Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Would stay again & eat elsewhere! Had a very comfortable overnight stay 2 adults & 4 children after a long day in Canterbury before travelling to France the following day. The room was very comfortable. The kids loved the swimming pool and there was a selection of small toys for them to play with (balls, watering can, boats, sinkers, floats) & a bubble tub for 5 & overs. The food in the resturant was good but service was slow and VERY EXPENSIVE! 'Kids eat free' but two adult meals and drinks #one starter, 2 mains, 3 drinks & 1 dessert between us# came to over £70!!! If I had know there is a beefeater a stone throw away we would've gone there. Turn left out of carpark & it's by the traffic lights on the right less that 2 min drive! Didn't use wifi as I refuse to pay extra. Although I had no phone network in the area! March 13, 2014

Staff where fantastic everyone made you feel so special, very friendly. Brilliant swimming pool and gym the layout is very good. Definitely recommend this hotel it has everything and more. The hotel had good facilities and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times.Little disappointed with size of room compared with the others in our party. We had b.b & evening meal which was good value as we booked well in advance and got good rates . Some of the evening meals were a bit messed up as there was a lot of us . However we were given a discount on the drinks because of this. Maidstone town was 11 miles away which didn't make it easy to visit. However overall we had a good time and would visit again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Relaxing break We stayed at this hotel on the weekend of 7th February, after travelling from France it was lovely to see, we had a very spacious family room, we have two children aged 8 and 10, there was plenty of room for all of us, the breakfast was good, the staff were always on hand and very polite, and nothing was too much trouble especially the restaurant staff. The swimming pool looked really good although we did not use it this time (as I forgot to take the swimming stuff, to which I am still being reminded). We will definitely be booking again and be recommending this hotel to others in the UK and France. February 12, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Expensive Even with a corporate rate this hotel is expensive. When it was booked we were told there were no standard rooms available and we had to book executive rooms. On the website it was showing standard rooms available but booking on line would mean the loss of our corporate rate. Something is not quite right. Try Rochester it is usually cheaper and the rooms are better. No points voucher offered on this visit. February 3, 2014

The complentry wifi for IHG loyalty is not good at all being only 256k , and overpriced for decent speed. The rooms could also do with a blanket in the wardrobe. January 26, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great pool and spa, friendly staff I think it's the pool, spa and gym facilities that make this hotel. Only stayed 1 night but made full use of these. Rooms are comfortable but I wasn't happy that I had to pay for Wifi both in the rooms and in the lounge area. We had just stayed at the Holiday Inn Brentford lock and not only was in-room wifi cheaper (although it should be free!) but lounge wifi was free. The bar staff were very helpful, allowing us to order off the main restaurant menu even though the restaurant wasnt open at the time. This kind of help is always appreciated especially when you have young children. January 6, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by my stay The spa facilities reallt make this hotel very good value. i would have dinner if they have an offer for guests as my civil service expenses dont go that far. hotel in a nice setting, nice bar with open fire and the extras like free paper , coffee and chocolate on departure are nice touches which make me want to revisit - easily pleased. Breakfast was nice and i asked for porridge and poached eggs and staff were very happy to go the extra mile. negative is no real running water in my sink yes you heard it a trickle not enough to brush my teeth and iron was terrible like a kids and i had to attend a meeting the next day with a creased shirt. Like many Holiday Inn's the decor is looking a little tired but it is clean and comfortable. The pool is excellent too. This visit was let down by the restaurant though. Poor attention to detail and attempts to overcharge me. I booked the inclusive dinner, bed and breakfast rate but when I ordered, was told that I had to pay a surcharge for my choice, even though it was the same price as other items on the menu. I assumed that the rate would include a drink too but I was told I would have to pay for my glass of water. In the event they sent a large bottle and charged me for a litre. Finally, my pot of sauces consisted of just mayonnaise and mustard -for ribs and chips! I resolved it all eventually with calls and at checkout but it was unnecessary hassle. Final gripe; when I'm paying a tray charge for food to be delivered to my room, why is the ice cream delivered with the main meal so it's melted by the time I'm ready to eat it? December 10, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Strategic location, but all very average at best The hotel is well placed for driving but is a rather shabby holiday inn. Most rooms are on the first floor and it's quite a struggle to climb so many stairs with a big suitcase. My keycard rarely worked in the door, so I had to go up and down those stairs to reception many times... The staff were unfortunately rather useless. The phone didn't work in my room, and despite telling reception on two different occasions, nothing was done about it. It was also impossible to get wifi in my room. After mentioning this to reception after checking in, I then spoke to an external IT consultant (linked to Holiday Inn) and he assured me he would tell the staff to get the router checked. The next day I informed reception about the problem again, but it seemed nobody really cared. When I checked out and told themagain about the problem, they seemed to think it was my problem for not phoning the IT consultant again (difficult due to phone not working!) Breakfast was OK, although I felt like a prison convict with so many staff standing around watching me eat! Room had a rather nasty smell of fried food - it smelt like somebody had been eating fish n chips in there the night before. Not bad for a very short stay, but definitely on the lower rungs of the ladder for a Holiday Inn. December 9, 2013

The bed room was quiet although I'm glad we were fit as we got plenty of exercise accessing it. The room itself was lovely with everything we wanted. The staff are lovely, Those in the restaurant are friendly and attentive, reception are welcoming and the housekeeping staff are brilliant; nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are delicious. The pancake machine is a fantastic addition and, when it broke down, chef cooked one from scratch, thank you. The room was clean, comfortable and usual. November 16, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Would go again! I stayed for one night last week and wished I was staying for longer! Everyone was lovely, the facilities were excellent and I actually managed to sleep! (a rarity for me away from home!) Used the little gym and the pool and very happy with both. If I wanted to get away for a couple of days they will be seeing me again! To balance it out, I'll just say... I would have liked a hairdryer in the room and perhaps a cheaper 'light bite" menu would have been a nice option. November 4, 2013

Check in great very good service, if your have to check out early they won't to charge extra, even when you have paid in full for the room.!!!!!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A surprisingly comfortable stay Although the hotel looks dated, don't be worried staying at the hotel was a delight, you are made to feel very welcome as soon as you walk in the door. Ok my room was miles away well it seemed that way anyway, but spend a evening in the bar area and you are made to feel totally at home and very welcome especially by the young bar staff the brother and sister team (younger brother picked on by older sister) they made you feel at home and understood fully, that not only do you want to be recognised as an important customer. You also want to enjoy peace and quiet. Just give you're rooms a lick of paint, loose the wooden shutters! Thank you Maidstone I will be back! September 29, 2013
