As stated above, these are really the only reasons I stay at this location. I have never been super impressed. The rooms aren't the greatest...outdated and I've stayed in several where the air units in the bathroom don't work well. I've also experienced room card not working and this seems to be an on-going problem they have, the elevator lights not matching the accurate floors, and I, unfortunately, also did not receive a wake up call one morning. There has also been one occasion where I couldn't find a parking place because of a convention. I wouldn't recommend this location really to anyone, but I continue to come back because of how close it is to my business location and I get a free drink at the bar. Other than that, I really don't have many other positive things to say.
The best staff person BY FAR (she works the front desk) ... I can't remember her name, but she has an accent (maybe from Brasil?), but she is always incredibly polite, friendly, and out-going. She's awesome, you should really think about promoting her.

I was in a suite #508. I had problems opening and closing the closet. It seemed to have to be lifted up and was hard to pull open. I was afraid it would fall off the track. The stool would keep running at times and I had to lift up the lid and find the chain stuck under the seal....so, after that I would just jiggle the toilet handle and it would quit running. OTHER THAN THAT...it was a nice stay. Thanks for all the kind words from nice staff.

We had a girls weekend and this is a great place to stay. Close to the mall and good places to eat. the staff in the bar was great and very friendly.

I arrived late at night from a 8 hour road trip. I checked it and them went to park my car. The lot was full of trucks and trailers taking up 2-3 spots each. I had to park and walk around the outside the hotel in the dark. It was not safe and when I told the front desk, they could care less. I got a coupon when I checked in for a free drink but since it took me so long to park, it was now closed. I got to my room and realized it was a handicapped room so I had to call and change rooms. I asked it the gym was open and was told yes but when I went down the lights wouldn't turn on and no one could get them to work.
The bed was good but I would never stay at the place again.

I was playing bridge from Wednesday through Sunday. The entire week was great with pleasant personnel in every department as well efficient people in every department willing to do the extra things making the stay exceptional.

I stay here at least once a month and it is well overdue to write a review. First and foremost the consistency of this Hotel is amazing from one stay to the next. This speaks highly of the management team and staff and their individual committment to excellence.
The front staff are always cordial and professional, the restaurant good and welcoming and the support staff is always friendly, smiling and have something good to say.
You have set the bar high for all other IHG properties!!

Good location at Rock road and Kellogg. Nice modern hotel. Has the upgraded bed and bedding. Wish it had a breakfast bar. The restaurant doesn't open til 6 am.

Were excellent. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful with a couple of items I needed assistance with.
My only negative comment would be the lunch we were served with the KAC group Sunday at the convention. It was chef's choice and all the same color. Limited veggies and no fruit. It wasn't tasty or very healthy.
The rooms were reality comfortable and dark and quiet.

I stayed the night of October 5, 2013 for the Kansas Authors Club conference. Was impressed with my room, with the service, and with the staff. The meeting room setups were excellent, and the food was good. I paid for another night there at a silent auction. I'm hoping my husband and I can go on our wedding anniversary next year!

This was very nice stay after having a bad stay in a couple of other cities. The staff is ALWAYS freindly at this location and will take care of any request you might. This is certainly not a new location

I consider myself an easy-going person but my experience was not the best. My room wreaked of smoke and the room itself seemed aged and somewhat dirty. In the end its the small things that matter - i asked the front desk for a complimentary water? Answer: No! Do you know where I can find the complimentary coffee bar? Answer: No!
Now I come from a customer service industry and if you ever find yourself saying No back to back - its a bad sign. I got the feeling that I was just another dude staying the night - the staff could have cared less.
I would not recommend staying at this hotel for these reasons.

The woman at the desk was WONDERFUL!!!! She made us feel like she was welcoming us into her own home!!! We are platinum guests and this Holiday Inn was the BEST we have stayed in to this date!!! It will not be the last time we stay here!!!

Not sure anyone working there, especially in the bar/restaurant had any desire to be there. Unfortunately, there unhappiness was unleashed on numerous hotel guests to the point it was considered harassment.
Staff lady (initials KVH) in charge the night of the wedding reception made it a point to constantly harass someone, including the bride! There were no warnings or reasoning, just a very unhappy, rude woman on a power trip.
Everyone in the bar/restaurant was "offended" that they had business. Bartenders had no desire to work and breakfast staff were overwelmed by a small handful of custormers. Next to no food available on the breakfast buffett so menu items were the only option.
On top of that. We could not use our bathtub the 2nd morning due to the ceiling leaking into our tub! Only response from front desk was "Ok, it's noted".

Check-out time posted on door is clearly 1:00 PM but the front desk insisted (at 11:45 AM) that check-out time was noon. I stayed in a suite for 2 nights and the bed wasn't fixed nor the room cleaned the entire time I was there. They only dropped off clean towels. I was billed for an extra room on my credit card. When I brought it to their attention, they agreed that I was overbilled but was told to wait 4 days and if it wasn't corrected by then, to go to my bank and have them take care of it. We also used the banquet facilities and catering services and were treated horribly. Seems that once they had the money in hand, they had no interest in providing the services that had been paid for.

Front desk help very courteous and helpful. Bar staff very unfriendly
and rude. Paid for two beers with a $20 and never received change. Did not leave a tip. At the wedding reception we attended staff spoke with microphone about underage drinking and shutting the bar down. They finally ask a gal to leave (because they assumed she was under age) and she had to show her ID that she was 30 yrs. old and had her husband and three children there. We did understand what the staff lady was meaning, but the rude tone and accusations she made were in a very rude and uncalled for tone One guest did have too much to drink and vomited in the lobby of the motel. I do believe that the hosts of the reception should have seen to it being cleaned up, but they did not. The hotel staff left it sit there for at least 30 minutes, with guests continually passing by it. Very gross!. At the end of the reception the staff called the police (6 officers) to close the dance down. The staff never did ask and one to leave....they just called the cops for no reason.

I have stayed here several times before. Always clean room, treated very well. Bar downstairs for an after work drink, Ate in the lounge also. The food was very good.
I travel for my job and a clean room means much to me. Holiday Inn chain has always supplied me with that.

I've stayed at this hotel several times in past and had good visits, although this time seemed to be very poor. The hotel seemed to be hot & they had fans placed in the halls atleast trying to improve the situation. Maybe I can understand this due to the extreme heat that day of 109 degree's. When I made it to my room which was the Jacuzzi suite all lights are turned on & drawers all pulled out. as if it wasn't finished being cleaned. On to the restaurant the food was good and service seemed to be really slow but not to Shannia trying, She was serving most of the customers and struggling to keep up. as I watch 2 managers chatting with another employee behind the register. Seemed that they would seat guests and pass by the bar to tell her she had new guests. The shower holds water almost ankle deep as you shower as well.

Pretty typical property for an older Holiday Inn. The resturant lounge was a pleasent surprise. The food was good and the staff were enjoyable. If in the area this would again be our choice. The front desk staff do need some customer service refreshment, we were quoted one rate on the phone however the cost was different at check in with the same empoyee.

I've stayed in this hotel numerous times and I have to say it's one of my favorite places to stay. The staff is exceptional and I recommend it highly to anyone who hasn't stayed here before. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable and there is ample room to work when on business.

The front desk people--Coleen, Carlene, and Jeremiah were excellent. The room and accomadations were excellent. We had a party there in the Pecan room and some things were messed up with that service. They were minor stresses. When we showed up...the electronic board by the check in desk said our party was in the Pecan room. I was an hour early and went to check out the Pecan room and they had "another" party maked on the wall ...some Victory Church?? and not us. I went to the front desk and Jeremiah said he would have this corrected. So, when every one showed up an hour later it was correct. When the graduation cakes arrived we realized that the Holiday Inn did not supply us with cake serving knife, etc. I told the "set up" staff and they said that was not on their ORDER when setting up the room ...just cake plates and dinner plates. I asked if it would be an extra charge to get the cake serving stuff. They said NO and brought the cake serving stuff within minutes. When they showed up I showed them MY CONTRACT and the last words in one paragraph talked about providing cake serving silverware. They wondered why it was not on their work order?? We had a ton of plates for cake. Next about 4:00 a Man came and asked if we wanted our Pizza at 4:30. We all said NOOOOO, we are supposed to have it at 5:30. He said Ok, and left. The pizzas were delivered at 5:00. We told them that we were to have this pizza at 5:30 and that some of our group had gone to the mall and were expecting the pizza at 5:30. They were polite and said that they would put it into a "warmer" and bring it back at 5:30. when they brought it back at 5:30 people complained that it was Mostly COLD. Your service staff asked me if we had changed the TIME for getting our pizza?? I told her that in early May or end of April I had set it up to have our Pizza at 6:00 PM and the staff said that was a difficult time...so we "changed it" to 5:30PM. So, their WORK ORDER should have said 5:30PM.I was the last one in line and they ran out of plates on the person before me. I had NO PLATE. These large plates were about 12" across...so, I went to the cake table and they still had about 15 small plates -- about 6" across. I took one and loaded on my pizza. My pizza hung off 2 sides. UUUGGGHHH! Anyway the staff were nice and helpful and I gave each of them a $20 tip (2 people =$40)

Part of my choosing the IHG brand is because of the thought that a nicer branded hotel chain would have quality equipment to appeal to the guests. However, based on my recent stay over the past 2 weeks, I had a different experience. I like to exercise on a daily basis and my recent stay, I was unable to because the treadmill was out of order. With the size of the hotel, one would think there would be more than one treadmill for starters and if there was only one, it would be in good quality working order. I will have to reconsider where I stay on my next visit to Wichita for work.
