it we were told there was no tables and would need to wait for around half an hour for bar food. We booked a double bed executive room for 2 adults and a child. when we arrived the couch had been made up as a bed ready however they had taken two pillows from the main bed and placed them on the couch leaving just two on the Bed. I would hope that if you book a room for 3 people then it should be set up for tree people with the correct amount of pillows towels slippers etc. Breakfast was nice with a good selection and the waitress was helpful with my wife's dietary requests. Would stay again, August 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great service, polite staff, would use again Stayed 2 nights with my wife & the 3 grow up children (3 rooms) great service, nice hotel in green/landscaped surroundings; big car park, pool, 2 daughters used the sauna room, said it was good. would recommend. August 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great family hotel Everything you need from a family hotel, friendly professional receptionist who made a special effort to make my children welcome. Lovely restaurant well prepared food, presented by friendly attentive waitor - nothing was too much trouble. Great to find a family room which accomodates 5, not the usual 4 persons. August 12, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Will stay here again. Used as a stop over on the way to the Eurotunnel. Good hotel with everything that one would expect from the Holiday Inn. Family room was perfect for the four of us and we made good use of the leisure facilities. One improvement suggestion: A lift close to the second floor family rooms would make getting luggage in and out much easier. August 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfortable stopover A very nice hotel. The beds were comfortable, the room clean, staff very friendly. Really, we couldn't fault it - except maybe the fact we could hear the people in the next room talking, but this is something you expect in a hotel, and there really was very little noise overall. We only stayed for one night to break our journey so didn't make use of all the facilities. Next time we are in the area we will definitely stay here - and bring our swimwear so we can use the pool, which looked so inviting! So all in all a comfortable and enjoyable stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. August 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great service Everything apart for the pillows scored highly. They were marked soft but I found them uncomfortable. August 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pre tunnel stay for 15 Great pit stop before tunnel to France. Staff extremely helpful August 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel We only stayed here for two nights, the first night we had a meal which was included, you did have to book on arrival. The waiter called Trevor seemed new but was very friendly and helpful. The room had a fridge for your use which is unusual but was great. It wasn't stocked with the hotels drinks etc which again we preferred. We went to visit Dover which was about an hour away, the hotel is in easy access of the motorway. There was a pub a short walk away called The Moat which served nice food. Overall I would stay in this hotel again if I was to be visiting this part of the country. August 8, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Muy caro Pesima relación calidad-precio. Internet de muy mala calidad. Sin agua en la habitación y minibar vacio. August 8, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel shame about bar snacks Nice hotel with good facilities. Bar menu not great and would plan to eat in the restaurant or elsewhere if staying. Would use again. August 5, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by General comments Breakfast. Although generally good, on this occasion .we did not want the full breakfast and requested to know the price of the 'continental' breakfast. Apparently the price was the same so we declined. This was surprising as at other IHG hotels the 'continental' breakfast is a more acceptable price and indeed we were happy to have it. We both felt that the evening meal choice was not as good as in the past. I had a replacement knee back in May and found all the stairs really quite difficult. Fortunately we met a member of staff in a corridor and she was very helpful and insisted on taking the case to our room. She also saw me with the case on departure day and insisted on taking it to the car. Her name was Courtney and she really did IHG a credit. I am realy not too sure of the criterior for upgrading rooms for Platinum members. Perhaps you could let me know. However, your Standard rooms do have a fridge and this is always very much appreciated. We will certainly make a return visit. August 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable overnight stay I made a last minute booking to stay over for 1 night with my husband & 2 teenage boys. Finding a room that will accommodate the four of us doesn't always prove to be easy, but in this case it worked out perfectly. We stayed in an executive room as this had 2 double beds along with a sofa bed, which meant we all had a comfortable nights sleep. The lack of a lift wasn't a problem at all, 2 very short flights of stairs & we were straight to our room. Unfortunately we didn't have time to use the leisure facilities so I can't comment on these. We did manage time for a drink in the bar, and although there was some sort of function on in the adjacent room, we were served quickly & found a table easily enough. Although expensive, breakfast was very good. There was a wide choice of cereals, fruits, pastries, ham & cheeses & even the chance to make your own pancakes! The cooked breakfast was also very good & we didn't then need to eat until the evening. Ideally if I stayed again I would book well in advance as it was quite expensive, but then again I only booked 2 nights before staying. August 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great location for exploring Kent Love this hotel for exploring Kent and as we are from Cumbria we use it as a launch pad and landing site for travelling to and from France Great customer service always greeted with a smile and keen to help. We will be back. August 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is our favourite Holiday Inn - we keep returning Staff are lovely - can't ever do enough for you. Always so polite, attentive, friendly, professional. First time here on DBB. Usually just B&B. Would not choose buffet night again - it was mediocre. The other nights we ate off the a la carte - delicious, tasty, well presented. Pool always spotless. Jacuzzi powerful. Steam room steaming. Sauna soothing. Love the fact there's no restrictions on children swim times. The children are always well behaved that we meet here, and our youngest loves a day with family and friends - then a quick swim before bedtime. Don't change anything. Rooms and public areas always impeccable. Breakfast always spot on with everything in stock. August 2, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by No lifts I had to take the cases up 3 flights of stairs as there was no lift at the hotel. I am elderly as was not warned of this at reception. I was offered a room for sidaabled on the ground floor when I asked about a lift but that room had no bath, olny a shower. There should be a warning that rooom are distant from recption with 3 flights of stairs. July 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by quiet hotel close to main motorways but very quiet rooms, the staff are helpfull, July 28, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good but could be better The reception and restaurant staff are very welcoming and quite efficient at the reception. The service in the restaurant is quite slow. The car park is often quite busy with members of the on site health club parking their vehicles there. Guests at the hotel often have to search although a place can usually be found. The rooms are quite comfortable although fairly dark. The mobile telephone signal is particularly woeful and you may need to stand at the front of the hotel to obtain a signal. As with most of the Holiday Inn hotels, there are no sockets close to the bed so bring an extension lead should you require power close to the bed (CPAP Machine). This is a reasonable hotel within the IHG group, okay for a short stay. July 27, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dining Room My only comment would be that a little more attention to detail when serving meals in the dining room. We had the steak and had to ask for vinegar and mustard. Just tiny little niggly things. The staff were very attentive though and food was excellent. July 24, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by overall good but one or two areas need improvement Our stay was good overall and represented reasonable value. However ,the reception staff were a bit abrupt and not particularly helpful. There was no indication from them about the stairs to the room ( no lift as far as we could see ) and no offer to help us with our luggage -we saw a number of guests struggling up the stairs. Also it was meant to be a non smoking room although my wife said she could smell cigarette smoke- the ground outside our room was littered with cigarette butts which does not create a good impression. Finally we do not believe you should add service to the restaurant bill automaically. Service should be at the discretion of the customer. We asked for it to be removed but rewarded our indivdual waiter with a cash tip in recognition of his good service July 21, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by All ok... providing you don't mind a long wait. Hotel excellent in all respects other than tardy service. Have now stayed on three occasions and this is a combined review of all three stays. Not necessarily a reflection on the staff themselves, more a lack of them. On one occasion, I tried for 20 minutes calling reception, then the restaurant, then the operator... all to no avail. ...(Basically anybody that might answer the phone). No joy, so had to walk a long way back to reception, waiting a further 10 minutes, before being able to ask for a remote control for TV. When I inquired to as whether or not there was a problem with receptions phone, the lady simply said - I was with attending to a guest. Personally, you should either have more staff available or the courtesy to politely acknowledge a call and simply state that you shall call back after the guest(s) have been attended to. On another occasion, I had to order room service in person at the restaurant as no one would answer the phone and then had to wait for 30 minutes to order a drink later in the evening as only one person was available to tend to a busy bar. I have stayed multiple times now, and had the same service/response issues each time, meaning that although an IHG platinum member - I would now rather stay at another competitor hotel within the area. Kind regards, July 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brilliant hotel We stayed here for two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The pancake maker was the icing on the cake. It's a beautiful building. I'm annoyed that I didn't make use of the spa. The restaurant opened a bit too late in the evening (6.30) as we have a 3 year old and so we had to go elsewhere but that's the only negative. There are lots of places to eat nearby so it's hardly a negative really. July 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Lovely hotel. Would recommend this to anyone. Great staff and excellent facilities. July 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Typical Holiday Inn The Maidstone - Sevenoaks hotel is a typical Holiday Inn. The room was comfortable giving a good night sleep although there is a small amount of road noise with the window open. The breakfast / dinner / bar area is functional and satisfactory for the odd night. July 15, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by clean hotel, friendly staff would use again, comfortable bed, clean room, friendly staff. July 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Room was tiday and clean. Staff is helpful and sincere. Our family was welcomed by the hotel staff upon arrival. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Beds were cozy. The food was fine. we will recommend this hotel to our friends and will sure come again next time. July 12, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Weekend stay Disappointed that a hotel chain that advertises Starbucks coffee was out of stock and had to go out for coffee. Desk staff unable to find Taxi service at 1.30 am to transport relatives approx 3 miles after night out. Courtyard area not very clean and tidy July 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by In transit stay Sevenoaks Finding the hotel was the main problem. Approaching from South. had to ask a service station. Not in my satnav. Roomy car park, pleasant reception area . room dated decor and shabby couch. Bathroom also dated but worked. Breakfast was pricey so ate at Befeater 500 yds up road. July 9, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and quiet room, friendly staff We stayed here for two nights. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome by the duty receptionist. The room was some way and due to shape of hotel a bit of a walk with some steps involved even on the ground floor. This is due to hotel being built into a slope. Although very near the motorway it is very quiet. Room spacious and comfortable. Bathroom bit dated but clean. Had two good nights sleep as shutters make room dark when closed. Breakfast was good/average. Dinner was good with reasonable selection of food and wine. Service was quick but not rushed. On the morning following our first night we would have liked a coffee but told run out of coffee beans. There seemed to be break down in communication between bar staff and reception/management who were unaware . They were rectifying but too late for us! July 9, 2014
