Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by No Parking Spot & Threw Out My Pillow We stayed at the Williamsport Holiday Inn on July 4th of this year. We had stayed here before and had no problems. This year we arrived to find the usual route to the hotel blocked by police because of the fireworks that evening. Took us 25 minutes to find a way into the parking lot of the hotel (after stopping to ask a cop). We had to first check in with an employee who was standing at the entrance to the hotel when we entered the parking lot. He checked his list to ensure we were actually registered guests. That's a great idea to do that, we thought. It ensures you will have a spot to park. We drove around looking for a parking spot in the lot and there were none because the parking spots that didn't have cars had people camped out in lawn chairs. I'm assuming these people were not registered guests. Not many people bring lawn chairs when they check into a hotel. So we ended up parking in a spot that was not a legitimate spot. When we checked in and informed the staff at the desk we were told we could go out after the fireworks were over and move our car to a "real" parking spot. That was a more than 2 hour wait.. We were tired and just wanted to relax and fall asleep but I had to wait for over 2 hours to move my vehicle. There was no mention when I made the reservation that roads would be closed and that we would be rerouted. I even called the Holiday Inn desk earlier in the afternoon to confirm the reservation and no one mentioned it to me then. I just think that it's the responsibility of the hotel to advise you of any changes that affect your ability to find the hotel and interferes with what you choose to do once you check in. We got up in the morning, ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant, packed and left. Later that night I realized I left my pillow at the hotel. I decided to wait until the morning to call because Housekeeping wouldn't have been there that late. When I called the next day I was told that the maid who cleaned our room didn't bring my pillow to the Housekeeping Office Lost and Found. The person in Housekeeping I spoke to said that when a maid finds an object that a guest has left behind, they are to take it to Lost and Found in case the guest calls and asks to have the item returned. The maid I spoke to was kind enough to check the room we stayed in Saturday night but the pillow was not there. I'm assuming the maid who cleaned our room threw it in the trash. So we will not be staying here on future trips. There are other hotels that will notify me when I have to take an alternate route to find their hotel and that will not throw away my belongings when I accidentally leave them. July 7, 2015
