Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff at Great Hotel We booked at a couple of hours notice due to visiting a severely ill family member, who subsequently died before reaching the hotel - the staff handled us brilliantly during the booking and through the check in process and this treatment continued throughout the stay; they are absolute starts and a credit to the hotel. The hotel itself is comfortable and clean throughout, with the guest room being spacious, clean and comfortable. All facilities worked and the bathroom had enough water pressure in the shower for me to raise the head high enough (I'm 2m tall); this is very rare in hotels ! There was no bath, only a shower, which wasn't a problem for us, but may be for some. The noise levels were low and blackout curtains fitted helping us sleep. There are plenty of power sockets which allowed us to charge a multitude of devices at the same time. Breakfast, though slightly limited in what it provided compared to some hotels was of higher quality than those, which more than made up for the slightly reduced choice and was available over a long period so we never felt rushed. The food at breakfast was of a high quality. As we booked at effectively zero notice we didn't expect a low rate and weren't surprised when we had to pay quite a bit more than the advance rates. Our only negative point is that the "on the spot" rate is quite high for what is seen as a budget hotel; having said that, it wasn't excessive and the treatment we received was exemplary so this is a very minor criticism. All in all I would very highly recommend this hotel. May 26, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by convenient, clean, comfortable and quiet. Chosen from past H.I.Express stays, this hotel met all expectations and was convenient for walking into the Historic City of Lincoln. The only problem was finding the building. Even though it is in a prominent position, it its currently hiding behind a new student accommodation block next door. That and the lack of signage on the roadside and the hotel itself made for an annoying, difficult and confusing time in heavy traffic trying to find the place, and then how to get to the car park!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Loud big building There is a huge building being constructed next door. Their work starts at 0630 and it is noisy. My room was right above their worksite. The road to the hotel is shared by the construction site, and is very hard to find unless you've been there before as there is no signage indicating the hotel drive. The internet is very slowwwww The rooms are very small, with no suitcase valet in the room. The air conditioning system kept the room very hot, and uncomfortable. There are no restauruants withing walking distance of under a mile. May 22, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location Having stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions, we were surprised to see the building work going on beside it - new rooms for students at the local university. The view of the cathedral and castle from the area outside the lifts is completely obliterated by the new building. This was a disappointment outside your control. Will there be parking problems once the students occupy their building? Parking spaces are already quite narrow, and a challenge for my wife who suffers from arthritis.(I block the road whilst she gets out before parking.) The service provided by the staff was good and the room comfortable but seating in the room was limited. Range of evening meals was fine, if a little pricey for what they were. May 21, 2015
