Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HemelSaint Staff Make this hotel. Well done
Staff were just brilliant. Engaging, welcoming, helpful.
its your standard HI Express, more expensive than the normal Express rates, but made pleasurable by the staff, especially the lass with the Liverpool accent.
Not a good price, but well done staff,

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sazerooni Great location, excellent value
Most enjoyable stay at this hotel, great location, close to metro line, Lowry Theatre, shopping outlet & Man United ground. Room quite small for a family, but ideal for just a couple of nights. Breakfast was lovely, plenty to eat, staff all helpful & friendly, especially 'Heather' at breakfast time. Would definately stay here again, we will be returning in the summer.

Good value and location for access to Salford Quays and MediaCity.
Used the tram to get in to Manchester city centre which is very close to hotel and easy to use.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by tauldlad Good for work location
tired looking hotel that is cheap and cheerful.
No heating in the room and offer of heater did not materialise.
Window was stuck partially open but managed to slam shut to increase heat slightly.
Have to stay at the hotel when working in Salford as only 1 mile away

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bru1948 Great Service
Used this hotel before, but on this visit we had a problem with the air conditioning/heating unit in our room. This was however swiftly dealt with by reception, offering us either an alternative room or a portable heater. We chose the latter, which was quickly delivered to our room. End of problem. Thank you.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Scouse Niggles with room...207
Air con erratic and often going into error mode.
Shower very powerful but slow to drain, potential for a flood!!
Scrambled egg at breakfast down to the usual standard in any British hotel, why do hotels do it like that??? I dont like rubber egg.
Duvet not big enough for the bed
Otherwise the hotel is well placed for the Quays, bar fine, staff very good, just a few niggles to spoil the experience.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by iloveshows great service - small bouncy bed
great location for lowry theatre. bed was a bit small and bouncy but used to memory foam mattress so might just be me. was very quiet but apparently that can change on match days as very near old trafford.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Amelia99 Nice budget hotel.
Stayed here with my partner & 6 yr old twins. loud screaming neighbours making out 12 - 2pm. It woke up the children & was not very pleasant to listen to - didn't help having interconnecting doors - not good sound proofing & my son was worried the shouting man might come through them :(
Parking - plenty £3, 24hrs.
Location - Bit lonely at night, but it was a Sunday.
Tram stops - behind the hotel & over the Quay (5 mins) £6 return for 2 adults & two children - every 15 mins.
family Room - clean, quite modern 1 double 1 sofa bed made up.
Breakfast - included & a good choice of hot & cold.
Staff - pleasant, professional, helpful.
No evening food but serve pizza to order which was nice or staff can assist you with a takeaway delivery.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Huntfamily Incredibly good value
Stayed here whilst visiting in the area. Booked ahead to get best rate on room booking. For a family of six this was an excellent arrangement. All facilities in good working order. Quiet and comfortable night. Great to have breakfast included- nothing too much trouble for lady supervising the breakfast area. Visited the Quays whilst there- would recommend a visit to Imperial War Museum North. All in all a very happy customer. Thank you Holiday Inn Express at Salford!

This was the second time we have stayed at this hotel ansd we werwe very pleased with every thing again on the whole. We asked for a room at the top with a good view and we got itWe thought the breakfast could have been a bit more exciting, with a bettwer choice of fruit rather than just apples! but for the price wwe paid it was very good.
One thing I think you need to keep an eys on is the disabled parking, I have a blue badge on show at all times, but all the other cars parked in disabled bays had no blue card displayed and just parked their for convenience. It is breaking the law to park in a disabled bay if you are not disabled.!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Haroldson Good location easy access to surroundig areas
Good stay, comfortable and relaxing. There was a slight incident in the reception lounge in the evening. A man obviously worse for wear was swearing loudly with foul language. When the staff at reception were made aware of this they 'had a word ' and the matter was resolved.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Watson963 Comfortable, affordable stay close to Media City
Standard HIE in ideal location by the river, about five minutes' walk from Media City UK.
Staff cheerful and friendly. Rooms simple but comfortable.
Breakfast is standard HIE stuff - restricted to scrambled eggs and sausages (no veggie version). Reasonable selection of cereals, fruit, and pastries though.
Loved the tombola for Platinum members - could win a free drink at the bar, or discount off a round of drinks, or some bonus points on PC account. Nice touch!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by KimmyC Great location
Great location for the Lowry Theatre and plentiful private car parking outside hotel.
Receptionist was lovely, and room is typical Holiday Inn Express. Clean and comfortable . Bathroom does what it says!
Only downfall was breakfast was bit frantic! It was over xmas and hotel full of families. Also because it was a weekday, it had the usual shorter and earlier weekday breakfast times (to suit business people I assume) when it could have swapped to the extended weekend breakfast times seeing as it was more like a weekend. Having said that, the food was being constantly replenished, it was just a bit busy! Kids in pyjamas is not really what I expect in a hotel breakfast room! Having said all that it was well worth what we paid.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by lynnmcc Great nights sleep and good value for money
Stayed here for gig in City Centre and because parking was available. No problems at all, friendly staff, quick check in and check out in morning, bedroom was clean, no problems at all. Near the tram stop for travelling into City Centre and various eating/drinking places within walking distance.
Breakfast was buffet style with a good selection, perhaps a bigger selection of hot food would be better.
Would definetely stay here again.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Peeved419 No Value for money
Stayed in 419 (a family room) It was very cold and there was no heating. Not ideal in the middle of winter.
The plug hole in the shower was blocked meaning that when you took a shower all the gunk in the drain would build up around your ankles.
There were no indicators on the bathroom taps as to which was hot/cold.
The bar man was very unfriendly and unhelpful when I was trying to place an order and enquire about the hot food and I was told if I dont want a sandwich I should go to subways (Not within walking distance)
It may be an express but it did not live up to the brand at all. I won't stay again in future

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Derek71 Quite disappointed...
Having stayed here at least 7 or 8 times now, I was very disappointed about the following things...
1. Having to pay for parking
2. No internet voucher at reception
3. Asking to have fresh scrambled eggs at breakfast but none came despite me sitting for 20 minutes
4. My shower filled up like a bath due to very poor drainage
I have always enjoyed my stay here but felt let down by these small but significant changes to parking and internet services, I will certainly be thinking twice about staying here again in the future.

TrevorN Good Value
Used this hotel for a one-night, short break to visit Salford Quays so the location was excellent for this purpose. The Lowry Centre, theatre, cinema, shopping outlet, Media City and the Imperial War Museum were all a few minutes walk away alongside the Manchester Ship Canal.
Our 6th floor room was spacious and comfortable although the view was a nightmare or a delight, depending on whether one supports Manchester United or not for the neon signs and outline of Old Trafford were very visible!
The noise of the adjacent lift and the in-room air conditioning was a bit of a nuisance but I guess this also depends on how deeply one sleeps anyway. Breakfast was not terribly exciting but then, given the price, it was not expected to be.
It was easy to walk to the tram stop and get into the city in a few minutes. I'd use this hotel again. The staff were very helpful and checking in and out a breeze!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jan22 Great location, enjoyed my stay
Staff were friendly and efficient, we expected to wait for our rooms longer than we did as we did arrive earlier than our check in time. But by the time we had ordered our drinks our rooms were ready . Great location, just a walk over the bridge to shopping outlet and some pubs and resturants. For a budget break in December the room was excellant value - it was lovely and warm comfortable beds and clean. Will definately be returning. The breakfast was varied and very good. I will be recommending this hotel again.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Conned Worst night ever!
Got allocated to Room 105, which happens to be right next to the Central Heating Generator. The noise was terrible and we were unable to get any sleep at all from the constant droning. Was exhausted by morning.
You do not realize it at first, so if you get allocated this room, ask to be moved a long way away!!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by LadyPenelope Nothing special
We decided to pay a bit more than cheaper nearby competitors as it was a special weekend away. The staff were helpful but there appeared to be only two men working reception and the bar which was busy. Checkin took 40 minutes. Later we requested a soft pillow and blanket as it was cold but these never arrived. Breakfast was merely adequate. Overcooked sausages and not very hot at all. Despite the cost we were expected to clear our own breakfast tables. The beds were comfy and rooms warm and it provided somewhere to stay for our theatre trip but certainly nothing special and not cheap on a Saturday night.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pobble Very comfortable but . . .
I have always considered one of the most important things for the newly arriving guest is a smile and a feeling of being made welcome. They are quite easy to provide and require no more capital expenditure other than a little training. Why then is it so difficult? Why is one greeted as though as an inconvenience to be dealt with as speedily as possible?
The room was clean and comfortable - just what you'd expect.
Breakfast is proclaimed as "FREE" and as such is worth every penny you pay for it. But given that it realy is included in the room rate it isn't much cop. The coffee and juice are poor: the croissants are quite nasty: the scrambled egg not to be mentioned, but the pits are reached when you find there is no butter. Not only is there no butter, but the staff don't care. They think it totally inconsequential. It did not apparently cross their minds to go out and buy some. The next day the butter had arrived but there were no sausages. In the time taken to compose and print notices to this effect they could have got some if they cared.
Room good. Service indifferent. Breakfast awful.
