This is he worst IHG hotel I have stayed in. Tried to check in on the Sunday, but told there was no room booked under my name, despite being a Platinum member and having booked it while logged in. It took several attempts at showing my confirmation including reservation number. I was meant to feel an inconvenience so not a great CE to start. Finally it was accepted that the system said yes I was given a room and a goody bag for being a Platinum member, this contained a bottle of water, a Mars bar and a free drink token. I mention this not as a criticism but because on day two of my stay the maid disposed of the bag and my free drink. So why did I not mention this at reception, well I believe my time is my most valuable asset and I saw no point in wasting at least 10 minutes of this asset queuing at reception. I appreciate the location of this hotel means the customer flow is very transient but staff accordingly. All of the above niggled but the main dissatisfaction was the unfriendliness of the staff, it costs nothing to SMILE!

This is probably one of the worst Holiday Inn Express hotels I have stayed in. The hotel has no mobile phone access unless you make phone calls outside the building. When I asked a member of staff if there was something wrong with the phone reception, I was told that it was currently being sorted out. This seemed to me that the answer had been said many times before! I had many phone calls to make as I was staying at the hotel for business purposes.
As the hotel is near Stansted airport, I would have thought that it was essential for phone reception to be good.
The rooms looked very tired and in need of refurbishment although they were clean.
Check in was also very slow due to only two members of staff being on Reception.
The staff were very polite and helpful.

Beds are comfortable, rooms are clean. Nice selection of breakfast, it starts really early and lasts till late which was great for those who need to catch an early plane. However, the shuttle bus service is pricey, costing 3 quid per person for a 5 min drive, gets so crowded in the morning you could hardly squeeze on with luggage. Better to book a cab if u have two or people travelling together as it only costs 6.50 to the airport.

Oh come on Holiday Inn, you advertise "your five favourite hot breakfast items"
Then you serve scrambled eggs that are so over cooked that they are rubbery and the water has started to separate in a pool in the bain marie. Though we asked for some edible eggs the staff could not supply freshly cooked eggs but the kitchen hand came out and stirred the eggs to try to get them smooth again.
Our next ""Hot Favourite" was sausages, which appeared to be frozen pre-pack of the cheapest variety, these were nearly all rusk and contrary to the eggs were almost raw.
Yeuch!!
At least there was not much damage you could do to the baked beans.
PS where is the bacon??
Overall a very pleasant stay but spoiled by a disgusting and inedible breakfast.

I didnt like the sheets, bed or pillows. The bed wasnt particularly comfortable, the sheets didnt fit very well and the pillows were hard.

First Room smelt of stale tabacco smoke but on request moved to a different room which was fresher.
Very disturbed nights sleep due to group of intoxicated people running from room to room , banging doors until 05.15. Finally gave up and left at 06.00 despite flight not until late morning.

Hotel is fine but a bus every 30 minutes only and paying £3 to go 1 mike from an airport hotel is insane. I waited 35 mins and was not impressed.

The hotel is very convenient for Stansted, the room was fine and the staff were very friendly.
The breakfast was good, but my wife thought that the coffee was not good - I don't drink coffee.
I think it is outrageous that we had to pay GBP8 to park our car at the hotel even though we were guests. This is the first hotel I have ever stayed at that charges guests to park at the hotel. I understand that being near an airport they must control parking carefully or it will be abused, but to charge for it is crazy.
We didn't use it, but I noticed that they charge GBP3 each way for the shuttle to the airport. I have stayed at airport hotels all around the world & never had to pay.
These extra "rip off" charges, while not enormous, leave a sour taste in what was otherwise a good experience.

found no liquid soap in the shower room. Reported this. Was given immediately another room but even in the other room there was an empty soap container in the shower room. By this time I gave up and used one that I had with me in my suitcase.
Only cold breakfast after 4am. I went to the restaurant at 5am and you can have cold cereal and cold milk , toasts and hot coffee or tea.
Very disappointing but in general I rate this as an average to good hotel.

Disappointed by the reception staff. We arrived after 10pm and were tired and would have appreciated a warm, friendly member of staff but we felt as if we were an imposition. Their manner was rather curt.
We, along with lots of other people, had an early flight to catch in the morning and would have appreciate a full breakfast being available earlier but understand that this is not viable. It would be good to have fresh rolls and croissant as well as the ordinary bread for toasting. This time there was at least cheese so maybe some cold meats could be added to this as well.
Did not appreciate the noise level in the morning with music and two TV's on.

I would have given this 5* for over all experience except I was very disappointed my car had to go to mid term pk. When I had stayed here on previous occasions my car remained at hotel and I was expecting the same again. I would check where my car was being parked before booking next time

The professional manner of the front desk staff and the information they provided was very good. The duty managers were acceptable friendly and considerate.
The room was starting to looked a little tired, and some of the nooks and crannies needed a spring clean. The bed was very good and the option of pillows firmness was a nice touch.
The barman was overloaded. I think that taking food took too much of his time,as customers pondered what meal to order the line for drinks got longer and some people became frustrated as there was no action at the front.
The proximity to the airport was the reason to stay at this hotel however the £3 charge for the bus was a surprise.
Overall a good experience and I speak as a person who has travelled a lot in my working life.
The only let down was the booking which was done by phone and took 20 minutes to complete my call from portugal

I avoided the rush to the airport first thing in the morning by staying overnight so that I was there for my flight out of Stanstead the next morning. Nothing could be simpler than getting up at a reasonable time, eating a good breakfast and then making my way to the airport in plenty of time. Ideal!

So much better than getting up at 4am to catch an early flight - for not much more than the cost of parking itself. Everything worked like clockwork and it's definitely the way to go for us in future! Thoroughly recommend. Cooked breakfast could be improved, though - unappetising, powdered scrambled egg and vile sausage let the side down. Otherwise lovely yogurt, bread and pastries etc.

I was very impressed with the size of the room and the bathroom was spotless. In order to put the lights on you have to put your card in the socket which took me a while to work out. I like my old fashioned keys. On the website it said the room had satellite tv but all you got was the main 5 channels, a news channel, a sports channel and a CCBC channel so I feel that description was misleading. Also there was no folder giving information about the hotel, where breakfast and dinner was served etc which I found very disappointing. All in all staying only for 1 night it was quite satisfactory.

Hotel is conveniently situated less than a mile from the airport terminal - though the £3.50 charge per person per journey for the shuttle bus is a little steep for such a short distance. If there are more than 2 people traveling together it is probably cheaper to get a taxi. The hotel is very modern, clean and comfortable and the reception staff were very friendly and efficient.
The staff in the breakfast area kept it clean and tidy and the buffet was restocked quickly. There was not a great deal of choice especially on the hot food but then the breakfast is included in the room rate which is very reasonable, so it is still very good value. I would definately use this hotel again.

I don't know how old this hotel is......10 years maybe. The bed in room 122 was shocking......a worn out mattress where you both roll into the middle. "Complain" you may say.......it's an airport hotel, we arrived at midnight. After you've already gotten into your pajamas has anyone got the energy to start making a fuss about lousy worn-out mattresses? Holiday Inn Stansted, a bed inspection is obviously long overdue!

My self, wife and daughter arrived at approx 2100. Very quick and easy to book in. Took the car to the Mid Stay parking area which was close by and decided to walk back to the hotel which took about 15 minutes. Had breakfast of cerial and toast with tea, coffe and juice and yogurt. Caught the 6 am bus to airport, all went very smoothly. On return caught bus back to Mid Stay car park to collect car. Gave ticket and voucher to parking attendant at exit kiosk - no problems. I found the stay and park (8 day) very good and well worth the money. Would recommend to anyone, I shall certainly be doing it again when flying from Stanstead.

Have stayed here many times over the years and I must say for the first time we were very disappointed with the breakfast, the quality of the food offered has definitely deteriorated since our visit last year.
A real shame as otherwise a great hotel.
