It is in a good position by York racecourse but still easy to get into Town by Taxi or Bus. The Rooms are comfortable and the Hotel Car Park has plenty of room. April 20, 2013

The reception staff were very welcoming on our arrival and went out of their way to be obliging.Especially worthy of note was the manager who greeted us on two mornings and asked if we slept well and wished us a pleasant day.These touches make all the difference! George too was a ray of sunshine in the restaurant always eager to ensure we had a good breakfast. The array of food on offer was excellent.Room comfortable and clean. A thoroughly enjoyable stay and we would certainly recommend the HOLIDAY INN AT YORK. April 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Short family stay We stayed for two nights and had a great overall experience. Our family room was adequate although the double bed could of been a little bigger. Complimentary refreshments including chocolates on arrival were greatly received. Reception staff were really helpful, friendly and gave us lots of advice including tourist information including bus times and numbers etc. The best part of our stay had to be the wonderful breakfast. Everything you would need, hot, cold and best of all the pancake machine!! Our daughter loved it!! More than happy with everything and would almost certainly come back again. April 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Handy & good food As always the food was great and the first night was fine. On our second night it just took rather a long time coming - 45 minutes. I know you have to look after the tour type customers but if you know you have a large number of people dining at one time it maybe an idea to advise others to maybe book a little later. Assisted us with local information to aid our search the following day. The rooms were clean, well maintained and to a good standard. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall Good -Watch out for phone charges My room was comfortable with lots of white bedding which was clean; my one experience in the cafe was good. I stayed 6 nights and my experience with staff/service was v. variable. Mostly pleasant but bad telephone experience was memorable! GOODMy phone didn't work and it was replaced immediately Reception did a google map for me to get back to MAN airport -good BAD Phone calls very expensive ( I am US visi tor and would have been cheaper to use my expensive iPhone; No phone book#-- also no number for hotel on phone or in room !!!!; and they were busy at FD and gave me a VERY expensive directory # to call for Brit Air. If guests have to rely on yr staff accessing computer for phone numbers, make sure they can do it quickly pls. I had a phone bill for 35 pounds for this ONE call which FD did reduce by 20 when I left-but all the same!!!) BAD -room cleaner --sometimes good and sometimes not thorough at all. Tea stain/crumbs left and tissue box and toilet tissue not replaced. I left tip every day, too. March 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mid week break This hotel is 10mins by bus or taxi from the railwaystation. I choose this for a midweek break to celebrate my husbands birthday. I did not pay the full price for this hotel as it was a superbreak holiday including train fares. The receptionist gave us a very warm welcome and was very informative of the area. The room was spotless no complaints at all. Breakfast was very enjoyable and plenty of choice. Overall a very good place to stay when visiting York. We would use it again. March 20, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Location The location of this Hotel is great, the view out of our bedroom window of the Racecourse was lovely, plus we were able to walk into York as its not to far about 30 minutes, also the free parking is always an added bonus.The bathroom was extremely small but the bed area was a very good size and lovely and warm as you can control your own heating, i felt the bedroom could have been alot cleaner, there was so much dust under the bed i dont think the bed had ever been moved, the kettle lid was dusty and coffee stained, also at the back of one of our bedside tables there was tea/coffee splashes, if we could see them why couldn't Hayley, our cleaner? Having said these few negatives our overall stay was very good, the breakfast was fantastic, we loved the pancake machine and the staff at breakfast are great, the lady who makes sure everything is well stocked up was lovely and friendly and provided my partner with his cheese on toast every day a big thank you to her and George was always very friendly and helpful. We arrived late but were able to completely relax and refreshed for the next day's travel. Will almost certainly stay here again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good service and comfortable room The location of this hotel was ideal for us. Set in a quiet location but only a 5 minutes bus ride from central York and family friendly. Our room was very clean and the beds were comfy with a selection of pillows to ensure maximum comfort. Our room was at the back of the hotel and we heard no external noise overnight. The bathroom was very small but functional. There was a good selection at breakfast and the 'make your own pancakes' was a big hit with my daughter. The service during breakfast and on reception was friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay again on our next visit to York. March 10, 2013

The Bathroom was adequate, plenty of hot water and powerful shower too. Was able to leave the car in the car park, whilst we took a short bus ride to the city centre Recommend you book for breakfast. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very polite staff My husband and I recently stayed for one night. The staff everywhere were all polite and very accommodating. The room was lovely and clean! Lots of hot water and lovely and warm, but the bathroom was the smallest I had ever seen!!. Breakfast was a little busy and they did run out of certain items on the cooked section and people were stood waiting for items to be replenished but we were not in a hurry and waited for the food to be stocked up. There was plenty of tea or coffee and juices etc and newspapers to read so overall an enjoyable breakfast.The hotel is approx 2miles from the centre of York but there are busses running regular if you don't fancy the walk. Thought it might be a bit far outside the city centre but a brisk walk helped to maintain a good exercise regime. Would recommend to friends & family. Staff helpful and breakfast first class. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looking forward to returning Travelling on Business, I visit the area regularly, and where possible I try to book this Holiday Inn in York as it is always a pleasant stay. The staff are really friendly, the hotel is nice, and the beds are super comfy. The only draw-back is the distance from York city center (~2 miles) means it may not be ideal for the leisure traveller, however I understand York has good bus/park and ride services to get you in quite easily without taking a car. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mini break to York Lovely staff, very polite and helpful. Rooms were as you would expect, clean, tidy and fresh looking. Good HD TV, super shower and lovely towels and bedding. Couldn't fault it. Breakfast however wasn't as good. Buffet style food scrambled egg had a crust on the top. It had obviously been there for some time. The black pudding also uninviting. Only got offered one cup of coffee and no refill. Hotel in great position for the park and ride into the city which was very resonable. Altogether a good stay and would return but wouldn't, have breakfast again unless it had been inproved. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service with a smile Having just driven down from Newcastle, having stayed at the Holiday Inn at Seaton Sluice, we were met by friendly staff who from the moment we walked in could not have been more helpful. We had a drink in the bar, and then a perfect meal in the resteraunt. The food was out of this world, with really good service. Again friendly and happy staff. We would recommend this hotel for anyone, as nothing appearse to be too much trouble for any member of the staff. February 25, 2013

One waitress, surname Carter, was friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and the area. Would stay again February 13, 2013
