Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Usual Holiday Inn Quality Stayed here twice now,usual Holiday Inn standards, not quite 4 star but for the price we have paid each stay you would be pushed to find better. Breakfast and Dinner cuisine is of a good standard and all the staff we encountered were pleasant and courteous. Room remade each day with fresh towels. Downsides - the hotel is a few miles from York centre so you need to drive / bus / walk to get there (unless you are a horse race fan, in which case you are right on top of York race course). If it were nearer York centre this hotel would be extremely hard to beat. December 17, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 good customer service This is a nice hotel and not too far into York Centre. The bus stop is about a 1 minute walk away! The public areas are all very nice and there is even a starbucks for coffee addicts. We stayed here for 2 nights combining work with our annual Xmas party. The rooms are quite small and the bathrooms are a bit dated but overall our stay was a pleasant one. We did have a slight complaint but it was dealt with quickly by the reception staff who were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is as much as you want to eat and was very tasty although after a large dinner the night before I couldn't manage a cooked breakfast on our second morning. December 17, 2014

It proves to be well located, comfortable and the staff there are always attentive and friendly. The only negative I have on this trip was the tired look of the 'standard' room we stayed in. It was very clean etc but the carpet looked tired and worn which gave the room a tired look to it. December 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Xmas market break I had originally booked an executive room. My husband is in a wheelchair for getting around but is mobile so wanted more space for the chair but didn't require adaptions, etc.We were also taking our 2 dogs so wanted room for them (beds, etc). I was contacted just after booking to check my requirements as I had made notes of this. Lee was very understanding and explained that the disabled rooms may be better suited as they were originally 3 rooms knocked into two so the lounge area was actually larger than the executive rooms. The room was available so he changed the booking and we saved quite a bit of money. As promised, the room was great with plenty of space to put the wheelchair out of the way to plug in and recharge. The bathroom was huge but did have a low sided bath for ease of access. There were also rails and a seat if required for the bath. We were able to take the dogs into the bar area where bar meals were served. In the mornings, we had breakfast served to the room as there was a table and chairs. This meant we didn't need to leave the dogs on their own. All the food was delicious, both in the bar and the breakfasts. We were in York to go to the Xmas markets and had gone by train. There are buses every few minutes to a stop by the hotel so we were able to use these buses from the train stop and also for getting to York centre. We did however walk into and out of York a couple of times and this was a pleasant 40 min walk. This was walking with a wheelchair and 2 dogs so not at a fast pace. The staff all looked after us very well, from the reception to the bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and would love to go back. December 7, 2014
