Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Crewe stopover One night stay on a business trip. Comfortable room with excellent bed. Good Wi-Fi. Good shower but not great lighting in the bathroom. Patio door onto balcony did not lock. Limited dinner menu but adequate quality of food. Staff very welcoming and sent receipt by e-mail for quick, early check-out. January 27, 2016

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Needs improvement - Building good A really nice building, good location for what we needed and when booking a hotel expecting a nights sleep was good value when booked. A comedy of errors.. well not funny really. Parking, plenty of it ,when you managed to get past all the europcar hire vans from the rental depot parked on the car park entrance. They have an IHG rewards club and if I give them my email I can join and get benefits. I am already a spire elite and have been elite for years, oh was the response. So no not pre-booked in and key ready, no elite recognition, no welcome and thank your for being a spire. Another member off staff did jump in and say would i like the points or drink. Given room 114 down a dark corridor with very squeaky floor boards. Really nice rooms a goot cat 4 HIX. Excellent rooms. Back in bar, had a few drinsk then our guests arrived to pick us up. Waited at the bar and no service, in the end I went down to the check in bit and managed to get the two mebers of staff to put the smart phones down and one of the come and serve us. Back to hotel after a great meal out. At 03:30 it started guests between two rooms on floor 1 and floor 2 returned and carreid on between the two rooms for about half an hour. Banging, loads noises, doors slamming. Constant movement in the corridor. That woke us up.. It stopped after 15 minutes and went quite. Tried ot get back to sleep, then at 04:15 soeone returned to one of the rooms and was banging the door to wake up the occupant to let them in.. That woke us up again. That ruined a nights sleep. Breakfast area clean and nice. However items needed to be re-stocked and it was a case of asking no them being done. Orange juice ran out, milk in the coffee machine, white bread ran out. Overall a great building but not a great stay. January 23, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant Hotel and Staff This was very much a quick sleepover, as I arrived at 0130 and was down to breakfast at 0900 to catch a train home. Arrival and check in was warm and friendly, even at such an unsociable hour. My Gold Elite status was recognised and so to bed.. My stay at this point was marred by being given a room on the second floor at the front of the hotel, overlooking Macdonald's. Not that I have any objection to the twin yellow arches - just the drunken, noisy unruly customers who regardless of the hour and the proximity to a hotel, seem intent on shattering everyone's peace by shouting at the tops of their voices - men and women alike, so I was kept awake until after two and woken again around four. Only when I got up for breakfast, did I notice the pair of complementary earplugs on the bedside table, so it's a known issue. Bear in mind this was a Monday night, so Lord knows what's like on Fridays and weekends! So, advice when booking - insist on a room at the back and as high up as possible. January 15, 2016
