Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dean01 Great pool and spa, friendly staff
I think it's the pool, spa and gym facilities that make this hotel. Only stayed 1 night but made full use of these. Rooms are comfortable but I wasn't happy that I had to pay for Wifi both in the rooms and in the lounge area. We had just stayed at the Holiday Inn Brentford lock and not only was in-room wifi cheaper (although it should be free!) but lounge wifi was free. The bar staff were very helpful, allowing us to order off the main restaurant menu even though the restaurant wasnt open at the time. This kind of help is always appreciated especially when you have young children.

The spa facilities reallt make this hotel very good value. i would have dinner if they have an offer for guests as my civil service expenses dont go that far. hotel in a nice setting, nice bar with open fire and the extras like free paper , coffee and chocolate on departure are nice touches which make me want to revisit - easily pleased. Breakfast was nice and i asked for porridge and poached eggs and staff were very happy to go the extra mile. negative is no real running water in my sink yes you heard it a trickle not enough to brush my teeth and iron was terrible like a kids and i had to attend a meeting the next day with a creased shirt.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fossie Nice room, shame about the room service!
I have stayed at this hotel before and am impressed by the staff who are always helpful and friendly. Like many Holiday Inn's the decor is looking a little tired but it is clean and comfortable. The pool is excellent too.
This visit was let down by the restaurant though. Poor attention to detail and attempts to overcharge me. I booked the inclusive dinner, bed and breakfast rate but when I ordered, was told that I had to pay a surcharge for my choice, even though it was the same price as other items on the menu. I assumed that the rate would include a drink too but I was told I would have to pay for my glass of water. In the event they sent a large bottle and charged me for a litre. Finally, my pot of sauces consisted of just mayonnaise and mustard -for ribs and chips! I resolved it all eventually with calls and at checkout but it was unnecessary hassle. Final gripe; when I'm paying a tray charge for food to be delivered to my room, why is the ice cream delivered with the main meal so it's melted by the time I'm ready to eat it?

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ukrjamie Strategic location, but all very average at best
The hotel is well placed for driving but is a rather shabby holiday inn. Most rooms are on the first floor and it's quite a struggle to climb so many stairs with a big suitcase. My keycard rarely worked in the door, so I had to go up and down those stairs to reception many times...
The staff were unfortunately rather useless. The phone didn't work in my room, and despite telling reception on two different occasions, nothing was done about it.
It was also impossible to get wifi in my room. After mentioning this to reception after checking in, I then spoke to an external IT consultant (linked to Holiday Inn) and he assured me he would tell the staff to get the router checked. The next day I informed reception about the problem again, but it seemed nobody really cared. When I checked out and told themagain about the problem, they seemed to think it was my problem for not phoning the IT consultant again (difficult due to phone not working!)
Breakfast was OK, although I felt like a prison convict with so many staff standing around watching me eat!
Room had a rather nasty smell of fried food - it smelt like somebody had been eating fish n chips in there the night before.
Not bad for a very short stay, but definitely on the lower rungs of the ladder for a Holiday Inn.

The hotel was very good with excellent parking. The staff were welcoming and helpful particularly in the restaurant. The bed room was quiet although I'm glad we were fit as we got plenty of exercise accessing it. The room itself was lovely with everything we wanted.
The entrance to the hotel and public rooms were attractive and well cared for.

Good room, and good gym but let down by new menu. No healthy options, no green salad, no vegetables. Oh and no BBC 4 either.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Devon3 The place to relax
We love staying at this particular Holiday Inn when visiting family or walking The Thames Path. The staff are lovely, Those in the restaurant are friendly and attentive, reception are welcoming and the housekeeping staff are brilliant; nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are delicious. The pancake machine is a fantastic addition and, when it broke down, chef cooked one from scratch, thank you. The room was clean, comfortable and relaxing...as usual.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sheralala Would go again!
I stayed for one night last week and wished I was staying for longer!
Everyone was lovely, the facilities were excellent and I actually managed to sleep! (a rarity for me away from home!)
Used the little gym and the pool and very happy with both.
If I wanted to get away for a couple of days they will be seeing me again! To balance it out, I'll just say... I would have liked a hairdryer in the room and perhaps a cheaper 'light bite" menu would have been a nice option.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by APPYHAMMER A surprisingly comfortable stay
Although the hotel looks dated, don't be worried staying at the hotel was a delight, you are made to feel very welcome as soon as you walk in the door. Ok my room was miles away well it seemed that way anyway, but spend a evening in the bar area and you are made to feel totally at home and very welcome especially by the young bar staff the brother and sister team (younger brother picked on by older sister) they made you feel at home and understood fully, that not only do you want to be recognised as an important customer. You also want to enjoy peace and quiet.
Just give you're rooms a lick of paint, loose the wooden shutters!
Thank you Maidstone I will be back!

Having forgotten my washbag and read the sign - forgotten something we can help - I was unable to get a toothbrush as they did not have any as customers take 2 or 3 at a time!! Really how many can you use at once. It took me three attempts to get this answer.

I booked an executive double room, when I checked in, the room that I booked was I available and a similar room was found. An executive room has some things added like bathrobes, bottles water and chocolate bars etc. on arriving at the room which was a trek, no lifts and up a few flight of stairs carting luggage, the room was missing these items so I complained in the morning, nothing was done and the items were not replaced.
When we went for breakfast we ordered two poached eggs which arrived 20 minute later.
Now I'm not a pompos individual but when you pay for luxury s you should get those bit of extras toile your stay a little bit special

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Devon3 Such a relaxing stay
Once again we had a relaxing and comfortable stay. The staff are really friendly and the room, although not ultra-modern, was clean and well appointed. The bed was heavenly, wide and comfy.
The steam room, gym and swimming pool are a gorgeous bonus.
The food was excellent, the only disappointment being that the pancake machine had broken. We have tried these pancakes in another Holiday Inn and they are superb, so I hope it will be mended before we stay again.
We have used this hotel for years when visiting family and friends and can heartily recommend it.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pompey not to the usual Holiday standard
well I have stopped at this hotel on a few occasions and had not on most visits been recognised as a platinum priority club member thus missing out on the benefits (despite on this occasion me ringing the hotel in advance to remind them). This last stop was the icing on the cake. Once again at check in the receptionist did not recognise me as a club member and when I enquired about this she stated that it was not on the booking form (although I had a duplicate copy from the booking agents which stated not only that I was a member but also my club membership number). The receptionist was really sweet and did all she could by bringing orange juice and biscuits to my room.
On the last morning I did not receive the paper that I had ordered and checked at reception and was told that I had not ordered one (despite receiving one the previous morning) I stated that I did and the man on reception shrugged his shoulders and turned his back on me. I asked what his problem was and re retorted that it was me with the problem.
A little while later another member of staff joined me at my breakfast table - she had overheard the commotion in reception and came to apologise. This was all well and good but the attitude of the man was the icing on the cake for me and I will never use this hotel again - a real let down in the fabulous customer service that I have experienced in the past at various Holiday Inn's

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RyanOfPoole Surprising & comfortable retreat
Stayed here for one night on a family trip after a long day at Legoland Windsor and prior to a day trip to Diggerland in Kent.
This property is nicely situated by the motorway (literally just off it), and the executive room perfectly accommodated 2 adults and 2 children, with separate beds for all of us!
Since I stayed on Priority Reward night points, breakfast was not included - so I had to pay £24 for us all to eat in the morning (kids eat free, and breakfast with discount was £12 each) - so that was pretty pricey I think - though the selection was fair, and quality good.
The room was well furnished, the bathroom a bit tired, but fully functional - you can understand the reluctance to take a room out of service for a number of days when there's no real need - just to improve aesthetics.
Overall, really happy with a reward night stay here! A good use of the points, the family all loved the hotel and we'd stay here again happily as a base hotel for nearby attractions/visits! (PS: Diggerland was great fun and only 20 minutes away from from this hotel!)

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nickyb29 Happy stay
The hotel is modern and attractive inside. 5 of us stayed in a family room and it was very spacious. the beds were comfy, we all slept well. Staff were friendly and efficient. My only criticism is that we came down for breakfast on the second morning just after 10. The pastries had already run out and were not replaced even tho we asked. We also asked for pancakes at about 10:30 and were told we couldn't have them. Overall though, it was a pleasant stay.

Have been a ihg reward member for a few years, receptionist pleasant enough but gave poor directions to room and didn't know what the buffet consisted of for evening meal. Although the room was on 2nd floor it was a great distance from reception with no lift. The room it's self although spacious wasn't very clean skirting boards not cleaned we had occasion to move the sofa bed and doing so found potato crisps all over the floor, obviously the room hadn't had a good clean for quite sometime. On going down to breakfast there was no bread , no croissants and no bacon we had to ask the staff on several occasions to replenish the dishes eventually getting bacon and bread for toast although we were told they had run out of croissants. Altogether an unsatisfactory standard for holiday inn group. would definitely not recommend or use this hotel again.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pamela67 Great Breakfast, poor location
This hotel is not in a good location, therefore if you do not wish to eat there, you have to drive by car to find somewhere. Our room was a non-smoking room however the smell of smoke hit you the moment you opened the door, also the bin in the bathroom had not been emptied. On the plus side, the gym and pool area are of a good standard and we could not fault the breakfast - massive choice and good quality.
