Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient, adequate Poor sign posting for hotel on dark windy night.Room clean but smelt rather musty.We were pleased with staff quick response to request for move to another room.Room adequate but comfortable Very disappointing breakfast.Poor standard of coffee,almost inedible croissants-I noticed that other customers were l also leaving them uneaten. A recent holiday In stay in the Wirral saw a slight improvement in breakfast quality The decor of the rooms in both hotels looked shabby and tired. January 6, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by average room we enjoyed our little week end break but the room is average and ok nothing special and the breakfast is ok but the scrambled egg is always runny and not firm enough, the cereals used to be in a box now its in a dispenser, which we do not like because you don,t know if its kelloggs or a cheap copy, but i will give the weekend 9 out of 10. the shower gel as changed it was lux or dove now its a pink gel i don,t like, and the hand wash as well now thats gone blue not keen at all. but we will return one day for another weekend, and we had a nasty stain on our sofa bed. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed this time. We have stayed here several times before. I am carer to an elderly disabled lady and we stay here when she has hospital treatment in Cardiff, or as was the case this time - just in need of a break. She found the pillows in her room were hard and lumpy with the filling broken up into clumps - well past their best. Also for some reason in that room there is a loud 'cracking' sound coming from behind the headboard, loud enough to wake you. The bed was very hard so had to try sleeping on top of the duvet which was folded in two although this didn't help much. Left a note for housekeeping and they replaced the pillows - so no complaints there, but surely these things should be checked regularly before they get to that stage? We went down to breakfast after a sleepless night to find that there was no butter for the toast. Hard to believe that a hotel would have no butter over the Christmas holidays! Bread and marge for breakfast, no other vegetarian food so skipped breakfast and went out for the day. That night the heating in the room stopped working. After a very cold night I reported it to reception and was told it was probably just a fuse. Simple to fix then? No - it wasn't fixed and when we got back to the hotel that night once again the room was freezing and the heating not working. Overall a cold uncomfortable bleak Christmas. December 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, functional and value for money if flying We stayed for one night after a late flight but parked the car there for the week before which was included in the price. The staff were friendly, efficient and made us feel welcome. The room was very clean and had tea and coffee making facilities although the sleep quality of the bed was not great it was adequate. Mattress was a little lumpy and the pillows flat. Breakfast is served from early hours of the morning until mid morning and was fresh and varied although they did not do bacon or fried eggs they did have scrambled eggs, beans and sausages. Lots of yoghurt, fruit, croissants etc as well. There was a shuttle bus to take and collect us from the airport included in the price. All in all a Fantastic value stay and we will definitely stay again if we fly from Cardiff. December 11, 2013

The hotel is very convenient for the airport, and it has everything needed for the regular traveller. What let it down on this occasion was that every table behind the food serving area had the remnants of everyones breakfast on them. Three staff chatting away at the reception desk and no-one clearing away the breakfast plates etc. Guests come down for breakfast and couldn't find a clear table! December 6, 2013

This was the sixth and last hotel I stayed in during my whirlwind tour of Wales, England and France (just one night in Paris) and definitely was one of the best. I was exhausted and terrified of missing my plane home the next morning. The staff was wonderful, the room was very comfortable, and the mushroom soup was delicious! Plus, they drove me to the airport at 4am. Highly recommended! December 6, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very uncomfortable bed and room not clean Unfortunately this was the worst experience that I've ever had at a holiday inn anywhere in the world. As you will see from my membership I have stayed in a number of HI's in the Uk, Europe ! MEast and Russia, but this was the worst one in Cardiff. We had to change rooms after the first night as the bed was so uncomfortable. The mattress was so thin it felt like a camp bed. If it wasn't for the fact that we checked in quite late in the evening after a 4 hour drive and we had our son with us we would have asked to be moved on arrival. We did get another room on our 2nd night, but to be honest the bed was not that more comfortable and more alarming was the fact that it seemed that the room had not been cleaned properly. We were walking on biscuit crumbs etc and there were empty packets of food under the bed. We did feed this back to the hotel manager on checking out, and she was apologetic. We are planning to make regular trips to Cardiff, but this experience has made me think again about staying at this HI and at the moment would not recommend this hotel to any of my colleagues or friends. Comfortable beds and very quiet rooms. Breakfast was a very pleasant surprise the next morning. Added to that was the reasonable price. They were chatting and having a loud laugh in the kitchen which was quit a disturbance for customers having breakfast in the restaurant! Was not helpful when customers asking questions! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by we love it here i know this is an airport hotel but we love it here, the price was what brought us here to begin with and we keep going back. me and my daughter like to have a few days away and money is tight. they have a microwave so we buy ready meals and make our own food, breakfast is always free and plenty of it. the staff here are just the best, really friendly... would recomend this hotel and look fwd to our next trip to this hotel November 15, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Airport Parking We decided to to use the 8 day parking and one night stay offer as it seemed a good deal and suited us due to an early flight. The shuttle service is very poor. On the departure morning the minibus was on time but the driver failed to offer any help with any of the luggage,loading or unloading. The driver did drop off outside the main terminal. The idea on returning is to phone the hotel from the arrivals so they can collect you. They failed to answer me but another passenger got through and was told we would wait 10 minutes. The minibus finally arrived about 25 minutes after the phone call.we were all very wet from waiting and again no offer of help to load the cases. The driver was asked about the delay but never answered. Considering the hotel is just outside the airport entrance the service is very poor and not as good as the competitors. Will never use again. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not great Stayed here to meet customers who were picking-up someone from Cardiff Airport the next day. Check-in staff were friendly and efficient. Upon arriving at room, there was rubbish outside the door. When I entered the room it smelled of wet labrador and was not nice. There was no Iron in the room so I used the ironing room downstairs to iron a shirt - this room had obviously not been cleaned for some time as there was a large build-up of fluff on the floor which covered my shirt sleeves as I tried to iron it. The flush on the toilet did not work. The walls/door of the room are so thin that every single noise in the corridor was heard all night. The menu was basic - the food was OK. I cannot believe that on the menu, the lamb dish said 'Mint sauce 50p extra' ! Amazing. Overall I found the hotel a very poor quality and no-where near as good as other national chains of hotels for the same cost. I stay in 2 hotels a week and this was the worst I've stayed in for a long time. The best part was the helpful staff. November 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by pre holiday stay a pre holiday stay,was ideal for us here being so close to the airport. so,we liked the holiday inn express for this purpose. have to say,we were very comfortable here,and would or will be back for sure ! all the staff were great-friendly,welcoming,obliging and proffessional manner. the place was nice and warm,clean and rather cosy! food in evenings was just the ticket,although not a huge choice,could not fault it .it was lovely. breakfast was good choice,but would have been nice to see sothing cooked-boiled egg etc,however there was a good choice. i would reccomend this place to stay-good prices,nice and comfortable and friendlt staff. ooh,they also offer you a shuttle to the airport,and there is a leave your car offer here too-which is great :-) November 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by very soft bed, very noisy we were really looking forward to having a good sleep before starting our holiday, but to no avail. The bed was so soft, you only had to move slightly to wake your partner up and although we couldn't hear any planes, we could certainly hear doors banging and people talking all through the night. Breakfast was passable, but nothing hot for early departures. The same was said for our return nights stay. We slept about 3 hrs on both occasions and certainly won't be rushing back. Evening meal was the worst meal we have had out in a very long time. November 2, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant and good value Once again we chose the Holiday Inn to stay the night before our holiday, and it didn't let us down. The staff are all helpful and friendly, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We were leaving our car parked for the week, so had the bus into the airport in the morning,and it was spot on time, and the driver was really pleasant, even at four in the morning.. On the way back a quick FREE phone call from the airport when we arrived, and we were picked up within about five minutes, and taken back to the hotel to collect our car. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Room but a Soft Bed! Arrived early hours one Friday morning. We were picked up from the airport which was good. The driver was polite and helped with the cases. We checked in and the same gentlemen got us refreshments and helped us to our room. The room was quiet, tidy and spacious, however, the bed was so soft and uncomfortable I dont think either of us got any sleep. The room reminded me more of a Premier Inn room rather than a Holiday Inn Express. Having stayed at Express before one of the things that sticks in my memory is how good the walk in showers are, but not in the one in Cardiff, small with a curtain. We didn't have breakfast so cannot comment. September 30, 2013

Hayley on the welcoming desk was fab, she was very helpful, cheerful and she also kept our holiday a secret from our 9yr old. We picked this Hotel to the fact it is close to Cardiff airport and had transfer facilities to the airport. We found it great value for money to stay and park our car here, than to use the airport parking. The food in the evening was limited, and didn't have kids meals, we opted to eat at a place down the road. The minibus driver who took us to the airport was great, happy,funny, even though it was 3am. He even took a detour for our children to see a plane on the runway. the same couldn't be said for the older guy who picked us up from the airport, grumpy and didn't say a word. He took ages to pick us up, and broke the speed limit when he returned us to the hotel. The hotel was clean, comfortable and ideal for our purpose, will definitely would use again. September 29, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by problems over booking which caused a lot of worry and stress, tv not working in room on arrival, sofa bed had been put up in a double room for 2! Comfortable, clean friendly, quiet hotel in a convenient location. We really like this hotel and have stayed here before. However, I booked 2 rooms online: 2 adults in one room, one adult in the other; ie a total of 3 adults. I checked online and found the details were wrong on the website. I phoned reservations (at a cost to me) and was told that the hotel had changed the details themselves so I had to sort out the problem with them. I had to make a number of phone calls over several days to get this sorted out. The hotel did not phone me or email me, as the general manger had promised they would, to let me know it was sorted. The problems over booking caused a lot of worry and stress; the hotel offered nothing in recompense. This was poor customer service. On arrival the tv was not working in one room on arrival,also an unnecessary sofa bed had been put up in a double room for 2! A very helpful, polite young gentleman on reception sorted both problems out . Staff were very friendly during our stay. The hotel was clean and rooms were pleasant with lovely views. The sound proofing is excellent. Breakfasts were good - they have the older style holiday inn express hot drinks machines which produce reliably good tasting enjoyable drinks - not the new machines, as in some locations, which make bitter tasting coffee and dull chocolate! I would stay here again, but am dreading the booking process and problems again!!! September 28, 2013
