I travel quite extensively for business and have a platinum and diamond memberships at different hotels. I love the location at this hotel because of it's proximity to several historic areas in Philadelphia. Fine and other dining is also within walking distance. I love looking out at the water and Ben Franklin bridge early in the morning. I taught it was a spectacular site.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by the new housekeeper very disappointed
Left my room at 9am and returned at 8pm after enjoying all that Philly has to offer. The room had not been serviced. So i went to the front desk and was advised that house cleaning had gone for the day. I was handed clean towels and left to service the room myself!
On checking out I was asked the regular how was your stay question.
Which was meaningless , as I replied not good, and there was no attempt to address the issue. I was due to return the next week at the end of a vacation tour of the North East. I cancelled my future reservation.
Note to hotel: writing an issue down in a book does not resolve it.

We had a really good stay at this HIE. The hotel offered everything we needed to enjoy our weekend. I have just 1 request, and that is for the hotel to respond to an email i sent upon returning home 6/29 about something that may have been left behind in our room. All the staff was awesome!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gandrewz great location for Philadelphia
We drove to this hotel and stayed for 3 nights.
It was easy to get to and plenty of parking was available at a charge.
It was an easy 10 minute walk into the tourist attractions of the city centre.
Penns landing is opposite the hotel with several good restaurants and the ferry over to Camden for the aquarium and Battleship USS New Jersey.
Internet was free fast and reliable.
Air conditioning was good.
Breakfast was standard Holiday Inn Express fare.

The bedding was soiled with mouse droppings in the one bed. Bedding was changed but very disgusted by this point. There was a leaky bathtub faucet . Also every floor was out of vending machine sodas ! No Ice in the machine on our 10th floor. They seemed to be out of alot of supplies, no hot cocoa , no bananas or apples in the morning . This was an overnight stay before several Dr appointments with the my son at Childrens hospital of Philidelphia. It made for a rough stay . We will not stay here again.

House keeping and staff at breakfast were excellent. Some front desk staff just ok.. The check out staff was better than check in. Some personality or smiles might help.
Minor wall paper issues in room but nothing major. Only stayed one night so no lounging and internet usage was needed. Shower pressure was good.
Toilet paper roll was almost empty when checked in but was fixed quickly by staff still in hallway.
Room faced highway but didn't mind at all.
Overall experience was good..would do it again at same price but it looks like it could get pricey due to location so I'd have to look elsewhere depending. I visit frequently.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by stacey83 Parking is not Favorable
While we enjoyed our overnight get away, the parking became a major inconvenience. At $25 per night, which is terribly over priced and unnecessary, we have to leave our keys with parking attendants for them to move our cars that are double parked in front of other cars. Every time we need to leave, we have to wait for our car, etc. Breakfast had good choices, but 2 milk cartoons we picked were stale, the dates needs to be checked. As a suggestion, for the room size, a micro- fridge should be in each rooms. The price we paid should include free parking and a micro- fridge. Not a bad stay, but because of the parking price, we will not be back to this location.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MikeBelAir Just What I Expected
Room was clean, bedding comfortable and the staff outstanding. The facility is a bit older but well maintained. I requested and received a river view room and was on the top floor. There was a view of the river, the USS New Jersey and a bridge, maybe Franklin bridge. This is a great picture lit at night. The hotel offers a free shuttle in a 2 mile radius. This is sufficient enough to travel to and from the historic sites at Independence Hall and Liberty Bell. We also used the shuttle in the evening to go to restaurants. We were able to leave our car in the lot. This was worth the $25 per day fee since we didn't have to worry about finding parking places or parking garages and lots. Brian, the driver, is a great employee, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Only negative was the room and traffic noise for awhile. But, we asked for the river side. Few restaurant choices near but not really a problem with the shuttle. I feel we received a good value for the money spent.

Safe didn't work. Had to request towels and shampoo.
Iron leaked out all the water. Ironing Board wouldn't fold up.
No comforter on bed. Took 4 days to get one. Maid said the laundry didn't like to wash them, so they were short on them.
Room was not cleaned until 4:30 pm.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Prissy2014 Pretty view
We had never been to Philly, but chose this hotel based on central location and room rates. The staff was always friendly and helpful and the shuttle driver was more than accommodating for anywhere we needed to go, as well as made suggestions for touring. We were originally put into the king jacuzzi corner room with a fabulous view (but didn't have a comfortable chair to sit in?) and within 10 minutes of trying to rest we were overwhelmed with the 8th grade field trip students on our floor, who were slamming doors making the headboard rattle and the train passing on the Ben Franklin Bridge every 7 minutes. That must have been the reason for the ear plugs left on the night stand. We asked to be moved and were moved to the 10th floor in a regular room still looking out over the bridge which was more quiet. Comfortable room, but don't like the plastic cups/ice bucket being housed on the shelf under the sink in the bathroom. Toilet overspray? There was no extra blanket in the room & the bedspread is thin. Need more variety in breakfast foods - eggs were served the same way 4 days in a row. Biggest issue? Horrible parking! Although the attendant was nice, we had to leave our keys with him 3 nights in a row to be double parked and play the parking maze game the next morning. & still had to pay $25 a day to park???? Front desk needs to provide stamps to purchase for postcards - their stamping machine went across the address I had already written. Could also provide guests with discount coupons for tour buses, etc. I'd stay there again for the view.

Have stayed here twice, it's in a very convenient location to old city, South Street, all the attractions. The staff were very friendly, the entire hotel is clean and very quiet. I especially love the views of the Ben Franklin bridge and the river, both times I've paid the little bit extra for those views right out the window. This is my go-to place when visiting Philadelphia.

First I was disappointed that you have to pay $25.00/ night to park???? I was staying in their hotel!! I received online rates therefore I got a pretty good deal, if I had to pay the "street" rate I would not have been pleased. The rooms were fine and it looked like it had been remodeled, however, there are no microwaves or fridges in the room and one of my adult daughters was not feeling well and did not go out to eat, we couldn't bring back leftovers for her later as we had no way to keep them or to heat them up without going down 4 stories to the "public" microwaves. We called Pizza Hut and had to wait an hour for delivery...when we used the phone book from under the nightstand dust flew everywhere, as if they cleaned the top but not the underneath that is open The room was standard hotel fair, but I was disappointed with the check-in. The girl was extremely pleasant and nice - I know this sounds petty but the complimentary lemon water was empty and had not been refilled even later in the evening and the same with the cookies or "treats" they normally serve - the next morning when we checked out it was the same...I say this because we had just come from the airport which was 20 min, had not eaten and had to check in and then walk several blocks to find a restaurant...the vending machines were more than half empty. It was also noisy even with the river view room.

Everything was terrific from the parking attendants to the front desk people to the cleaning and maintenance staff. Everyone was friendly, obliging and concerned that our stay was enjoyable. Pricewise, it was the best deal for room and parking for the quality of service expected. Thanks

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HEB90 very kind and helpful staff
We stayed two nights. Had a river view room. Very comfortable and mostly quiet. Staff was especially kind and helpful. Only little complaint - no snack vending machine. My daughter had treatments at nearby CHOP, and only wanted peanuts for dinner (only thing that sounded edible to her). Had to get in my car and drive to a WaWa a few miles away to pick up snacks.

I chose this location for a bachelorette party that I threw and had an amazing experience. We had had 2 rooms with double beds that were very spacious and comfortable along with access to a shuttle that drove us within a 3 mile radius with no extra charge. In the morning we many of us stopped down for a complementary breakfast and then walked across the street to the beautiful municipal peer with our hot coffee. We felt incredibly safe the entire time. The staff was so accommodating and incredibly friendly which is very rare when you mention the term "bachelorette party". I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a great safe experience on a budget!

This hotel is a party hotel. Loud and busy. It has a good location. It needs a thorough cleaning from top to bottom. Bathrooms are filthy. I actually cleaned up the bathroom because I couldn't deal with the dirty doors, pile of dirt in the corner. Bring your cleaning kit and earplugs.

My husband and I decided to have a weekend getaway in Philly and because we are both history buff that's why we came here. Our experience in the hotel was excellent can't think of any bad experience. We sleep soundly, the traffic didn't bother us. I guess because we were so tired from the "all day" tour.
One thing that I will miss in this hotel is the breakfast. That's why I call it "Yummazing" - Yummy and amazing variety of choices.
