Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Wheelchair accessible room As a wheelchair user the bedroom was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom had plenty of grab rails in appropriate places. A grab rail by the bed would be helpful however. The breakfasts have improved since our last visit but unfortunately I cannot say the same about the bedroom cleanliness. We enjoyed using the garden and this along with the public areas of the hotel were all wheelchair accessible. The staff were friendly and helpful and we hope to return before too long. July 1, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor service and poor state of cleanliness. The level of cleanliness of the room and the hotel generally, for example upon returning from a day out the bins had been emptied and a used condom wrapper was left in the bin - not ours! No bin liners were used. There was a red stain on the bathroom tiles, possibly blood. On the steps to the garden which we used to access the bar, an empty lager can and several cigarette butts remained throughout the duration of our stay. The safe in the room didn't work, we reported this on day 2 but no-one turned up to fix it in the next two days. Clearly no follow-up by management. The attitude of the room service staff left a lot to be desired, particularly at night. The lack of any attempt at remediation made by the staff even after having reported several issues to a duty manager on the last evening. My husband and I have stayed in several Holiday Inns in the past few years and this is the worst one we have ever stayed in. Our trust in the brand has been severely compromised as a result of this trip. June 29, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bar and restaurant evening service is awful I really like this hotel. But the evening service is shocking. I have plenty of time to people watch as yesterday it took 45mins for my starter to arrive. It is very unusual to not find a bunch of customers waiting at the bar to find staff to serve them as they seem to have a free rein to wander off. The restaurant is even worse. The food is quite good when it arrives but the service is some of the worst I have experienced in a Holiday Inn. The supervisor appears to be more interested in dodging work and gossiping, and the staff join in. The only time you get an attentive member of staff, is if they have paid for a casual/temp so the other staff can do even less. The general manager needs to get a grip of this, before customers like myself change their bookings. This is my 3rd week here and patience is growing thin. June 24, 2015
