Booked a Junior Suite for one night, room was clean and functional -- typical for an IHG property. Overall a great stay with no fuss. Breakfast choices were great, typical for HIE. We were only there for one night so don't know about housekeeping, but I'm sure they are great as well. I didn't interact with staff much, perhaps a sign that I didn't need to ask for anything and that everything works.
They have an outdoor pool so it was closed for the season when we stayed. This was not surprising to me but it was disappointing to my 9-year-old. It was in the mid-80s the week before we stayed, but it was October so no swimming this stay. The location of this property is great -- sandwiched between two interstates. Very convenient if you need to stop for the night in Hillsborough.

The level of service delivered by Meena was exceptional. She greeted everyone with a smile each morning at breakfast and couldn't do enough to make sure everything was enjoyable.
As we were leaving to head to the airport after breakfast, we noticed that we had a flat tire on our rental car. With no extra time to spare, she contacted a service to get our party of 5 to the airport while we were dealing with the rental car company. Truly excellent service!

This hotel was quite good. The only thing it lacks is definitive signage on the property visible from the roadway. Granted it's the only hotel on the short road but an HI sign would be much appreciated.

Hotel was filled to capacity with sports teams during our stay. Meena, the breakfast hostess, was delightful and did a great job trying to accomodate everyone.
Our stay was soured however when we came back hoping to shower to find no towels. We called front desk and they said laundry was backed up. Two hours later we STILL had no towels and the toilet that was constantly running...(husband had to go into tank twice to fix) eventually overflowed. Maintenance did come immediately at this point (and brought towels) but stay was already ruined.

From the time we arrived until we left three days later, it was obvious that the owner, his wife and all the employees cared about us and did everything possible to make our time there relaxing and enjoyable. My wife has an allergy problem related to odors and perfume sprays, but they took care of it immediately by using an odor-free cleaning chemical. Staying there was a pleasure as the beds were just the right amount of firmness, the breakfasts very good and the staff always positive and helpful. We recommend it highly for anytime you are in the Hillsborough, Chapel Hill, Durham area!!!

The facility was typical of HIE locations but this seemed to be a on the slightly older side. The A/C unit was noisier than most but overall the room was clean and comfortable. The area in which this hotel was located was not the most desirable. For the price, it was definitely a great value.

We stayed in the hotel for three days while we toured colleges in the area. The hotel was conveniently located close to Duke and UNCCH. The owners were as nice as they come, and we were so touched by their warmth and hospitality. We hope we will be back to stay again!

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the last few years usually because it was a last resort (everything else was booked). I have never had any problems though. The most recent stay, upon check in, I was told I was on the "do not rent list". Caught off guard, I asked why, of course. The receptionist called the manager for an explanation. I was told I was on this list because I had made a "mess" in a room previously. When I asked for details, I was told that I flooded the room and there was water everywhere. This was news to me. Being a grown adult, I have never and would never leave a room in that condition besides, why would I stay in a flooded room. Nothing has ever been said to me about this, not one word before. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told they weren't there and wouldn't be there the next day. I told the receptionist they must have me mistaken with someone else. By the way, the receptionist was not the friendliest person to greet guests. Not sure what's going on with the whole situation, but seriously-this place is not the nicest anyway- then to be treated like that when I had chosen to stay there and spend my money is just ridiculous. Whatever. I'm not wasting my time thinking about this anymore.

This hotel met the standards of some of the others that I have stayed at. However, this was the first of its kind to bill me for additional expenses in advance. When I inquired about the difference on the invoice and the amount listed by my bank, I was told that it takes a couple of days to drop off. What????

This hotel is located well off of the road and is thus very quiet. I slept great here. No noise. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Breakfast was good. Very clean also. I will always stay here when I'm in the area. Very much preferable to being in Durham or Chapel Hill.

basic hotel, no frills but no high prices, No newspaper delivered to door and bill was not slid under door like othe Holiday Inn Express. Basic linens. Cheap towels.

Rooms are placed away from the noisy roads, I was able to get the goodnight sleep in peace. good thing is the rooms are upgraeaded!!! and comfortable...and staff was great!!

If you are looking for traditional Holiday Inn service and facility, plus need to be near the northwest part of Durham or near the Ice Rink this is the place. We stayed here three days and thought the location was good for several places we needed to be in the northern part of Durham. Ice skating at the Triangle Sports Arena was on the agenda.

This is a very nice hotel. I have stayed at this HIE many times over the last 6 yrs. I normally visit Hillsborough 2-4 times per year. The rooms are always in good condition, and the staff is helpful and pays attention to their guests. I have chatted with the owners on most of my visits and each time I visit I always see staff members that I have seen on previous visits.
Very good value.

although the hotel has been upgraded it still feels shabby. The cost is high for this quality. I have stayed here for years and it seems that the breakfast is less good. More fruit and healthy options would be nice. A waffle iron is preferred to pancake maker.
The beds and pillows were comfortable. The shower was only fair.

I go to Duke University for cancer treatments, so I need a clean place to stay while up there. The added features are the friendliness of the staff and the breakfast, which they start early to accommadate, the people who need to leave early.

It was cold in the room. After about 45 minutes of running the heat it was tolerable, but the bathroom never warmed up. Nothing speical about the room or hotel, fairly bland. Would look for another option next visit.

This HIEx location is by far the biggest disappointment in my 10+ years experience with the brand. Poorly lit grounds and interior, worn-out furniture, uninviting entrance, finishes seemed tired and dingy-looking, room furniture scratched, bathroom needs paint and new tub, worn-out bath fixtures. Overall I was creeped out, and if I were not dog-tired and unfit to drive, I would have bolted and given up my PC points.

I have stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Hillsborough several times. I find the rooms comfortable, the staff very accommodating, and an overall good experience. It's a great value!

I've never stayed at a Holiday Inn before, but they're a brand that's recognizable and have been around for years, so I had no real concerns. However, upon arriving, there was an issue with my card as the front desk associate tried charging my card an additional $100 above the already confirmed pricing. She ended up charging 2 credit cards for the same confirmed amount though she told me that only one was charged. Imagine my surprise and dismay, after phoning the other card company and found that there was indeed a pending authorization for the FULL amount of my stay...Yes; and there was a charge on the other one too: both cards! When I asked about this, again was told that the card was not charged or authorized. I had to get the other card company on speaker phone in the presense of the Manager who then confirmed that there was indeed a pending authorization, done by accident, but the funds would be released as soon as I checked out. It's 5 days later; my funds are sitll on hold. Aside from this fiasco, the rooms had an old, mildew'y smell that would not quit. I ended up purchasing airfreshner, as when I asked to switch rooms, I was denied. The toilet would never flush on the first flush and the towels/washcloths were dingy. And to make matters even worse, I specifically looked for a hotel with a gym/workout equipment, but when I got to their gym, there were only 3 pieces of equipment and NONE worked. The hotel boasts a pool, and I didn't see where they'd noted the pool would be closed, so I was expecting to be able to access it...NOPE! The pool was closed. Overall, this has been the worst experience EVER! Unfortunately, I will never consider staying at a Holiday Inn every again.
