Attempted to book the hotel online and for the first time use my points however I found it too confusing to book using points ; ended up calling the 1-800 number to book and although the person was very polite and helpful in the end when I checked into my hotel I discovered they had booked the wrong location (I had mentioned the hotel I desired to book was off MacLeod Tr but was an EXPRESS hotel in the Avenida shopping complex, however, the Holiday Inn on Macleod Trail closer to downtown was booked; when I checked in the hotel staff at the correct location was able to cancel my booking and offer me rooms in their hotel, however, again it was cumbersome to use the points so I ended up paying for the 3 nights.

There is visible evidence of the wear and tear on the property. The bathroom's surfaces are worn, the door trim and flooring trim are also worn. The breakfast patties were over cooked / heated to the point of being inedible. They now use styrofoam coffee cups which either imparts a taste to the coffee or its not the same coffee as it once was. The mattress is nearing the end of its useful life.

This hotel surprised me. Its nice and new. A top Holiday Inn Express, in my experience.

The only nice things were the layout of the pool (family friendly), and a variety at breakfast.
Downsides: Being checked into someone else's (occupied!) room, and without apology by the secretive front reception; lousy soundproofing to the hallway (doesn't help if across from the ice machine); and lack of new towels poolside and in the suite.

cleaning staff could use a few more minutes in the cleaning of rooms and double check that everything is up to standards maybe have a check list of supplies for each room

This is a great business hotel. The only downside is the included breakfast which is really quite basic. The hot food in particular is somewhat "plastic". However there is an adequate variety of cold foods.

When in Calgary we stay at this holiday Inn because it is convenient to our relatives which we are there to visit. It tends to be a bit more expensive than the other Inns we have stayed at especially on this trip where we moved across the province visiting. It was not that different from Canmore.
